Look at all the “experts” on this forum claiming they know tech and list out reasons why this can run on that. And blah blah blah. Didn’t anybody ever tell you nobody likes a no-it-all?

@get2sammyb that’s frustrating. But. Since I had to play Demon’s Souls (PS5) through New Game ++ to get my platinum, and Returnal god knows how many times for that plat, I guess it’s fine.

Didn’t someone from Insomniac specifically say they made the platinum easily achieveable?

@ElMarko I sure don’t. 1080p and 4K look the same to me. But 30 FPS vs 60 is night and day

@TheTinfoilTitan mine just started throwing networking errors left and right. Got so fed up, I did a complete reinstall of the whole OS last night. If this doesn’t fix it, I’m throwing my PS5 out the window.

@Daleaf it’s probably the one from using the Reconstructor. You have to pay six ether on the first one. Die somewhere in the first biome. Regenerate at the reconstructor, then die again. When you reach the reconstructor on your next run: taa dah: audio tape.

@Dezzy70 Returnal is my game of the year so far. I’d describe it as a Metroid game that was born from a cross between a soulslike and hades. The game is brilliant. And brutally punishing. Be prepared to die. A lot.

That Returnal platinum trophy is pointing at me and laughing…

@themcnoisy I don’t know how many hours I spent on the Ripsnorter. But when I finished, and those gold and platinum trophies popped. Felt so good.

@Xenomorph_79 games ship broken now. So a physical disc is only as good as the store that can patch it.

@Xenomorph_79 eh… but digital doesn’t really compete with physical now does it? I’ve gone full digital and haven’t looked back. It’s great. I don’t have plastic and discs cluttering my living room, I don’t have to stand up to change games, and if I ever lose them. Well. I can’t. As long as the store is operational, I can just redownload them.

@JapaneseSonic don’t take it personally, man. We have APUs powerful enough and AMD will be releasing tech soon that will allow for 4K/60 with RT on a regular basis. This is a good thing. Hopefully Sony and developers will be able to take advantage of it. Google AMD Fidelity FX and/or AMD Virtual Super Resolution if you want to know more. This is their analog to Nvidia’s DLSS.

@Juanalf agree. I’d rather have dynamic resolution and 60 FPS over any 4k/30 with RT. Honestly, the tech is in there… and when AMD releases super resolution (should be released this year)… hopefully Sony will support it, and we’ll get more 4K/60 being the baseline. We’ll see I guess.

@MatthewJP only certain items are permanent — certain suit upgrades, weapon abilities, and one of the two currencies. To not give away too much, I feel the game was brutally difficult and became much easier by the end of the first biome when I got the melee weapon. I now start each run with the melee weapon, which drastically simplifies playing biome 1. If the save got corrupt, you’d have to start all over without that permanent upgrades. That would be enough for me to throw my dual sense against the wall.

Shrug. The white of the PS5 has really grown on me. I think it and its controllers look great.

You know, I try not to fanboy, but The Last of Us part 1 and 2 are both better than anything Microsoft has ever made. This is just my humble opinion but. Sounds like some people are salty that their games don’t sell as well, or as critically acclaimed.

@Hootnoodle I played it fully on switch and decided I wanted to double dip and play it in 60 FPS goodness. I’m past act 1 and almost through the (intermission?). Amazing game, DQXI is.

@roe Have you gotten gold on the Ripsnorter yet? That was my last trophy (besides the platinum, of course), and it took many many frustrating hours of platforming.

@SilkySmile89 I don’t think they can update the USB port to usb4 with a firmware update. However, I believe all of the usb 3 ports on the PS5 are gen 2, and therefore twice as fast as most usb 3 ports. They reach around 1 Gbps vs 500 mbps on a standard usb 3 port. Oculus has already proven they are able to drive the visuals using oculus link and a usb 2.0 cable. A 3.2 gen 2 port should be more than sufficient.

@helloim_anthony I believe the PS4 version will run at 1200p at 60 FPS on a ps5. A native PS5 version may be able to hit 4K/60 and eliminate loading times.

@TheArt that wouldn’t make any sense. The reason Sony and Microsoft sell these below cost is because they know they’ll more than make it up with PS Plus, Xbox Live Gold, Game Pass, and licensing fees charged to publishers.

Sony doesn’t make any money selling only to scalpers. Rogue employees doing so could be charged with federal embezzlement crimes.

Can’t really blame Sony for this, other than making a great piece of hardware that lots of people want.

@Premier_Class I wonder what they could do. One thing they could do is offer priority access to PlayStation direct to PS Plus subscribers. With the vaccine, they just need to put them in stores.

I just want to know what SSD m.2 drive I should buy before the Chia cryptocurrency sends the price of all SSDs through the roof. Sony… please?
