The official reveal of Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5 attracted millions of views across Sony’s social media accounts.

Between the likes of YouTube and X (or Twitter), engagement has been off the charts as prospective players have welcomed Xbox mascot Master Chief to Sony’s machine.

On the official PlayStation YouTube account, The Silent Cartographer trailer has attracted 837k views at the time of writing, while the Halo Studios roundtable sits at 534k views.

By comparison, the same trailers have 71k views and 70k views respectively on the official Xbox YouTube channel, although a longer gameplay video – not uploaded by Sony – has 232k views.

PlayStation’s YouTube channel has more than three times as many subscribers as Xbox’s, so it does have an advantage in that sense.

And to be fair, the official Halo YouTube channel attracted 571k views for the trailer and 431k views for the roundtable. The aforementioned gameplay video topped 1.2 million views.

But it’s on X (or Twitter) where Halo’s reveal for PS5 went truly viral.

Sony’s message – declaring “Master Chief comes to PlayStation” – attracted over 12.4 million views. Comparable tweets from the Xbox and Halo accounts managed 483k views and 9.2 million views respectively.

So, it’s clear this reveal made a big splash among PS5 fans.

Obviously, some of this stems from the novelty of seeing Microsoft’s flagship franchise on a PlayStation format, but we’d expect Halo: Campaign Evolved to be a big seller when it releases on Sony’s system next year.
