Slowly, we’re starting to see more of Sony’s redesigned PS5 home menu, which is currently available to a select few users for beta testing.
The new layout incorporates a ribbon at the top which can be navigated using the L1 and R1 buttons. This allows you to quickly switch between different screens, including your Games, Library, Media Apps, PS Plus, and the PS Store.
While we’re eager to get our hands on the redesign for ourselves, this seems like an obvious improvement to us.
Currently you can switch between Games and Media using the same controls, but the main panel features a lot of unnecessary icons, like the PS Store and PS Plus. This is going to place the emphasis back on your games, without putting those other apps out of reach.

Sony’s yet to officially acknowledge the change so there’s no word on when it’ll roll out worldwide, but we reckon this is all looking very sensible from what we’ve seen so far.
