Looking forward to try out Deep Rock Galactic. Good games for the month. I see a lot o people having the same problem (as do I) of a very large backlog of games in their library. Maybe it is a sign that PS Plus should become something more than just a selection of free games every month, and become a more alive and interactive gaming service. Like a club or something.. with new things added as the month goes. For example the community challenges that award players with new profile images and themes. Just some random thoughts..
RE8 deserves to be the Game of the Year. I wish every video game developer handled their best franchises the same way Capcom have been handling Resident Evil!
Hades' legacy will be the high bar it settled for the level of narrative design in quality roguelike games. It should serve as a reference for future games.
After getting Civilization 6 on a PS store sale last month, Planet Coaster this month and Anno1404 free at the Ubisoft connect, I think I am done with simulators for a while..
It was too long. I don't remember being so exhausted watching a event. And I waited until the end in hope for a big reveal.. that ended up being that matrix thing.
It will be interesting to see how the Steam Deck will perform in Japan. It will help the industry understand if the success of Nintendo/Switch games there are solely because of the preference for the mobility that they allow, or because of the specific experiences created by Nintendo.
If the Steam Deck performs good in Japan, it could be another gateway for Sony to sell their titles there. By the way, did Sony said anything regarding how/if the PS Plus and PS Now will work on the Steam Deck?
PS.: I know the Steam Deck won't probably make a dent on Nintendo dominance in Japan, I just said it will be interesting to see how it performs.
@Andywax I am glad that you had a good experience, but I will have to disagree. Yes, it had game breaking issues at launch on PS4, and sometimes I was praying for a no 'console breaking' issue.
Uninstalled and shelved it to a future day. And said that I will only reinstall it when the game is at its optimum state, but I guess at this point this is like seeking the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I hope that this promessed upcoming "major update" will motivate me to reinstall the game and give it another go.
Thank you Eidos-Montréal for restoring my faith in Marvel's games with Guardians of the Galaxy. What a awesome game! It was, hands down, my best gaming experience from 2021. If you haven't played yet, it is on a black friday sale on PS Store, can't miss it.
Returnal should have been nominated for game of the year. The game was an achievement in so many levels. I believe it got unfairly punished for not being a more traditional game. It is The Games Awards loss really, as the place for Returnal in history is secured.
Strange to see so much negative comments regarding a award event created for games. Nowadays I much prefer watching The Game Awards than the Oscars. So yeah, bring it Geoff.
I think I will wait to buy the expansion in a good sale at another time. The cranky and aged character rigging animation and the combat gameplay in Skyrim makes it hard for me to go back to it.
I prefer games with a more immersive combat experience like the souls-like games. I believe this is future and Bethesda should study it closely for TES6.
@Kang81 there is a legendary tier sword called Master's Katana that allow you to switch between all 4 stances. The limit on the number of legendary items you can equip is really annoying though.
I find Legends excellent and I still open it often to complete the nightmare survival challenges of the week. I really hope Sucker Punch greatly expand the Legends concept and the multiplayer parts of the game on the sequel for Ghost of Tsushima. I think the story part of Legends weak though, it needs more characters, a more engaging and better developed storyline and more boss fights.
I avoid talking about this Avengers game, and I will not talk about it now. But regarding the GaaS thing, I have a feeling that games that tend to be more successful in that model are those based on original franchises, instead of famous and already settled ones.
I usually don't participate in WAYPs in the comments, but since this time is such a special occasion I think I must.
I am playing The Outer Worlds. Bought on a PS Store sale to have something to play until Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy launches, now I am taking a time a finish it before starting GotG.
Finally! A game that I really want to sink my teeth into! And after the ever increasing debacle that is that Marvel's Avengers game none the less. I hope Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy do for MCU games the same thing Jedi Fallen Order did for Star Wars.
Makes sense to release the version of Cyberpunk 2077 for current gen consoles only after the game is actually done. But, as I said before, I can't imagine anymore what is a "Cyberpunk 277 done". I watch and rewatch the old trailers to try to remember what we were expecting from that game and I just can't remember. Disenchantment, I guess. Maybe an excellent expansion can turn the tides in the game's favor, but it will take a lot of ba.., courage, from CDPR to start hyping us again for anything Cyberpunk 2077 related. It is what they will have to do, though.
I would go for a Splinter Cell game where you infiltrate the hostile country and start living a double life. You would have a civil life as a cover where you can talk to people to collect information and plan your missions. And then you suit up your stealth gear to complete the missions. Both play styles happening in the same game map. A game that let you feel like a... spy, you know? Crazy, right?
This reminded me of an old article from Push Square — "Sony Patented an eSports Betting System for PS5, PS4". I wonder if there are any correlation. Looks like Sony had a lot of tools to become a betting power house and chose not to take that path. I think it is for the best, so I salute Sony for that.
I was watching a video about the future of Cyberpunk 2077 and it is jarring how CDPR created a game so unfit to receive new content. If you compare with games like Assassin's Creed and GTA. I know it is off topic, but I ask to this day what they were thinking when they were creating that game.
It is the only game I am looking forward to play this year, I think. I am liking what I see and what I read about it. I hope the reviewers get a copy before launch so I can buy it and play it at launch day.
I will pass this Far Cry, but it is a little bit unfair to complain about the "formula" used by Ubisoft, as this is an issue that we can find in most modern open world games. I hope Horizon Forbidden West brings new ideas to the open world experience. It is a genre that have stagnated since its golden age with Skyrim and The Witcher 3. I believe this is what explain the success of the intricate world design used by FromSoftware in their games.
Funny thing. Ubisoft used their same old formula for open world game and invested a lot in the villain for Far Cry 6, famous actor and all. But even in this aspect it is lacking. If you compare him to villains like Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 and Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village, these are all far superior and iconic villains.
FF VII Remake is the best, in my opinion. Too bad it wasn't released as a full game. I hope the next FF remake Square Enix decide to make will be launched as a complete game (my hopes are FF VIII or VI)
They should have leaved the Avengers franchise alone and made up their own new heroes. I actually think it would made it a much more successful game. It would definitely be a much less hated one.
I really wish a big game developer makes a superhero themed triple A game with all new heroes by the way.

I enjoyed watching that video.
Re: There's Definitely a New Ghostbusters Game on the Way
I feel like they should take a close look at the Guardians of the Galaxy game. Lots of dialogue and a linear story, so the game feels like a movie.
