@jgrangervikings1 no matter how much you're making, you can tell if something is a steal or not. Especially if you weren't always well off. Sure, some people forget and other pretend to forget how they used to live, but it's the exception that people are completely detached from reality.
Bottom line: compared to other forms of entertainment, (going out with friends for drinks, going to, to concerts, to the cinema, to the opera, etc), it's a steal, though not as much as Netflix and other streaming platforms.
@John_Deacon why would you add DLC and season passes? And why would you buy it at launch, when you can't afford it? With movie tickets, you can't wait to watch it at the cinemas at a lower price (the experience at home isn't the same). And if you want the extras (e.g. deleted scenes, extended version), you have to buy the DVD/bluray etc.
Even people at the top can compare apples to apples and realize that especially certain video games offer tremendous value for money compared to other forms of entertainment.
it's not like he's saying that 1,000 USD tickets to Taylor Swift aren't expensive.
@Juanalf all those are extras that you can completely ignore and greatly enjoy the base game. Like we used to do before all these additions (DLC, expansions, etc) became the norm.
@FinneasGH exactly. Nice to see the voice of reason every now and then. As if any one of us were in their shoes, we could guarantee that every single employee works ethically. What matters is what you do after you find out.
@Dr-zoidburg even when they offer no new games, the fact that it lets you stream games is a pretty big deal for some people, including myself, especially for psportal. The existing catalogue has more games I could ever play.
@CielloArc It’s a completely different game. It’s not an option between Tekken 7 and 8. Different characters, different gameplay, etc. Also, not everyone wants to keep playing the same game for years or needs continuous support to enjoy it.
@ArcadeSixties I strongly disagree. Nintendo is lucky to have some of the strongest ips and fans who trust them with whatever they release. Not many companies have that luxury. There is very little doubt in my mind that if they were to release games under a different name, they'd flop. Like Gamefreak with "Tembo the Badass Elephant".
@Korgon it's quite simple, though. We're talking about incredibly sad individuals who have been hurt by others throughout their lives and are so damaged that hating on others is all they have left. They'll direct their anger towards customer service, waitresses, etc. Anyone who can't/ won't fight back.
@Max_the_German yeah, so the argument doesn't hold any water because a) that was before the acquisitions of several studios as well as the biggest publisher of many top selling franchises b) they also released older games. If Sony were to release all the first party games they have since ps2 on xbox, they'd flood the market.
@Frmknst plenty of people buy games and say they hate them. Don't you remember what happened when the Last of Us 2 was released? Or Spider-man 2? Or any other game that had issues?
@RiverGenie no it's not. We all know what it means, because we understand context. Just like when you book a room at a hotel and get a "free massage". When you pay entrance fee to an event and get a "free drink". It means "at no additional cost". It's that simple.
@KingPev yes, in many ways it's even better than the base game. It's much more linear and focuses on story and action, while also introducing new spells. I bought it when it was on discount and thought it was a steal. If it's on sale again, you should definitely consider getting it. It only takes a few hours to beat, but it's action packed. Highly recommended.
After beating the wonderful Forspoken (including the DLC), I finally started playing Veilguard. Just like Forspoken, it seems like it didn't deserve any of that hate. A very well made and fun game. I may upgrade to the deluxe edition, just to support them, even belatedly.
@wildcat_kickz I agree about the first part, but even with zero other options, I don't think people will necessarily buy a certain product. Not if they consider it too expensive or if they're simply not interested enough in it.

Re: Apr 2025 USA Sales: PS5 Ports Award Microsoft's Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones Huge Boosts
@liathach indeed. They totally forgot to make games. How silly of them.
Re: PlayStation Stars Rewards Program Shutting Down, Sony Confirms
The absolute embarrassment of it all.
Whoever is in charge of these decisions needs to be replaced already.
Re: Hellblade 2 Announced for PS5, Out This Summer
Yes, please! This and Fable are all I ever wanted from Xbox.
Re: Blades of Fire (PS5) - Steely Action with Blunt Art and Storytelling
@ChrisDeku haha. Good point.
Re: Rumour: Bungie Targeting a Top Five 2025 Title with Marathon
@Athrum he's only interested in clicks. He'll say anything to get his articles attention while hiding behind his anonymous "source".
Re: Rumour: Bungie Targeting a Top Five 2025 Title with Marathon
@LogicStrikesAgain yup. It becomes a self-fulfilled prophecy, like it happened with PSVR2 and psvita.
Re: Rumour: Bungie Targeting a Top Five 2025 Title with Marathon
This is no better than a tabloid magazine story. They're equally "well-connected".
Must be nice to be in a field where you can come up with anything and use a "dude, trust me" source.
Re: Intergalactic Recruits New The Last of Us Season 2 Actor for PS5 Game
@playstation1995 you can only talk about yourself. As for the rest, you can never tell if it's a loud minority or not.
Re: Neil Druckmann Confirms Involvement in Second Unannounced Naughty Dog Project
@Fishnpeas and you know this, how exactly?
Re: Beloved Ex-PlayStation Boss Believes $70, $80 Games Are a Steal
@jgrangervikings1 indeed. It greatly depends on the game, but yeah, come to think of it, I’ve never had a serious issue with a Sony first party game

@DonkeyFantasy but you can sell it immediately and make a significant amount back, if it's physical or a game on steam.

And he's absolutely right, but internet people assume that's not the case because other internet people are equally unreasonable.

Re: Play One of This Month's Most Promising PS5 Games Right Now
I played the demo for a bit and I saw enough to know I'll enjoy it. I immediately deleted it. I'll buy the game when it gets a price cut or two.
Re: Bungie Conducting 'Thorough Review' After Plagiarised Art Is Found in Marathon
Just another case of blowing things way out of proportion. Glad to see that Bungie reacted immediately and did the right thing.

Re: 25+ PS5, PS4 Games You Must Buy Cheap in PS Store's Indie Sale
@AtlasLivesAgain both excellent games, though perhaps due to nostalgia Tombi/Tomba will always have a special place in my heart.
Re: Mortal Kombat Fans Are Fuming MK1's Support Appears to Be Over
@CielloArc so what if the competitors are doing 10+? Are all companies suppose to do whatever everyone else is doing?
Re: Mortal Kombat Fans Are Fuming MK1's Support Appears to Be Over
Well, the first trailer they released gave me hope they'd add Xena as a DLC character. Guess that's not happening after all...
Would have bought the game in a heartbeat :/

Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Struggles for Sales in Japan, Despite JRPG Inspirations
@Jrs1 I don’t think those sell that well either. Just Nintendo.
Re: Stellar Blade Dev Shows Off Silky Smooth Steam Deck Gameplay
@DonkeyFantasy same here. At 15 quid, I'll likely get it. But I can wait.
Re: PS5's Share of Active US Players Is Slowly Beginning to Pummel Xbox
@Morzy because of his "glorious" decisions that affect all gamers, even the rest of us in Europe to offset tarrifs he's imposing in the US.

@BLKxHER0 I feel the exact same way!
Re: Diablo 4's Berserk Crossover DLC Costs an Insane $150
@DarthOreo exactly
Re: Diablo 4's Berserk Crossover DLC Costs an Insane $150
I find this quite disingenuous. Who exactly needs to buy every single cosmetic item?
Every item is expensive on its own, but this kind of reporting and the reaction to it is all sorts of wrong.

@Zuljaras just wanted to say that Heroes of Might and Magic is my favourite franchise ever. Looking forward to Olden Era.

The struggle is real.

@Oram77 it is, but I really don't see them taking it :/

Please don't follow suit, Sony...
