Re: Starfield Could Have Released on PS5 Already, Work Has Been Ongoing for a While

That’s the problem with delayed releases. The Day One hype generates a lot of FOMO and impulse purchases. However, releasing on another platform to middling reviews kills the hype quickly. Now PlayStation owners know what the product is without hype blinding them. I’ll get Starfield, but it won’t be Day One like it would have been. It’ll be when it’s around $14.99.

Re: PS5 Sales Continue to Outpace PS4 in the USA, the Best-Selling System Last Month

lacerz

That’s pretty impressive, especially without a price decrease (and it even increased in some locations)! 52 months in the PS4 had global sales of 60 million. I know this only covers the US, but if the 7% increase were consistent in every region that’d put the PS5 around 64.2 million. If you take the 2:1 ratio for Xbox sales last gen, it would put them around 24.3 million Series X/S. Total it up and you have 88.5 million PS5/Xbox consoles this gen as opposed to 90 million last around this point.

Re: April Could Be a Colossal Month from Xbox on PS5

Sony has historically released games just fine. Their pivot to live service games, majority of which have now been cancelled, changed that. Fortunately for PlayStation owners, as Sony moves into recovery mode, Microsoft has shifted to a multiplatform developer, filling in the gaps. Luck and timing were with Sony on this one.

Re: Xbox's Fable Could Launch Day One on PS5

I’m expecting it to be another Microsoft Studios 7/8 rated game that I may pick up on sale. Way too early to tell, but there’s a well founded history dating back to the 360 to base that thought pattern on. Hopefully I’m wrong and MS ups the quality.

AI Overview

While you can technically insert a physical game disc and start playing, most modern physical games require some initial installation and updates from the internet before you can fully play them due to the need to download additional game data and patches for optimal performance and bug fixes; meaning you usually cannot play a physical game without any updates at all.
Key points to remember:
Installation from disc:
Even with a physical disc, a large portion of the game data needs to be installed on your console's hard drive for faster loading times.
Patches and updates:
Developers often release updates for physical games to fix bugs, add new features, and improve gameplay, which usually need to be downloaded even if you have a physical copy

Re: Poll: Do You Use PS Stars?

Can’t say I’ve ever paid it much mind after it launched. I got some digital award that I thought would have been cool in a HOME space, but give. HOME is long gone I didn’t give it any more thought.

I did check it after reading the Push Square article on being able to get PSN credits again and found I had $30 worth of points, but that’s it.

Re: Poll: Did You Buy a PS5 Pro?

I’m typically a Day One person, but as quickly as the PS5 generation seems to be running the PS6 will be out before we know it. I may get one, but it’s unlikely.
