@FullbringIchigo Marvel is now a subsidiary of Disney, though. Should they ever want some money from other consoles' owners, though, I doubt that will take them much time to figure the legal claptrap out. As far as my (poor) legal knowledge goes, anyway.
@FullbringIchigo
What I know is that Sony owns the movie rights to Spider-Man and that's kind of it.
This case of exclusivity is the same as Castlevania; no one here is asking for God Of War or Ratchet and Clank on Xbox and Switch.
That said...
If the remastered collection is aiming to be - or more precisely, to stay - a Sony exclusive, the suspicious timing of it all suggests it's gonna be anything but.
Of course, no hard feelings at all - me not being a hardcore Castlevania fan helps - but I thought this timing was interesting enough to point out.
I stand by my previous statement on the matter. I can buy that the difference between, er, different online infrastructures played a part in the time needed for cross-play to be a thing, the fact that it has still taken longer than expected - especially considering PS4's allegedly superior online experience - comes off as curious to say the least; no one should give its competition enough time to make a commercial campaign taking potshots at the fact, and yet it happened. So, while I can understand there are issues with online gaming (there always have been, there will always be) I can chalk up most of this as PR-talk, mostly given how the whole thing has been mishandled in the aforementioned (second link in this comment) statement: how can we not say this is just backpedaling, given it has first been said that PS4 online is supposed to be PS4 only, while now crossplay is suddenly described as part of the plan all along? Unless, then again, Sony meant to be the first to pioneer cross-play this month, only for Nintendo and Microsoft to beat them to it. Who knows? I'm raising my hands if this turns out to be the case.
I wanted to chime in from NintendoLife just to be the Dursley to you guys' Harry Potter.
No matter how you don't want it to be even seen as a big deal, it is.
Think about it for a second - first things first, what benefit should the PS4 community get from not having cross-play? Net infrastructure integrity, to the best of my knowledge, hardly has anything to do with it.
Even if this "asinine whining" that is the cross-play demand from all three userbases (yes, even PS fans outside of this vocal minority we have here) didn't succeed in triggering a chain reaction among Sony's higher-ups, you have to remember one key detail - proper cross-platform play, while not unheard of in previous years, has been properly introduced in console gaming during this generation, so it stands to reason that, should Sony have decided to stick with its poorly justified stance on cross-play, they would have thrown the PS5 into the fray with it being - at that point in the future - the only console with a self-contained online community, which would have (although arguably not as much as other possible factors) hurt the sales of third-party, multiplatform online titles' PS versions.
So there's that, just wanted to give my two cents on the matter.
@PS_Nation (#74) No need to worry - if I wasn't so young and naive back in the day, seeing the Universal logo before the developer's one in either trilogy would have made me put two and two together. If anything, the GBA Crash games were the first sign of Vicarious Visions' sheer competence, which is why the announcement trailer of the N. Sane Trilogy had me nodding - so there's always a silver lining. A bit worried about Toys For Bob managing the remake, although the trailer does an amazing job at keeping said worries at bay.
@ShogunRok Aw, crud! I haven't seen your comment, that would have changed my comments immensely. Not deleting them, though, because they flowed into what I was meaning all along.
@PS_Nation Same as my earlier comment. And the only port-begging I've done in the past is about the KH HD Remixes. I mean, the PS Vita is literally a portable PS3, why didn't they just slap a port on the machine? That would be a killer app for me. If the lack of a job didn't contribute to an economical situation that was already going downhill at the time, I'd have bought a Vita too, and that would be the perfect companion to the 3DS in my portable bag. As of now, however, I have settled with my magnificent PSP Go.
