Available to download right now on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.31 isn't the game's most significant update, but it is yet another step forward. The patch notes mention further memory optimisation on PlayStation consoles, which should help with technical performance. Again.
Indeed, Cyberpunk 2077 released around ten months ago, and CD Projekt Red is still trying to get it running properly on consoles. To be fair, the game's in a lot better shape than it was at launch — but it makes us wonder how long this saga will continue.
Anyway, you can find the full patch notes below.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.31 PS5, PS4 Patch Notes

- Fixed an issue where after upgrading an item with a quest tag, the base version of said item wasn't removed from the inventory.
- Fixed an issue where weapon reload speed perks slowed down reload time.
- Corrected the height of the charged jump.
- Adjusted enemies' stealth detection speed dependent on game difficulty.
- V will no longer get stuck in falling animation when crashing a motorbike while also having "The Rock" perk.
Quests & Open World
Disasterpiece
- Fixed an issue where Judy didn't spawn in her van on Jig-Jig Street.
These Boots Are Made for Walkin'
- Fixed an issue where Thorton Galena "Rattler" didn't spawn in the quest area.
- Thorton Galena "Rattler" will no longer become invulnerable after the quest is completed.
Beat on the Brat
- Fixed an issue where the quest could reactivate with the objective "Go to the final fight" on saves made on game version 1.22.
With a Little Help from My Friends
- Fixed an issue where the objective "Wait for the nomads" could persist on the screen long after player's arrival at the junction.
- Fixed an issue where it wasn't possible to interact with the nomads to discuss the plan.
The Nomad
- Fixed an issue where player's car could get stuck between a blockade and a guardrail, preventing them from returning to the car and blocking progress.

- Returned missing descriptions for Backpacker, Resist!, Osmosis and Footloose clothing mods.
Miscellaneous
- Fixed an issue where players couldn't claim in-game Registration Rewards due to the error: "A network error has occurred. Please try again later".
Console-specific
- [PlayStation] GPU memory optimization.

My dad actually works at CD Projekt Red, he says the next update after this will be a free story expansion called Cyberpunk 2077: Brotherly Love. Can’t wait.
it’s good to see them working and fixing this game, but its all so sad too..
How much longer can they keep this up? At what point do they say, “we need to accept that this was rushed, and let’s make our next game.”
I've still yet to purchase this as I own a base PS4 and am understandably put off by the horror stories I've read, however interestingly I've heard from 2 separate people now that they've played it through and encountered very little issues. Just wondered if anyone else can back this up as I do really want to play this
So disappointing that they can't even be bothered to make the PS5 version on par with the Series X
I want to play the game i do but Im at the point where im just gonna wait for the native ps5 version. Its been on my shelf pretty much since launch but I dont want anything to taint the experience. Im happy they are updating but these updates seem small considering the time theyve had
The joke before it eventually launched after many delays was "it's called 2077 because that's when it'll come out." Now I feel like it's because that's when they'll have finished patching it. It almost feels like a GAAS at this point. I think I read more about its updates than I do for, say, that Avengers game.
@QualityGeezer It's not what you want to hear, but I think at this point it just comes down to luck. I've read loads of reports about the PS4 version still being a relative mess, and it still has a few potentially game-breaking bugs knocking about.
But on the other hand, I've seen people say they played through it recently and it was fine, aside from typical open world bugs.
It's definitely better than it was — at least the crashing issues (mostly) got fixed — but it's still not perfect. Of course, the question now is whether it will ever be "perfect".
I think my advice to anyone waiting on Cyberpunk 2077 is to just wait for the PS5 version and see how it goes (assuming you have a PS5!). It surely can't be any worse than the PS4 version.
I will continue to wait for the PS5 version when the game is fixed fully. I just don't feel comfortable going into it now given the state the game is still in even yet. They're making progress but still a long way to go it seems.
do they have a PS5 version release date?
@ShogunRok yeah thanks. I was holding off until the 5 version was released but unfortunately I think it will probably be 2077 before I get a 5 down my way lol.
My sister has been fortunate and experienced only minor frame rate issues which I can handle but like you said it's such a mixed bag as far as people's experiences are concerned that after waiting nearly a year may as well wait a bit longer and hopefully experience it on a 5
Been playing this on PS5 and having a blast. Any and all updates are welcome!
Yawn, where’s the Ps5 version?
@Broosh What's it like driving around in a vehicle now? before it was just diabolical to say the least, but funny.
