Funny how next-gen, photorealistic graphics can still result in broken messes. The flat referee looks like a demonic entity showing up in an actual match, and it's all the more hilarious for it.
Graphics can only get so close to photorealism. The mere thought of a game's realism to exceed reality itself is flat-out unconceivable, let alone unrealistic.
Newer console generations will get harder and harder to sell.
Crash Bash is the last PS1 Crash game to be remade. As far as the base game goes, though, it's going to be a way harder sell content-wise. There's a reason as to why CTR included Nitro Kart tracks first and actual new content later. Crash Bash doesn't even have a proper follow-up, as the only other party game is Crash Boom Bang on the Nintendo DS. Unless they mix it up with a dual remake of Crash Bandicoot Purple and Spyro Orange, both stealth-spiritual successor of Bash in the first place. That would be a deal maker.
@get2sammyb If I manage to buy a PSVita before Augustmageddon, I'm planning to snatch the Ratchet trilogy. I got mildly burned by the outsourced PSP spinoff Size Matters back in the day though. Do you have any suggestions for a late newcomer?
Jak and Daxter is a remnant of the Sony I used to look up to. Hopefully Naughty Dog can take a game off the grimdark bandwagon, awards and accolades be damned.
This hubris is brought to you by the PlayStation 4's dominance in its category back in the day. For The Players indeed.
That aside, I'm eyeing a PlayStation Vita as a potential birthday present in May. I have a request for y'all. Can any Vita owner confirm if the PSP and PSOne Classic libraries are still available in the Vita store, as it stands? One more vessel for my library won't hurt, after owning a PSP Slim and a PSP Go.
Nintendo in the West, regarding PS5: "Ouch, people are actually assaulting lorries for PS5s - we definitely need to up our game software-wise"
Nintendo in Japan, regarding PS5:
At least it's optional, thank goodness. Not to mention I'll buy the Pass only if it has some good s#it in it from now on - Top Secret was a stellar season, and after the flooded map dork age, Battle For The Nexus proved to be one hell of a comeback. Can't wait for the "Mid-winter" freebies.
I wouldn't mind a port of the previous KH games on Switch as a trade-off for this coming to PS4, but hey, I'm glad you can enjoy this action RPG. You can play the original on DS, Switch or, if you're non-Nintendo purists, even on mobile.
Just reading this, I felt the typical Sony flavor of yesteryear, unlike the usual third-party exclusivity claptrap we hear about nowadays. "Alternate history" doesn't even begin to describe it: an earlier debut in the portable market and more Crash Bandicoot-like games would most likely see me as a die-hard Sony fanboy.
Good for y'all if Sony's giving out this as your first PS5 game by default!
@Quintumply Still getting the feeling that when it comes to legacy content, Nintendo could still teach the PlayStation Classic a thing or two. In case Sony tries to do the same with PS2, we'll see what they'll come up with. Crossing my fingers for a PS2 Classic that has Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank games, given my only forays with either series was the PSP. Either Kingdom Hearts game would make a classic console a no-brainer. I wouldn't dream of modding my SNES Classic Mini, like, at all. Ever. My PS1 Classic, on the other hand... already has been.
@GhostInAJar It all boils down to how a series is coinceived, though. Y'all be praising Square for its bold decision, and yet if God of War got a bloodless sequel that showed symbols when enemies were hit - Kingdom Hearts style - you'd be crying bloody murder.
@get2sammyb Never thought I'd see this comment in here. And from an editor, no less! Still, reported this piece of news for an Italian news site, and linked to this article as the source. Much appreciated.
It's evident Vicarious Visions has played at least some role during development. Why? Allow this Ninty guy to explain. See, in the GBA days, Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced (basically Warped's more tropical stages crammed into a small cartridge) was touted as the first multiplayer Crash game - as in, the first multiplayer platforming Crash game. The 1vs1 modes were races in the unlocked stages - the first who reaches the goal, wins.
Also hyped to see whatever Fake Coco looks like. I mean look, she can't look any more wrong than Sierra Era Crash anyway.

I was looking forward to the day I could post this very comment.
Re: PS5, PS4 Users Over-Represented in 2024 Pornhub Console Traffic Share
And to think Nintendo fans are considered the Peter Pan of the gaming community, look at all the action they got. Wonders never cease, huh?
@Ainu20 That's not what I would call a bad year, anyway. Talk about a self-own.
Re: Square Enix to 'Aggressively' Pursue Multiplatform Strategy from Now On
To be honest, it's weird it even lasted this long.
God of War, The Last of Us, Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter, THOSE are "Sony exclusives" to me. Let other people play Final Fantasy.

I'd rather see that than, y'know, exclusivity for a third-party property. So good on Sony.
Re: Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Has Already Outsold The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima in the US
Deservedly so. Among the three, Insomniac deserved to win the most, with Ghost of Tsushima coming at a close second.

That's Game Awards nomination material for at least two categories, right there, if the 2019 edition is of any indication.
