@Fighting_Game_Loser I would second what @Flurpsel said. The story of AW Remastered is good and the expanded lore from the pages / TVs / QR codes is brilliant and really adds to the story.
The gameplay however is dated, repetative and frustrating so its probably worth sticking it on story mode and blasting through it.
Ico, SotC and The Last Guardian are all niche masterpieces that everyone should try. I can't wait to see Project Robot ends up being like as i fully expect it be great also.
Playing SotC on my old 3D TV was one hell of an experience. I appreciate it was a fad technology but a few games really took advantage of it. The other standout game for it was Wipeout where it just added so much to the experience.
PT was probably the scariest game I have ever played. It was just walking down a corridor with stuff happening and jump scares thrown in, but my god the atmosphere and tension was next level. If he can keep that up for a few hours then this should be really good for any horror fans.
@Ricksta There have been a few nods to egypt in both games in the way or little collectables etc. I think the temple showed multiple other religous beliefs and made out that Tyr had essentially travelled the world meeting all the different gods.
Tyr also wields a Khopesh in the dlc when you fight him
Not for me but the game did exceptionally well on PC for a game made by a very very small team. Had a lot of friends who played it and loved the theme and style of the game. Its the sort of success story we need to see more of in the industry.
I downloaded Indika yesterday and played through that and it entertained me, but my god its just weird. For most of the game I was very much just questioning what the hell was going on in the world and how much of it was real or not.
Did a bit more Walkabout Mini Golf VR because its brilliant, picked up the Wallace & Gromit course this weekend to add the collection. I dread to think how much I have spent buying courses for that game.
Also downloaded and started the Early Access for Frosthaven on steam to give that a play. Its the sequel to Gloomhaven and is mostly the same but the gameplay has a few tweaks here and there to improve it. The characters also have more depth from the get go with personal quests linked to their play style to unlock additional perks. The biggest change is to the city where you now collect resources as part of your loot which is used to build the city up unlocking new stuff as you go. The Potions are also handled in a new way where you loot herbs and mix them at the alchemist to discover new potions.
Whats with those rubbish small cans. The bigger glass shaped cans look so much better and is such a nice like marketting touch when you see it on a shelf.
One thing I do find interesting reading the comments is how many people still dislike the look of the PS5. I genuinely think its probably the best looking machine they have ever made and am glad that they went with white and black to make it pop. Do people genuinely just want another boring black box next time?
The detachable drive makes sense and is a clever way to have one SKU to perform as two. Ideally they would make it the same drive as the PS5 so users with drives can simply uplift their current device and have it work with the new console. I am not sure how viable that is, but if it is possible them it would be good for the consumer.
As others have said the added bonus of a part being easily replaceable if it fails is also a nice benefit.
@BecauseBecause I enjoyed Atlantis, but its definately less of a SG purist show. Its a bit like DS9 in that if includes the ensemble base cast more and has more soap opera stuff going on.
@Awakened_Link I don't get it either, lenght is good but only if it doesn't come at the cost of bloat. Dragon Age: The Veilguard was a long game but I found it never outstayed its welcome. On the flip side you have games like Horizon: Forbidden West which felt like it 80% bloat
I was intrigues with this from the very first showing as it looked to have a really unique visual style. Glad to see it reviewing well also meaning it should be one to keep an eye on.
I don't think any of the games are really scary as such but each have their own moments that can make you jump or creep you out just depending on what you dislike. For me its anything with Spiders or Spiderlike things as I hate them. I can get used to them but the spidery face hugger things from RE4 VR did make me jump a few times.
Bought it a while back and started playing but just fell off it pretty early on around Pilgrims Perch. I will give it another go at some point but the two realm lamp mechanic really put me off. I also felt the stat progression just felt off. I went up a fair amount and it just seemed to have little to no impact compared to normal souls titles.
The Bioshock series was very good overall but I worry that the Magic came from Levine and without him it would be a hollow shell. Its more of an issue because Infinite's DLC wrapped up the whole story into one loop so they would need to come up with something completely new.
@BAMozzy Not sure thats stil true now. It was originally more popular on Battlenet because you couldn't even buy the game on Steam. Since its reintroduction however I have seen laces saying Steam has taken the lead for newer games. Battlenet still has a following but I don't think its the main place anymore.
@AhmadSumadi yeah I made it to the end with one dead, saved my girl Harding because she was the love interest which meant one warrior at the end which certainly made it interesting when I had no taunt for the final battle as I needed Taash to guard our rear
I might pay again one day but it will be a while of as it's a big game
Finally got around to finishing Dragon Age: The Veilguard which was brilliant. When they showed the original trailer that was made to look like a Hollywood heist movie I really had my doubts. However after playing it fully I would say it's probably my favourite game one the franchise. The gameplay is fun and story is high stakes with choices that matter, also the companions are all interesting with good storylines of their own. Would definitely recommend it to anyone on the fence about giving it a try.
@EK42 If its a case of once verified your ID is deleted and never stored, then thats ok.
The big issue with that is who actually governs the companies who gather the data and ensures that they follow the rules. The certifications for a lot of these compliance schemes are often self certified and exist as a box checking excercise in the hope that companies follow the rules.
In reality they are under no obligation to follow the rules and its only when something goes wrong that you find that out. Even then you only hear if they are a big enough company for any data breach to hit the headlines. To make that worse you don't know if its your data that was stolen, just that it might be.
@TruestoryYep Its up there with the fact that you can legally move out at 16 and your parents can't stop you, but you are not an adult and your parents are still responsible for you.
The age check should be done only at the point of purchase as anything beyond that is up to the parents.