I have a PS4 and got this game on release date, i had a lot of fun with it, great story and control. Epic way to customize your character. It crashed, but so do a lot of other games, just randomly. If you're on the fence, but love RPG shooters, you will love this one, the price is right.
@BrettAwesome It's still BC on both consoles. They have yet to release a next gen version of the game
@BrettAwesome That's cause they didn't release a PS5 or Series X version yet
Got the game with steelbook for a bargain price. Been sitting on my shelf, I will
Wait for the ps5 upgrade. No point in playing a less broken game when the “better” version will arrive sooner or later.
@Just_2_milky - They should keep it up until it's actually the finished article. Witcher 3 was far from this mess and that got patched for years after release.
If a tiny team like Hello Games can turn NMS around then CDPR have no excuses to not (eventually) deliver on their game.
Finished it over the weekend. Was ok. Might play it again when the native PS5 version is out but we'll see.
@BrettAwesome
Not defending them but isn't that more sonys fault than red, with how it upgrades / boosts ps4 games.
The biggest problem with this game is not the bugs but all the features they said would be in the game that aren't , they really would need to redo the entire game too add what they said
@playthedangame what did you play it on? And how was your experience with crashes, bugs etc
@darklaw was it on a base ps4 and what was your experience with crashes, bugs etc?
@BrettAwesome just running in PS4 backwards compatibility mode where the full power of the Ps5 isn’t available.
@QualityGeezer
It is a base ps4, and while there are bugs, it is totally playable.
“Removed hair and/or eyebrows in cases where they were set to "off" in earlier game versions”.
I’m trying to think of a witty comment, but this particular fix is amusing enough on its own.
@darklaw cheers mate, what was the worse or most persistant problem you found?
@QualityGeezer I played through it on a day one PS4. It crashed occasionally, probably no more than a five or six times so not that onerous. It did tend to get quite choppy during busy fights, bad but not unplayable. There was also the odd graphical glitch and one or two quest errors but overall it was ok.
I'm now awaiting the PS5 version before I play through again.
@Inoccentbystande cheers for the info mate, I live in a very rural area so very little chance to get a 5 for a while so may just jump in as I want to play it
Sounds like the game might be out of beta within the next couple years, exciting stuff.
@Danloaded I bought it day one and felt like such a sucker for it. Also still waiting for the PS5 version to play it. Most likely 2022 unfortunately.
@QualityGeezer
It just randomly crashed, and i had to restart the game. It was totally playable, had some good glitches too. You get a painting worth a ton of money. It never leaves your inventory if you dont finish the mission and you can constantly sell it to make money.
@darklaw damn that is a good glitch lol
@ShogunRok I know it's a bit off topic but relates too the same issue. I've held off buying games such as this AC and the new resi as I don't have a 5 and am worried about the performance on what is now old gen as I appreciate these games were made with the 5 in mind. My question is are these games still worth playing on a base ps4 or not
@QualityGeezer I'm playing on a base ps4, and can say that the game mostly works fine. There are occasionally jitters, where something has to quite loaded in right, a few texture pops, etc. But no game breaking bugs, since the patches started rolling out. Felt the game was largely enjoyable thus far, but loading times can be a pain (on harder difficulty settings especially, where it seems dying isn't uncommon!)
@J2theEzzo thanks for the info mate
@QualityGeezer There's no doubt games like ACV run better on PS5, but it really all comes down to how eager you are to play them. ACV has a free PS5 upgrade, for example, so you don't really lose anything by buying it for PS4. Although you could argue you're missing out on the best way to experience the game for the first time.
It's a tricky one — it always comes down to whether you can wait or not. I think if you're desperate to play a particular game, just go for it — time is always the most valuable commodity. If you can afford to wait and you have other games to enjoy, then there's no harm in waiting!
@ShogunRok thank you for your answer mate.
I'm not overly bothered by it's better here or there have enough of my PC mate telling me that, I'm just happy to enjoy a game for instance mass effect legendary edition was perfectly fine on my PS4 and took nothing away from my enjoyment of it.
I'm not bothered by it's better on a 5 only interested in can I enjoy it on a 4
@BrettAwesome what are the differences between them?
@RubyCarbuncle I have yet to experience major glitches when driving, surprisingly. It still feels pretty stiff for sure, but nothing game breaking yet.
@Broosh Ahh right. Thanks for the info.
It's kind of sad that this game supposed to bring gaming to the next level, but in the end it only become a joke. Only because some top levels executive can't wait for their bonus.
I think witcher 4 is cdp last chance to show gamers they're still a good studio.
I've not played any game since that has better characters, writing, atmosphere and soundtrack than Cyberpunk 2077.
