Re: Hades 2 Will Do You a Favour and Duck the Hectic September Schedule on PS5

@Northern_munkey Oh, man! How awesome is that? Thanks for letting me know. Yeah, it's pretty addictive and well made. Currently playing Nerd survivors, which I find quite enjoyable, but far from great. It lacks a decent budget so it heavily relies on being impossible to beat unless you grind to death just to beat the second stage (which is the same as the first one, but more difficult)

I'll never get tired of singing the first game's praises. It was simply brilliant.

Two things I found particularly annoying:

1. If your controller runs out of battery, the game doesn't pause, which can be infuriating if you're in a tough spot.

2. Because everything is so random, so is triggering certain conversations to get certain rewards and trophies. I got all trophies apart from one and then spent countless hours beating the game over and over again, because I simply didn't know why a certain character wouldn't show up in my room to give me something. Thankfully, right before losing my sanity, it finally happened.

Which reminds me, I should simply play and forget about trophies or being a completionist. The dialogues were so varied and fun that I couldn't let it go.

@jerrylongbones yeah, I get that. Personally, I have no interest in first person games and whatever GTA is, though I did give San Andreas a try back in the day. So, I'm sure most people skip them because they're not interested in them, not for a moral high ground. Even if some people give such a vibe, I'm sure they'd actually play them if they were interested in them in the first place. And they could always pretend they didn't.

@jerrylongbones I think it may be because a lot of great games fail to sell anywhere near as well, despite being well made, innovative, passion projects etc. So, we don't get a sequel for e.g. Tearaway, but we get CoD 234. As for GTA, it's still sad to see such an old game outperforming new games, considering that they need the sales, whereas GTA clearly doesn't.

@16BitHero the ones that are successful tend to have good budgets and involve excellent actors (even if they don't look or act exactly like them). The recipe for success is pretty clear.

Also, again, even though you're that video games have come far, when a video character says something, it's hard to see them as anything other than a video game character, since they still don't act like human beings 100%. And then when you control them, they don't move 100% like human beings. So in terms of immersion, they are very different mediums.

@Godot25 it's impossible to know without concrete numbers. For example, this generation xbox performed worse than the last. So at least some people moved to ps5/switch or even PC. Digital library is one of the main reasons I won't be leaving Sony unless something major happens, but not everyone is the same.

So, I still think exclusives are important. Some more than others.
