Not a big RE guy (but did play and love RE2R/RE3R and dabbled in RE7 (also purchased but haven't gotten around to RE8/RE4R) but seeing NUKED Raccoon City I lost my sh*t 🤣 Such a cool idea/setting, investigating in an abandoned/nuked/post zombie outbreak City 👌

I wonder if the whole game is played as Grace or if they are going to throw in some OG characters if we're returning to Racoon City. I'm glad it seems to be third person.

@Nepp67 5 was ok-ish, 6 is well.... 6 lol, 7 was really grounded (the first half anyway), and 8 just lost the plot (the tank section was awful)

Can't wait, super cool to be going back to Racoon City after everything that happened in previous games

I just hope they aren't going use supernatural like stuff and explain it in a sci-fi way like they did in RE7 and 8! I just hate that Scooby Doo nonsense!

Going back to Racoon City way after the nuke is awesome. Now to hope and pray it runs better than Wilds and Dogma and has textures that don't look like they fell of the PS2 cart.

So that duskgolem guy was full of bs. He said the game will be Leon and Jill partner up and took place in an island with semi-open world style. Turns out it goes back to Raccoon City and with Outbreak protag daughter as the main character?

Really looking forward to RE9. I do like that they keep changing the formula and trying different things, so I am eager to see what they come up with...

Name reminds me of that early sketch Limmy did where he would phone up his mates house and ask to speak to their daughter and then would then shout in a devilish voice “requiem” down the phone at her. He would do it over and over again over time . This games a nod to Limmy, imho

Yeah, that is Day 1. My game list just keeps getting better by the day.

@PuppetMaster No he didn’t, he said months ago that was a version of the game that was CANCELLED due to dev issues.

In recent months he’s said about:

• Returning to Racoon City
• Leon as ONE of the playable characters
• A gothic vibe for the game
• Return to more tense horror compared to 8

And all of that was true; he even hinted the name of the game 30 minutes before the reveal.

(On Leon I’m guessing the “action sequences” Geoff talked about will be his parts, where as Grace will have the more vulnerable stalker stealth horror sections)

Oh man. I've been such a nerd for this franchise for 27 years. This was the second best reveal (only because the RE2 remake reveal will never be topped). I've already got my Out of Office on the calendar for this day. Here. We. Go.

Super day one! It actually makes no difference to me if is first or third person as I love both.

@GloriosaDaisy horror and rpgs are both booming again and I'm loving it. We eating good over the past couple of years (re8, silent hill 2 remake, scorn, the bunker, Alan wake 2 etc). There are also non horror games with creepy or weird vibes (dredge, lies of p etc). Still wishing we got Dino Crises Remake, now that would blow my goddamn mind haha.

@twitchtvpat I'm the only big RE fan in my friends group, so everyone else was laughing at me when I got my hopes up earlier in the presentation.

In RE7 you can find an artcile written by Alyssa Ashcroft. The mother of Grace. A report about 20 people missing. It was dated 2016!

Ready to dive into this, with it coming out next year that will give me plenty of time to replay RE7 so this is easily the most exciting game from Summerfest.

Day one. Cannot wait! I do hope for a psvr2 mode, but don't mind if they don't. I want to hope that referencing Outbreak, they'll be remastering those multiplayer games. That was the only time they've got multiplayer RE right.

When the video started I actually thought it was an advert before the proper game footage started, it looked so real. Wow.

What a pity it's not 2025, but also not so far away. Prefer it's not open-world as it was rumoured, but I guess I'll buy day 1 anyway as I love this franchise

Hell yes been playing RE since the PS1 days, what a genius move returning to raccoon City after the nuke! Day 1 for me.

Hope they do a VR version.

My dream job in gaming is to be the person at Capcom who comes up how to sneak the sequel number into the title of whatever new Resident Evil is coming out.

Is it just me that's bothered by the press release calling this the 9th title in the mainline series? What about 0 and Code:Veronica? RE9 is the 11th mainline entry, or at least the 10th numbered entry...

Master bait and switch from Capcom made the announcement much better. RE is my Top 3 game franchises and since I started the series with RE2 remake it is no small feat. I am so curious to see post-nuke Raccoon City and I am sure there will be familiar heroes along the way.

@Fyz306903 Yea but from what I've heard it doesn't feel as good as the actual 3rd person games because it's adapted from 1st person. Also Ethan is the worst protagonist he can suck it 🤣

@Nem Same. Can't stand 1st person games. I tolerated Cyberpunk, but the whole time I played it, I was wishing it was 3rd person. Its the only reason I exclusively used bikes because its the only time you get to see your character.

Awesome. I love RE 7 and 8 (both really got the franchise back on track) and hyped to see what happens with 9. Just a small teaser but looks like this might be even more proper horror. Can't wait to learn more.

@Blacksmith1985 They won't; Capcom release dates are usually solid. RE games rarely, if ever, slip. It will come Feb.

I don’t think Alyssa will be the main protagonist, her design seemed less detailed compared to the main characters like Leon or Claire in previous games. DuskGolem is saying Leon is the main protagonist in Requiem and well there has been talk a year ago of the game being in a play test phase involving playing as Leon and Jill in two separate areas of the world. Why would they bring back Jill for Death Island only to leave her out in this when RE8 basically lead and hinted to the team taking on a now corrupted BSAA? There’s clearly going to be storyline involving Chris to and how the BSAA was now using bio soldiers otherwise we’re going to have one very fragile plot to work from. Claire and Rebecca not being involved would be very disappointing . The upcoming trailers are exciting me

Will wait for VR support, my money is on it happening....fingers and toes crossed.