That said none of this affects me as im 43 and don't have kids, however I won't be giving any of my details to a random company. This will just promote the use of VPN's even further. I wouldn't be surprised if telecoms companies start providing their own VPN services at this rate, especially given that Proton have seen a 1800% increase since the new laws kicked in.
Its like piracy where people who don't really understand the issues are trying to stop younger, smarter people who can figure out workarounds pretty easily.
I recall this game as being one of the most boring games I have ever experienced. The concept of the game was alright but the end result was pretty poor and bloated to hell with the ridiculous amount of side quests it has.
They would have to really rework the game to have any appeal for taking another look at it.
@B0udoir I really like the HD 2D style for the graphics, I just think the gameplay played second fiddle to the visual style. A game can look great but if the gameplay get stale after 20h then you really probably shouldn't make it a 80h game.
I played the first one but found it got really boring towards the end of the game as the gameplay got very stale. The concept of enemies being staggered if you used specific weapon types and elements was novel, but Its just got annoying after a few hours. The end game content also did nothing for me as it essentially required you to make pretty specific builds to meet the damage requirements. I think I would have been okay with it if the game had been 20hrs long but for an 80hr game the gameplay did not hold up at all.
Its worth remembering that this data is from the USA and some of the titles on that list are likely reflective of that. It would be interesting to see the data looks when compared to other sales regions.
Should be an interesting one to follow as thematically they are virtually identical and they have clearly copied the style of the game without question. The Mount, the plating style and colours are all very blatant copies.
The gameplay however looks totally different with a generic combat style more akin to Monster Hunter or early Dark Souls animations. Unlike Horizon you are not shooting parts of the creatures to weaken them so they are just robot creatures, and Horizon don't own the rights to those.
I suppose it will depend on if the courts decide that the visual similarities are enough to meet the bar.
Looks like it has potential but for me it will depend on how the block / parry system works in combat as it looks very parry heavy. If its like Sekiro where you constantly have to tap the button then I would be out straight away as I couldn't stand that mechanic. Its the reason why Sekiro will likely always be the worst FS game in my eyes.
@somnambulance I have been a getting spammed with ads for K-Pop on Netflix after most shows. Its sounds terrible, but the more the advert plays the more tempted I am to give in and just watch the damn thing 😂
I can't help but think this will be terrible when its finally released, but hopefully they prove me wrong. Not sure who they could get for Ganon and have him still looking suitable.
Final Fantasy 16... Oh my god why change anything, we only want Turn Based
Ghost of Yotei.... oh my god why no changes, this is just DLC.
Pure gamer mentality 😂
Honestly the game looks great and any DLC comments are frankly stupid. By that logic most sequels are dlc as they stick to core mechanics and style and introduce a few elements only. The weapon choices are a big improvement, Wolfpack screen is beautifully done, card choices are a nice touch.
Kurisawa mode will once again be a hit and I think its a really nice detail that helps Ghost stand out in its genre. The Low fi mode is not my thing at all but again its nice inclusion for those who want it.
Overall I bet its going to score well and could be in the running for GOTY. I don't think it would win but I could see Sony at least getting it in as a nomination again.
@SuperSilverback The film is heavily rumoured to have been cancelled or a least pushed so far back that nothing is being done on it any more. Its been removed from the MCU schedule and they have addressed the large plot thread from The Eternals recently so its all pretty much tied up.
Also the Snipes joke about still being the one and only in Deadpool & Wolverine all but confirms its well and truly dead for now.
Really nice addition to the game as an option for a replay, obviously for the proper experience the best way will always as was intended, but this is a nice addition.
Its a lot like books where I will often read them in release order and years later will mix it up and re-read in chronological order to see how thing change.
They should add in the option to turn off skins for people who have no interest in looking at the current moneygrab. That would be the easy way to allow people to play the game how it was originally intended, or as a clown car novelty experience. Obviously they wouldn't want that as it would limit potential income.
All that aside B&B are surely not even that big a draw in 2025.
Already play it on PC and it does some things better than previous title, but others it does terribly. I will say not including the DLC is stupid as it hard caps how much of the game you can complete., and as such I am not sure if it is worth playing.
PROS
Huge maps, plenty of dungeons and things to finds
The smash, loot, repeat grind is as satisfying as ever
Large talent trees & paradigm tree with a better system than D3
CONS
Huge maps, each area wears its theme out before you finish it.
Some classes have real issues with drop chances
Lots of talents, but alot are useless in their current states
The levelling curve is really bad, and torment difficulty only unlocks after finishing the story (if you do side quests then the later half of the games is laughably easy)
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Im basing it on general supply and demand from working in the wholesale enviroment. Companies very rarely want to undercut their own customers as it often has negative results.
If you could buy every game £20 cheaper on launch day then physical would be utterly crippled. Only hardcore collectors would buy it, and if not one buys it then no one will bother selling it. Suddenly your product is not sitting on the shelves and that lack of marketting is a huge loss.
Its the same problem Xbox are having with the Series consoles in Europe. They have no visibility and its hurting their brand awareness in a pretty big way, hence why 80% of dutch players are PS.
@Northern_munkey But there is hosting, infastructure, marketting, and platform development costs. These things also have costs which are never factored in when discussing online vs physical, just no disc = cheaper. Digital probably is a bit cheaper, but it still has its own costs.
All that aside however its pretty much irrelevant because digital stores usually operate at the msrp to protect physical trade. If digital games where all suddenly £20 cheaper it would decimate the already shrinking highstreet game shops.
@Anya-chan DS2, Expedition 33 are likely nailed on contenders.
I think Yotai will land well and should be in for consideration.
Blue Prince could make the cut as a critical success indy darling.
Indiana Jones is the other possibility at the moment but I think launching right after the 2024 cut off is always risky.
