Re: Street Fighter 6 Announced, More Info Hits This Summer

vict0RGM

That countdown was completely unnecessary and the reveal would have been much more impactful if it came without it. I think I even preferred the way the development of GTA6 was announced by Rockstar. It would be good to have a bit of text with an overview of the future of the franchise.

Re: PS5 Architect Mark Cerny to Help on Haven Studios' Inclusive and Caring Online Game

vict0RGM

Seems like a inexperienced developer, trying to implement personal theories about how the internet works (or should "ideally" work) into a game.

I much prefer a developer like Housemarque, that starts by developing small but engaging arcade games. Then go on to develop a big 3D title like Returnal. This is a developer I can and get excited if they say "our next project will be big and we will use the full capabilities of the PS5"

Re: GTA 6 Officially Confirmed, Development Is 'Well Underway'

vict0RGM

As someone who loved the single player experience from GTA V (both the sandbox world and the stories missions), but didn't get into the whole multiplayer experience, I really hope to find in GTA 6 a multiplayer mode as fun and engaging as the single player mode.

A suggestion I would give is to make the character we play in the multiplayer mode not to exist in a world separated from the single player campaign. I don't mean the game letting you play with your multiplayer char in the single player campaign, the protagonist(s) should be the stars of the show there, off course. But a nice way to achieve this could be implemented during the heists missions from the main story. During each one, a collection of characters are randomly generated for you to form your team for the heist, after you do that and complete that heist, each off these chars would have a life of their own, and you could select one to play the multiplayer stories and do other online activities. Your online gameplay would also have an impact on the single player mode, the multiplayer character you've being playing will be stronger and have better gear when participating in next heist missions and you'd also see the modifications in their visuals you made in online mode. When the main story ends, as it eventually will, you would already have a multiplayer char that you'd be already familiarized with and all set to go on playing the future online content that will be added to the game.

Re: PS Plus Reaches Record Number of Subscribers on PS5, PS4

vict0RGM

I must say I have mixed feelings towards this Project Spartacus thing, tending to worrisome. If this is something that will add extra costs, PS Plus will stop being a premium service and become a entry level thing. I guess we will have to wait and see what will be offered, but it is more stuff to evaluate the cost vs benefit.

Re: Reaction: Sony's Bungie Buyout Means Little for PS5, PS4 Fans Right Now

vict0RGM

So with every line of hardware from Sony struggling (digital cameras, cell phones, TVs, etc.) except the PlayStation consoles, which is thriving, Sony strategy is spend billions setting up a future where consoles will be irrelevant? Are you serious?

Sony can go to a thousand places. Want to make series or movies with their franchises? Fine, go to town. If it is good, people will watch. But setting up a future where this will all go without the PlayStation console is like a person that sells his house to go travel. I am sorry to say that, but this is what people that just discover that don't have much more time to live do.

No other piece of technology have proven to be as resilient as the video game console (boxes). It existed before I was alive and it is still going strong and stronger as the times passes. There are no lack of attempts to put out options to gaming without console and they all failed. If Bungie acquisition have anything to do with that, whoever made that move, digged the first hole in what will become Sony's grave.

Re: PlayStation Boss Jim Ryan Says You Should Expect More Acquisitions

vict0RGM

I prefer the time when the discussion was about 'what game developer X is releasing next' to the current 'who is buying who'. Seems like the actual games is being moved to a minor role. But, as is being said, it is like transfer season. I guess the discussion will shift again when we get closer to the summer with the game developers presentations season.

Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

vict0RGM

Looks a lot like a defensive move. A very strategically important one. I imagine this will be very beneficial for other Sony partners. The amount of know-how and technology they will now have access to from Bungie is huge.
But as a RPG games fan, I am a bit upset that the response from Sony regarding the FPS genre seems to be much greater.

Re: Discord's PlayStation Functionality Is Official, and It's Rolling Out Now

vict0RGM

I will assume that is just Sony testing the waters with Discord. But here are two suggestions for the next steps:

1 - Create a official PlayStation server on Discord. The worst thing about discord is how messy a server can become, and with a official PlayStation server, Sony will set the bar on the quality level that is expected to any server that is any how related to the PlayStation/Sony Interactive Entertainment brands.

2 - Work with Discord to release its application for PlayStation and let it be a entry point to the integrations of the functionalities from Discord PlayStation users expect to use.

Re: Sony Team London Studio Bolstering Ranks for Online PS5 Game

vict0RGM

I admit it would be interesting to have something like Home to open on PlayStation from time to time. It is a point that I brought on comments before - that PlayStation should work towards giving its users more meaningfull ways to interact between them. Imagine, for example, forming a team in a game like Home to play a match in Ghost of Tsushima Legends. It would add a extra layer of meaningfulness to the team you formed and the match played. Each game would have its own "room" or "space" that could be a generic/default place or customized by the game developer (like Twitch give a page for each game at the so called "Categories"), and players could explore and seamless access the game's multiplayer modes from that space or just interact with others players for a moment. A product like that would give PlayStation a lot of options to integrate services like the "new PS Plus", Discord, the recently announded PlayStation Tournaments and others.

"Perhaps the team’s cooking some kind of alternative to Borderlands, maybe?"
I hope not, honestly. Borderlands' formula is outdated and I think players deserves something new. Look at how Outriders performed. Far from what is expected from a game being developed in partnership with PlayStation.

Re: Ubisoft Pulls the Plug on Watch Dogs Legion PS5, PS4 Updates

vict0RGM

The only Watch Dogs game I tried was the second and I don't think I played it for more than a hour. The only thing I remember about it was my char trying to get something under some kind of bridge. Call me crazy but I had much more fun playing Just Cause 3 and 4. I actually finished both games and it have a much more entertaining open world sandbox imo.

Re: Sony Pictures Classics Acquires Rights to Movie Being Painted in PS4 Game Dreams

vict0RGM

I agree with the suggestions to have Dreams on PC. It would be a important step to the game as a development tool. With this port, maybe Sony could work toward integrating Dreams with other development environments like Unity and Unreal Engine and letting developers import/export creations between both.

If Sony play its cards right, Dreams could very well become a place for small independent developers as important as big ones like Steam and mobile stores. But Sony will have to provide monetization solutions for developers that choose to release their creations in Dreams.

Re: Poll: Does Sony Need to Take Action After Microsoft's Activision Buyout?

vict0RGM

@Shakybeeves
Deviation Games is developing a First Person Shooter game based on a original IP in partnership with PlayStation, is what I understand from the articles I read. Off course multiplayer should be a important part of the product.

Firewalk Studios is developing a multiplayer game focused game in partnership with PlayStation, also based on a original IP. Something to compete with the likes of Fortnite, I would image.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

vict0RGM

I like the single player experiences as much as the next PlayStation user, but Sony doesn't have the luxury anymore of observing from a higher ground games that have as the core of its business model its popularity and user base.

Sony have all the tools it need and a whole lot of options to keep being a major player in the gaming and entertainment business. If it doesn't it will be because of lack of vision and feeling from those in leadership positions.

The commentary section from this article looks like a bunch of people running around and screaming as the ship is sinking. I hope Sony have the minimum level of expertise in business to not make decisions based on who screams the loudest — a rare thing nowadays.
