The Finals has just dropped with a new limited-time game mode as part of its 8.3.0 update that sees you fighting up in the clouds of the afterlife while knocking people to their demise – along with free rewards to earn from it, many of which look pretty heavenly.
Known as 'Heaven or Else', this new time-limited mode consists of a simple Team vs Team brawl, but with a twist: both teams are armed with jump pads, healing emitters, goo grenades, a charge and slam, and a spear, the latter of which is effectively tuned to hurl your enemies to their grave from the heights in the clouds.
Each team will have to fight for their spot in the afterlife by pushing their adversaries off raised platforms by any means necessary – all of which is made easier by the physics adjustment in the arena to make each hit you throw (or take) send the receiver hurling in the direction you hit them. This results in fun and chaotic fights, as both teams scramble to stay afloat and avoid plummeting below.
But this new game mode isn't the only part of the Heaven or Else event.
Along with it comes a set of contracts that yield free cosmetic rewards, one set being based on heaven (consisting of marble and gold weaponry, along with an aptly-branded 'HOLTOW Pearly Gates Insurance' and pure white outfit), and the other one being that of the fiery pit below, containing smouldering lava weaponry, red horns and a red jumpsuit.
These cosmetics aren't the only new outfits available, however, as the six sponsored esports teams who qualified for the 2025 Grand Major have been given their own set of outfits, so you can show your allegiance to your favourite team in-game.
Many subtle changes have also been made, such as quality of life improvements to maps and settings, along with weaponry and gear changes that may affect the way you play certain weapons.