@get2sammyb Honestly, I'd have talked about it on NintendoLife to tell purists how good it is as I've done with the N. Sane Trilogy (trust me on this one). But given the lack of a Switch port, well... actually, I'm just here to tell how, actually, I'm glad the game even exists at this point! I just got carried away with the Switch part, that's all. Besides, I also hope the PS5 will be hybrid much like the Switch itself. That would get me back in the PlayStation home console family in seconds. As of now, however, I'll just calm my portable Insomniac-made-Spyro thirst with my PSP, because - guess what! - I have the trilogy itself on the little thing. Same goes for Crash, of course.
As a Switch owner (go figure), I'm unimpressed by the leaked trailer omitting Nintendo Switch, especially with the N. Sane Trilogy being set for release there as well. However, well, let's be honest. Activision is Activision, and well, as far as platformers go, Nintendo consoles have always been the best place to go. I highly doubt Activision would miss out on more cash, especially given Switch merged both of Nintendo's markets (handheld and home). There might be reasons for the N. Sane Trilogy not being there, one above all the "easier" linear level design provided by Crash over the vast, almost open-world levels Spyro is known for having. Perhaps a downgraded port is in the works, especially given Crash's departure from PS4 was first announced on a Nintendo Direct.
@Turniplord Thank you, I'll keep this in mind. Sadly I resorted to trickery with my girlfriend's PSP because I was out of options by then, but this will prove useful in the future.
Guys, given my part in the Sony fandom is limited to replaying the Crash and Spyro games on my PSP by now, does anyone know if there are notable (e.g. non-indie, non-multiplatform, non-tie-in) all-ages IPs left in Sony's library? Even a LittleBigPlanet game could suffice.
@belmont Thank you for your reply. Sadly I can't seem to be able to access the download tab in Media Go, although I'll do my best and see if any such option turns up; in reverse order, I don't own a PS3, and the PSP's own store has been acting kind of screwy. I'll still try to find out if any option still works.
Sorry for going off-topic, NintendoLife regular here. Hi everyone. I'm asking you guys for assistance. I've just given my girlfriend a PSP this Valentine's Day but my lousy luck had me finding out that Sony has pretty much euthanised the system's support. Is there a way, may it be either via Media Go, website or anything, to download the legally purchased PSOne Classics on it with my account, or has the whole PSP situation become a "keep circulating the tapes" kind of thing? Because that PSP is a refurbished one, which means it's pretty much new. And needing illegal means already to put legally purchased games on it would be awful, especially given the good faith I have put in the system.
PSOne, all the way. It's not a matter of nostalgia, it's just that the startup sequence pretty much screams "alright, you got this new game. Let's play".
Funny how this was also a possibility, I had only known about the "Nintendo PlayStation" until now.
You know, Crash Bandicoot's role was essentially that of a mascot meant to rival Mario, and as such he was supposed to appear alongside Sonic on SEGA consoles at some point, had Sony's own PlayStation never come to be. Then the PlayStation turned out to be Sony's solo debut after all, and needed a mascot. The rest is history.
Gee, it took Sony long enough to realize too many IPs of theirs put way too much emphasis on the edgy side of the console. But I think a quick look at the Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale roster is more than enough.
So this game isn't done with DLC yet? Well, that's good news, I certainly wouldn't want the Dissidia thing happening again. I'm interested again in this title. I hope I can get a Vita soon enough.

N. Sane Trilogy, this ain't.

The European Store has a lot of Classics to release yet. Someone tell SCEE to keep 'em coming!

Well, I take it that's it for the PSOne Classics, I'm afraid...

Re: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
I've been considering picking this one, due to the lack of a handheld Smash Bros. game, as further explored in the http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/masahiro_sakurai_did_consider_smash_bros_for_previous_handhelds NintendoLife article. Unfortunately, I don't own a Vita just yet: most of this depends on how early into 2014 - if in 2014 at all - the 3DS version of SSB gets released.
Re: Store Update: 12th December 2012 (Europe)
Spyro on PSP is always a delight for my eyes. The trilogy's debut was long overdue indeed.
Re: Spyro the Dragon Is Flying onto the European PSN Next Week
"Never change, guys"
This doesn't change the fact that the gap between the European Store's number of Classics and its counterparts is enormous.
