All Three Classic Gothic Games Are Coming to PS5, PS4

I know nothing of this series except that I always hear it’s underrated. Much like the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Trilogy I’ll give it a go to get a flavor for the original before I settle on the newest one.

I never played these. Would it be better to wait for the remake at this point instead of playing the classic version?

I could never get into it. The world is sort of ugly and the voice acting is subpar. The combat is unintuitive and the control scheme, in general, is unnecessarily clunky. It's a weird game, all in all.

I gave it few hours in those times with common result "That is good I'll finish it later..." ...it looks like now is that "later". But please DON'T make remake. Screw something else, but not Gothic!

I Wouldn't mind seeing Two Worlds 1 and 2 get ether a Remaster or Remake or the Sacred Trilogy.

@djlard Struggling to understand why you'd be so bothered about a game getting remade that you only ever played for 3 hours AND they're giving you the option to play the original version anyway so just don't play the remake?

Please make it physical with everything on disc 🤩

Gothic 1 and 2 have achieved a sort of cult following here in Poland. Apart from Gothic games being good or very good overall, the reasons it landed so well in Poland (I think) were:

1) Brilliant Polish voice acting
2) Setting and story more familiar to European medieval aesthetic than whatever you could see in most high-fantasy games
3) Overall grittiness and depressing tone with an occasional dose of sarcasm resonated oh-so-well with our Polish tastes

Anyway, if these games were to release without a full, Polish dub, this would be a huge shame. Hope they include this in the remaster.

@BecauseBecause I just don't like remakes, because in 90% they screw it somehow. Final Fantasy 7 is huge example. Nice graphics, but combat is screwed so much so it's even boring to watch. But it all is my own opinion...

@djlard I understand where you're coming from but again, you can still play the original FF7. I didn't mind the combat in FF7 remake but it was far from what I wanted too in a remake. It strayed too far away and messed with the storyline. But they're still good games, just not what I expected lol.

Then there's Crash where they messed up the jump, so again, I get it in that way. I wouldn't agree that 90% mess up a remake though.

@BecauseBecause Remasters work good (Medievil, Diablo 2, Soul Reaver, Mass Effect...) but remakes, in most of times, ruin the fun someway and I rather avoid them and play original.
