For a group who supposedly 'aren't bothered at all, honest' about this decision, you only have to look at comments on pc and multiplatform site articles about it....
The amount of cope in such places via sour grapes style comments about how few sony games there are anyway and how happy they are that Sony will now not their money at all etc etc shows exactly how 'not bothered' they are.
Good. If the so-called 'PCMR' want to play stuff like Saros, make them buy a PS5/Pro to do so. Loads of them will do so anyway to play GTA VI on release, even if they pretend they won't.
@FinalBoss Same. I have multiple consoles around the place - PS5 Pro in lounge, PS5 in bedroom, PS5 + wheel set-up in one of the spare bedrooms. I can access any game i want on any of them - can't even imagine the faff of taking discs between them all for the big library I have ugh.
Think we'll start to get bigger and bigger gaps between Pro and base PS5 now, partly due to how good PSSR 2.0 obviously is, but also just the usual demands of later in the gen software.
And with PS6 likely 2-3 years away, I'm feeling very comfortable about my Pro purchase.
@Noone2025 You realise that those of us who bought the Pro to enjoy the best performance for probably 4+ years before PS6 comes out aren't stuck with it forever?
Don't tell everyone the secret, but (looks around to check no-one is iistening) we can trade it in for a PS6 at that point.
@nessisonett DF are fully independent of Eurogamer/IGN now, but that brings its own issues with them obviosly trying not to upset any part of the crowd any more for fear of losing views/subs.
I do agree with your general comment though - they're far less reliable than the gospel that a lot of people believe them to be. You only have to look at their errors regarding PSSR 2.0, along with a number of reverse ferrets they had to do last year on various 'pronouncements' they'd previously made.
@J2theEzzo I'm on Pro but I'm sure the base PS5 isn't anywhere as bad as that in general gameplay. DF just picked a frame to exaggerate things, as they often do these days sadly.
The left hand one looks more like the Switch 2 image quality to be honest!
@CrispyMango92 Yes it's already in the code for RE9.
The firmware update in March is to add it at system level and for a toggle that lets any PSSR game use the PSSR 2.0 tech - despite the likes of DF previously insisting it would have to be done on a game-by-game basis, I'd add.
@carlos82 Same here! Hard to believe it was about 30 years ago I was playing the original on my PS1 on a 28" CRT, jumping off my sofa when those dogs crashed through the hallway window!
Equally hard to believe that I'm lucky enough to be sat here at 55, early retired for a couple of years, and enjoying the same series on a PlayStation, only this time it's a Pro, hooked up to a 65" Sony A95L with a Samsung Q990F Atmos system!
The same and yet not the same. These graphics are something else, just like the audio.
@StitchJones Exactly. Steam machine, whenever it finally does appear, is likely to be far more expensive than even a Pro, and won't get anywhere near it in performance terms, and yet it'll get a pass from PCMR because Valve.
It's easy when you're in a bubble like on these sites to not see the world outside of it - the majority of gamers won't even know who Bluepoint is, let alone what they released, so Sony certainly won't be bothering about 'distraction tactics' or the like.
@DestructionAllstars I kind of agree, and at the end of the day it's their company, their business, they can do whatever the f*** they want with it, same as you and I could.
Late 2028 always felt about right to me anyway, especially with the Pro coming out late 2024. So even if PS6 goes to 2029 I, like most on here, am totally fine with that!
@MFTWrecks What are you saying, you don't enjoy collecting a load of chemical A and a load of B, putting it in a refiner with chemical C for fuel, to get a load less of product D out of it after a period of time while you collect more of it?! And then navigating the build menus to use it?
It's for sure the biggest issue with the early to mid game, if anything even worse than it used to be.
I agree with the review of this. Tried the demo and sure, it's novel, but the reference to Lonely Mountain Downhill is spot-on in terms of the repetition and difficulty spikes.
Yep, it sounds like how I feared it would be...looks great, different, intriguing and fun at first. Couple of hours later it probably turns into a frustrating, repetitive, rage-inducing slog to the point you're relieved when it's over. Lonely Mountains Downhill had the same kind of issues.
I'll watch a few streams of it but this is a nope from me.
This is great. Put a lot of hours into Subnautica, built a big base and even the cyclops so will enjoy trying out the sequel, even with the mixed reception it got. And the others are more interesting than usual.
Been all digital for years so couldn't care less. Save 15% on the price via discounted PSN credit so I'll get it cheaper too. Hardly going to trade it in so that element isn't relevant either.
Now let's wait for all the cope about 'pleased to wait longer' 'wasn't going to buy anyway', 'would rather not buy than buy digitally because I like to shake my fist at a cloud'.

The PCMR doth protest too much, methinks. 😉

GTA VI on Pro will be able to get 40fps easily, especially with PSSR 2.0. And 40 is a hell of a lot better than 30.
