Lets hope they give some money off PS+ subs for those of us loyal customer types so we can stack them without having to "upgrade".

@Sergo Yeah, no DLC will be included. That said, the main game will keep you going for ages . After that, keep an eye out on the Store for the DLC on sale.

@AhmadSumadi Same with me - had high hopes as looked amazing but the game played like an absolute car crash.

Anyone know if it's a free upgrade for those who paid for/suffered the PS4 iteration? Not hoping for much as I don't think it was the PS4 Pro holding it back...

PSVR2 - alongside this the PS Vita looked like a storming success.
I know that the controls were different but the lack of backwards compatibility seemed like a major misstep - especially given something so niche.

@Grumblevolcano Of courses PS6 won't support either of the previous iterations but Sony will probably announce PSVR3 for the PS6 which is also not compatible with the previous ones.

@twitchtvpat @get2sammyb @themightyant I know hardware only accounts for a small percentage but the PS4 and PS5 are at odds with the old consoles because Sony effectively lost revenue with each one they sold (certainly in the case of the PS3 fatties) No effort remasters and MTXs must be propping up PS.

Still prefer the last generation (and the one before) to this one. Lets face it, the PS5 is STILL standing on the shoulders of the PS4. At this rate, the PS6 will be doing too.

Don't get me wrong - I like it when Sony do things right (just bought an Xperia 10 VI to replace an XA2 and we still have our Bravia TV, PS3 Slim and PS4 Pro) but they seem to just be concentrating on profit when they have little to offer. Kind of wish MS were still relevant...

By far the most expensive PS ever makes more money than all the others? Not really a surprise is it?
Most of the early PSs made a small loss and recouped the cost from the software licences. The PS3 fatty made a large loss per console due to the tech in it, but the PS4 levelled out the loss but cost a lot less than the PS5.
Maybe all those pointless PS4 remakes are adding into the PS coffers too?

Everybody's Golf: Hot Shots is actually the game I'm looking forward to most.
Forgot about Crimson Desert - hope it's actually fun to play rather than Black Desert which looked amazing but was a totally confusing bore fest. I had no idea what was going on in that game...

For those who are old enough, like me, it almost seems that MS will be doing an MSX - i.e. the next Xbox will not be a box but a spec of PC. In order to run their games, your PC must meet certain criteria.
IF they manage to keep the UI (in console 'mode') to be bare minimum like a console dashboard, then that could be a turning point for them.

As for the PS6, well who knows? It'll be another Unix-based OS custom box, hopefully designed by someone with working eyes this time unlike the PS5's gargantuan size, weight and weirdness. What they really need to do though is to go back to the end of PS3/start of PS4 era and work out what made them great and stand out in that era. Sure they're selling a decent number of PS5s but the software output for the tub o' lard has been below par.

@REALAIS @Rob_230 Yes, the PS5 seems to have a curious issue where it tries to suck in as much fluff as possible and leave it on the fan and all the innards. It's way worse than the PS4 but at least you can pop a side off and get the hoover in there a bit easier.

Given that the DS4 could be plugged in and update it's pairing in no time at all, the DS5 is just a weird pain to unregister and re-register every time you want use your controller on a different system.

Was hoping for Avowed PS5 edition - oh well.

We've been waiting so long for another decent Sonic racer and it looks like they might have finally delivered.
The ones still stuck on the PS3 (why?) are still better than the Italian plumber (there, I said it) so let's hope this new Sonic entry doesn't disappoint.

Looks very good but, as with all racing games, it all depends on the car handling.

Great to see Everybody's Golf back - but I find myself being pulled to buy the Switch version? Might just double dip...

Got Essential too - think I'm more likely to buy them for £4.39 each, rather than wasting money on the overpriced Premium.

Saved me having to buy it day one so I'm happy waiting - probably if it appears in a sale? Loved the PS3 original.

@nhSnork ModNation Racers was brilliant - shame it's all shut down now. Another Sony travesty, considering San Diego Studios (I think) did ModNation: World Tour for the Vita.

The PS5 will never be as stable as the PS4 - mainly due to that wonky design.

Be interesting to see if a equivalent PS4 patch turns up later...?

FFS, Sony. Then again, this is what happens when Sony has no competition; Xbox is coughing up blood in the corner and Nintendo seem to have delusions of grandeur after their success with their PS2, the Switch.

It's expensive for its age - disc drive PS4 Pro was £300 more often than not by this time in it's generation and I had more fun with that console than I've had with the disappointing PS5.

Of course the PS5 would be cheaper if Yankee-Doodle Sony hadn't upped the price of the PS5 by £30 everywhere apart from their home country of the USA a few years ago....

