S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl releases for PS5 on 20th November 2025, a new set of PS Store pre-order listings has revealed. While developer GSC Game World does not appear to have said anything publicly on the new release date just yet, the hardcore FPS can be pre-ordered now on Sony's digital storefront.
There are three different editions to choose from:
- Standard Edition (£49.99 / $59.99) — Base game only
- Deluxe Edition (£64.99 / $79.99) — Base game, Deluxe Weapons & Suit Pack, Side Quest, Artbook, Soundtrack
- Ultimate Edition (£94.99 / $109.99) — Base game, all contents of the Deluxe Edition, Season Pass

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the unforgiving FPS survival adventure in a dark science-fiction open world. Scavenge for gear and resources, hunt for wonders, make hard decisions to survive and pave the path through the Chornobyl Anomalous Zone.
A physical version of the game will also be available, but it will require a download to start. Pre-orders for boxed copies are available worldwide now.
When the PS5 version launches, it'll also be packing every post-launch update from the original Xbox, PC launch, as well as a future engine upgrade. "Our main mission in the near future is upgrading the game to Unreal Engine 5.5.4. This will bring new features and tools to make the Zone an even better place, but more importantly — bringing the latest Unreal Engine 5 optimizations will lead to better stability and performance.

So did Xbox renegotiate the exclusivity period to 12 months or is the date just a coincidence?
I'll be picking it up at some point
@SeaDaVie must be the same sort of coincidence as Black Myth Wukong managing to solve it's supposed tech issues on Xbox so it launches exactly a year after the PS5 launch. 🤔
Stalker 2 is my favourite game released on Xbox and I hope it does well on PS5 too.
A very immersive and dark experience that I have enjoyed a lot.

I was interested but after learning a download is required that interest quickly faded. I won’t support Microsoft & Co’s ongoing war against physical media.
So tired of open world games ;( Will wait reviews for this but when i see something it's open world my eyes doesnt shine anymore; at least not after RDR2
This was horrible to play on Game Pass. I'm sure it will be flawless on the PS5 though. That seems to be the norm nowadays.
Really good game since the patches earlier in the year and they haven’t stopped tuning it. Think of a grimmer Fallout. A lot of time crouched in ruined buildings wondering what to do now and bursts of violence that are so very satisfying when you get it right.
@Oxy Is that confirmed? As in "only a download cue on disc"?
@PerpetualBoredom The only thing confirmed is that a download will be required. This is almost always code for “not entire game on disc”.
In a best case scenario (unlikely) the whole game except DLC could be on the disc, more likely is an arbitrary amount of the game present on disc.
@Oxy (#12) Well, while that would be mildly annoying, it would also save me money.
