Sublime Murder Mystery The Invisible Hours Hopes to Get a Remaster 1

People don’t talk about the phenomenal murder mystery game The Invisible Hours anywhere near enough.

Originally released for PSVR, the title is all about observation, as a story unfolds linearly in a mansion, and you decide who to follow and what to see.

The game requires multiple playthroughs, as you gradually uncover the plot by watching everything that occurs within the house.

It underperformed at launch and was later patched to be played without a virtual reality headset, and now there’s hope for a remaster.

You may recall following the closure of developer Tequila Works that it was auctioning off its assets, and the rights to The Invisible Hours were purchased by original writer Rob Yescombe.

Speaking with UploadVR, he revealed that he’s now planning to remaster the game, and is hoping to find a partner who will help him realise his goal.

He said:

“The vision is we want to remaster this thing. For the wider audience, that is essentially a new product for them. And for a publisher who buys into that, they're getting all the production spend essentially for the price of a remaster.”

While he talks a lot about virtual reality in the interview, including PSVR2, we suspect a remaster could work on traditional pancake platforms as well.

It’ll be interesting to see if Yescombe can find a company willing to fund this, because really all it needs is a fresh lick of paint and a marketing budget. We wouldn’t change too much about the original story, because it’s great.