@BleedingDreamer I play it on PS5 too nowadays, before that i was on PS4 Pro. Biggest noticeable difference is the higher resolution and the smooth 60fps.
@suikoden
Not entirely. The One X version has a mode that runs even better, and with higher res on Series X, and uses a different setting than any other console version, which has noticably more npc's and vehicles. I bet it would be super simple to implement the same features on PS5.
@Just_2_milky i am sure they are working on the witcher 4 as we speak, but CDPR have to fix this mess or people won't buy their next game. I'll be amazed if people rush out to preorder their next game regardless. It's going to be a steep mountain for them to climb
@QualityGeezer 👍
Its a pity how unfinished the game was released i really are going to wait on the PS5 release after the reviews ofcourse. These developers are no longer on the trusted list with me.
@djape Define "fixing".
@Danloaded I'm also waiting for the native PS5 release as I don't want to play a "PS4 pro optimized" version of the game. I want a genuine native PS5 release that offers the usual 4K 60fps, controller haptics and lightning fast load times. I have buddies who've played it on PS4 pro that say it's decent and also a friend if mine has an Xbox one x and says it runs decent. I don't want decent I want good. Until then, I wait.
@arsmolinarc well fixing, trying to make game run better and more optimized. because we all know that even after almost a year after release, game is buggy as hell
@ApostateMage Well you where singing it's praises constantly way way wayyy before it released so not really surprised by your comments.
it was going to be your game of the decade regardless of what the actual game was like 🤷
@QualityGeezer I played on PS5. It was pretty smooth overall, just a few daft minor glitches. Not sure what it would be like on last gen however.
@QualityGeezer I dived back into the game last week on the ps5 to still find bugs that ruin the experience. Had a boss fight with some ninja that after 5 mins he got stuck in the corner of the room leaving me with an easy kill. One of my guns was failing to aim with L2 but would still fire. One of the characters I rescued from a mission even with a gun in his hand failed to even use his gun on any enemies when trying to fight our way out. The traffic and pedestrians or still non existent. I would say carry on waiting on this game till it’s in better shape. Hiding under all these bugs somewhere is a good game. Shame really.
Decided to fire it up again recently after not having played it for about six months, first thing that happened was my car exploding lol
Literally 2 days ago I was looking at how the 1.3 patch runs on a pro and I realised (unless you only walk through the whole city) it is a complete Ghost Town. I figured until a pro specific patch hits that will fix that I'm not interested. Will this GPU optimisation help?
@BrettAwesome Why hasn't this extra memory specific been done on a pro?
These memory optimisations seem to just be removing more cars from the road whilst you drive around. Or more people from the streets when running.
I really want to hear about whats happing with the native ps5 version now. I think they've done all they can to optimise it for last gen.
@QualityGeezer played it on all playstation machines...
PS4 - textures take awhile to load in at times so you'll see more characters looking 'smudged' ect. Muddy textures. Some framerate issues. 30fps.
PS4pro - looks noticeably sharper/higher resolution. Textures less muddy. More stable framerate. 30fps.
PS5 - looks the same as the pro but is a solid 60fps.
Bugs are luck of the draw. You can go a playthrough without seeing one and then the next time you'll encounter a few. Had a few hard crashes during my playthrough...maybe 5...where I had to start it up again. Auto save is generous though. And outside of combat you can quicksave.
All versions are playable.
@Juanalf Not necessarily. I've been hugely disappointed by games I've been really looking forward to before (Mass Effect 3) but I just absolutely loved Cyberpunk 2077. I'd be lying if I said that the crashes, resolution and scaled back npc's weren't disappointing but honestly, not once did those stop me from enjoying my time in Night City.
It's a shame that so many focus on the negatives of the game over the positives.
I played on PC and beat the game last week - fully populated, raytracing, and very few minor graphical glitches. Its bloated, unrefined, and doesn't deliver on all of its promises, but still a great game overall.
I'm waiting for the PS5 version. At this point why not.
Meh. I'll wait for the remastered version on PS6 😂
I picked it up about the time the 1.3 patch came out, when it was on sale for $20 for a day (and I had a $10 off code, so it was half that...and I got it used, because if any game deserves to be bought used it's this one, so it was really $7).
I've installed it and played the very early opening - nothing to brag about, but not awful. I'm waiting for the PS5 version before I dive in.
@RiceC03
I'd rather your dad put out a next gen upgrade before dlc tbh.
@RobN same here. I started a character but also am waiting for ps5 upgrade.
@TimeDelayedGamer
You will never get a ps6 😆
