BioShock PS5

Despite facing considerable development issues and having already been gestating for years now, BioShock 4 publisher Take-Two remains extremely confident the game will release at some point.

A couple of weeks ago, a Bloomberg report confirmed developer Cloud Chamber is undergoing a leadership change after reportedly failing a publisher review. This will supposedly lead to an overhaul of the project and changes made to the game's story. "Right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one," 2K Games said at the time.

Now, speaking to IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, implies the company is committed to getting the game out of the door. "It’s going to come out. That I can say hand on heart, without question."

Zelnick admits it faces a tough challenge following up on the work Ken Levine and his team did during the PS3 era, but the firm remains up to the task.

"That said, we have very big shoes to fill on BioShock because of the legacy of Ken Levine, the legacy of what has gone before, which has been so successful," he said. "And we need to make sure that this experience is true to the BioShock DNA on the one hand, and a massive step forward on the other hand. That's always challenging. We think we're up to the challenge, but it has not been seamless."

After making the original BioShock trilogy, Ken Levine left the company to establish Ghost Story Games, which is now making Judas, a title similar in look to BioShock but instead incorporates rogue-lite elements. It too was announced a number of years ago, but remains in active development with no clear release window.

For now, you can play the complete BioShock Collection via PS4 backwards compatibility on PS5. A remake of the PS3 original was also mentioned in the Bloomberg report, but work on it has reportedly been shelved.
