You know the score by now: whenever PS5 stock is available in the UK, sales of the console's games skyrocket. And last week was no different as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales increased sales by 223 per cent to land in second place while Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart climbed into fourth following a 630 per cent boost in purchases of boxed copies. Then there's Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, which reached sixth place after sales increased by 233 per cent.
However, the only new entry last week was Deathloop and it debuted in the top spot. While the time looping title has sold the least amount of copies in its first week when compared to previous games from Arkane Studios, selling slightly less than PREY, it's worth noting the PS5 has still spent less than a year on the market. Therefore, there aren't quite as many potential purchasers out there right now. Of course, the UK sales charts also only track boxed copies, and digital purchases are likely to be much stronger.
Other noteworthy PS5, PS4 games include Tales of Arise, which after taking second place in its first week of availability, drops to 14th. The 70 per cent sales decrease is normal for new releases, however. NBA 2K22 slips from third to 10th.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 18th September 2021
- Deathloop
- Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Minecraft (Switch)
- Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- WarioWare: Get It Together!
- F1 2021
- NBA 2K22

I feel like these top 10 charts do little to help us tell which games are actually selling well. We need to focus on the raw sales numbers, which are not easy to get unfortunately. May need to work on that.
Kena won’t even be in these charts for a couple of months yet as it doesn’t include digital. Since digital is such a huge chunk of sales these days; these charts don’t tell us much unfortunately.
Ghost of tushima, ratchet and clank and spiderman doing sony proud. A bit sad to not see tales of Arise there's though as its such a good good game, my game of the year so far
Oh wow, this is SO surprising.
Didn't expect less from a Sony exclusive.
Deathloop might have sold less first week copies but it did hit the top spot only on a console that's in it's first year. Can't complain.
Obviously been another drip of PS5s getting through to actual customers?
First time in a few weeks since it hasn't all been about the Switch?
low sales because of high price point. People not willing to pay, me included.
Haven't and will not buy a £70+ game. PS1 games started out at £49.99 and that was mental in 96 so the games dropped to around £35.
Cyberpunk had all that furore and demands for refunds and CDPR still cleared into profit at blinding pace.
Will not buy until a reasonable price, and that might mean taking money away from Devs, CEX, which in the end is Sony's fault.
Yes it’s true. New PS5 stock drives games sales spikes. I feel the game that’s really going to break the internet is GT7 though. Better try get a PS5 before because that’s going to be the real sales driving game 😅
Disclosing digital sales numbers of games should be required by law.
Why? Because I'm curious, of course.
@Slippship Deathloop’s cheaper. It’s £60 which is on par with PS4 games.
@nessisonett £60 is still OTT, way too high, i'm not a skinflint, i just am not prepared to give that much money.
And I fear I am not the only one. Theft makes you feel sad, and that's all I feel when I have paid for something I know would be 20 quid in three months elsewhere.
And yes, i am originally from Yorkshire.
PlayStation exclusive game sales blew up this past week...
Wow what a heck of a week for PlayStation. Let's see if Death Stranding Director"s Cut can get in there when it comes out soon as well.
Glad to see Deathloop do so well. Even better to see Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank, and Ghost of Tsushima back in the top ten!
Who pays £60-70 for games 😂 I paid £43 for Deathloop, finished it over the weekend and sold it to CEX for £42. I dread when gaming becomes digital only!
@Slippship Adjusted for inflation £35 then is £67 now
@Smash41 You could not be more right. I've never paid full price for a game and people still continue to argue about it. Always a choice to buy or wait.
@Slippship Well hey I’m Glaswegian so yep, I buy most of my games on sale 😂
@Slippship Only dumb people go on about price so much. Guess morons can't use Google
@Smash41 Ther are alot of morons ,thay can't use Google
@Slippship You're a cheap skate
@elliottwilsonnn i was on £15k then and as i said can well afford it, but I choose not to. I'd also like to see your workings as I think it should be more in the £100 range.
I shall be moving to PC after 25 years of playstation.
@marty8370 Your language places you in the early teens trying to look cool when mum and dad do all the purchasing. Cheap skates don't pay for 2 kids in Uni, but thank you for being so pleasant.
And your diction needs some attention.
@Slippship nobody wants to hear your constant complaining about the price of games. They’re expensive. Get over it.
@elliottwilsonnn And it use to be in the 90s you'd pay around 4 times your salary to buy a house, now it's more like 12 times.

I've always hated the straight inflation comparison for entertainment prices. It does not take in to account how spending power has drastically changed since the 90s.
@Slippship People are not willing to spend money on full price games? Yet, Deathloop is number 1? Do you really not see the illogic in your own sentence?
You and the other seven people on Twitter complaining about the new price model won't affect anything.
Just wait for price drops and buy when you can afford em. Stop being silly, claiming people wouldn't buy games when they're obviously do.
@Slippship https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation/inflation-calculator
That's fair enough, but for the sake of comparison your point is a little less potent when adjusted
@Richnj No obviously there are many factors but without taking into account inflation at all, it seems like prices of games have doubled when they haven't. Considering budgets now compared to back in the day it's surprising it isn't more than 70
@JAMes-BroWWWn after selling less than prey, which was bought by me and seven other people...
I have very little sympathy in regards to game budgets. It's mostly a self inflicted injury. That's the price of going from having 9 guys make Goldeneye, to having hundreds make God of War.
Super glad for Arkane! I won't be buying it at full price cause I very rarely do (and I still have Prey to play), but I'm happy it's a success!
Mario Kart 8 deluxe is for Nintendo what GTA V is for other consoles.
Nice to see Deathloop doing well!
I know the physical charts, especially UK, don't mean much these days, but I can only assume it did just as well digitally.
It also topped the Steam charts for PC, so great to see Arkane getting recognition.
@Slippship its selling on one console that's less than a year old. Plus Sony themselves have said 71% of their game sales are now digital so who knows how many it's really sold.
@Serialsid that's fair enough. I have decided commenting is not worth my time as no matter what you put nowadays is wrong. I have a belief, and I'm allowed it. I wasn't spitting venom like most of the replies I have had. Ignore.me.
@JAMes-BroWWWn Agree.... Honestly, users like Slippship are annoying as hell, especially when they start giving a bunch of BS statements like that. They seem to live in LaLaLand and refuse to accept reality (people still actual buys games at full prince, be it 60 or 70) even if it is sitting right in front of them.
Here is the reality, for a console that is still hard to find, these games are actually selling pretty well at full- price, be it physically or digitally. You just need to take a look at the worldwide monthly charts (digital and physical) posted to the public every month to see that. No BS....
@Smash41 having come from a PC background and not wanting to have to swap and store discs, I sold all my hard copy games in 2016 IIRC.
As you say, if you have the time to be able to finish a game shortly after launch, and are smart, you can practically game for free.
Alas that was not always an option due to my limited playtime (got Horizon ZD at launch and only finished it last summer!!!) so I mostly didn't get that benefit.
Still, since I went digital, I've become far more discerning over my purchases. I used to buy everything scoring 7 or higher in genres I enjoy.
From buying four games a month, I'm down to buying two or three games a year. Plus I play some on Gamepass.
I think they lose money through their practise of charging more for digital titles, rather than a lower price nearer to PC pricing.
They don't just need to reflect the lower production costs, but also that my digital copy can't be resold and poach a new sell from them. They should actively encourage people to buy digital to prevent such resale losses!