Been a PS+ subscriber since the PS3/Vita days but let it lapse last year. Needed to back up some PS5 game saves and as Fony don't give the option to back up PS5 saves onto USB unlike the PS4, I had to renew - used some better value PS gift cards from ShopTo though.

PS5 - for the payers...

Wish Games Workshop would licence a Warhammer Fantasy Role-Playing game instead of the 40K universe.

Buy it online or a 2nd hand copy from eBay if you want it (and have a disc drive)....

Main thing, Sammy, is that physical games are often cheaper than the digital releases which should not be the case. Leave a game alone for a month or two, and the disc with packaging, distribution, manufacturing costs are often £10 less than the Store price.
Other plus for physical is that some de-listed games (e.g. Driveclub) are still live on the server for all the patches, etc. so while from a digital point of view, the game doesn't exist, a physical disc unlocks the games and any patches or previously bought DLC.

Last game I bought for full price on release day was probably Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on the PS2 for £40!
Otherwise, I'm fine waiting a for a month or two and buy a disc from an online retailer for tens of pounds less than the joke store price.

I'd buy Broforce 2 for full price, if they ever get round to making one, but that also won't be £80. These days, high price does not equate with high quality gameplay.

If Sony did a PS+ for about £40 with online game save backups and online gaming, I think that would be the most popular option by far.

The 'free' games on Essential and Extra recently have been dire, and pretty much will be on sale on the store at the same time. I miss the PS4 days where I can back up my game saves on a USB stick.

Might have been interested in "Gloomhaven Mercenaries Edition (PS5, PS4)" but I renewed on Essential. That said, it's just over a tenner on the PS Store.

Let's not forget, Sony increased the price by £30 everywhere apart from the USA well before Johnny Fartpants got in power for the 2nd time.

Perhaps they should have popped the side panels off and hoovered it out before the event as the PS5 does seem to suck up a lot of fluff that gets stuck inside it and that isn't going to help with cooling.

@Andy22385 Yes, CEX isn't the best example these days.

Admittedly I bought mine in Black Friday prices around Christmas time, but I got a 'very good' condition (turned out to be mint) PS5 disc drive fatty with all the cables and so on for £344 from Music Magpie. Even had a 1TB Seagate Firecuda expansion in it's expansion port that someone couldn't be bothered or forgot to remove.

There are so many used PS5s (and Pros) out there, dunno why anyone is buying a new one.
Save yourself a few hundred quid by getting a used A-grade one from Amazon, eBay, Music Magpie, CEX, Cash Converters, etc, etc.

The original Control was excellent - intriguing and scary in equal amounts.
Got into playing the original on the PS4 Pro and it played smooth as anything and I don't think I encountered any bugs.
Couldn't be bothered to restart on the PS5 as the saves didn't transfer for some still-unexplained reason?

MS will leave the next gen to Wintel based PCs with a set of predefined Xbox specifications. Can't see there's any other way to fight their own incompetence but a baby PC sitting in the corner of the room instead of a dedicated console could be an attractive proposition for some as an alternative to the PS6 (let's hope that looks better than the current eyesore)

Media Molecule's LBP1 & 2 (still stuck on the PS3) are a class above the rather dull A Big Adventure. Shutting down the LBP servers was just a move too far in my opinion. How much does it cost to host all that user created content online?

No point giving Sony any more money - there are shed loads of used very good/mint condition PS5s out there.

Just go to CEX/Cash Converters/Music Magpie and look for a PS5 - I got a mint condition 1216 model disc-drive Fatty (with an extra 1TB storage that someone had forgotten to take out!) from MM for £340 in their Black Friday sale at the end of last year.

Always wait for update 1.4 before plunging into any Bethesda game - that way they've normally fixed all the things that were broken originally or got broken in updates 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3 so everything is a bit more stable.

It's funny that we used to have blockbuster films and they then spawned a game on the home consoles/computers of the time (e.g. Batman on the ZX Spectrum, C64, Amiga) and now we just seem to have films being made of games.

I've still got the original on my PS3 (don't remember it ("ran like sh*t on the PS3")) but perhaps I need to start it up and see if I'm looking through rose-tinted glasses or if it was that bad?
I'm sure a few patches (wouldn't be a Bethesda original without it!) and it'll stabilise a lot.

@belmont Same here - no automatic notification but it was there in the System Update settings.
Now if only Sony would allow us to customise the dreary'"music" on the dashboard.

@HUMPERDOO PS3 & PS4 UIs are still light years ahead of the 5.

If this does well, we could end up with ANOTHER version of Skyrim - dear lord, no....
