Resident Evil Requiem Is at The Game Awards with a 'New Look'

Hopefully we get a 4 - 5 minute video on the game play, but then again they could save that for RE show case in January, either way I can't for the game, already have the steel book on preorder.

I hope they don't reveal too much, this is one game I think I'll actively avoid any potential spoilers for.

@Mintie Nah I think she looks the same every time we have seen her.

I'm more interested in this one than I was in 7 or 8. Both strayed way too far from horror and Ethan Winters was a wet blanket.

This one seems to refocus on the horror element of the franchise.

@DennisReynolds I would say that once you leave the Baker estate the game takes a massive dip in quality (which includes the horror aspect)

@DennisReynolds In my opinion Rob Zombie style torture porn is very far from horror. I know some people found it scary, I just found it gross without the fear factor.

I really don't need anything from this. I am already sold like yesterday. So, I will just skip the trailer while I was watching the show next day.

Day 1 purchase, capcom have been on fire with resident evil and the only third party developer to work on psvr2 patches for free.

@Pat_trick That stuff still falls under the horror umbrella. (Pardon the pun.) Not to mention that both games have way more horror tropes than just "torture porn".

Im gonna live under a rock until the game release so i dont spoil anything more i already seen.

@slabula Fair enough, I guess it's not my kind of horror and not what RE horror originally was.

@Pat_trick That's true; it's changed a lot. I do like that they try different things in the series, kind of like an anthology. But I'm excited to see if they go back to their roots too.

@Pat_trick I mean it was more Texas Chainsaw then anything else.

@slabula Oh, it's totally fair and I do see why people enjoy it. On a personal level, it's far from the more subtle horror I enjoy, but it did put the series back in the spotlight.

@DennisReynolds True. Ironically Rob Zombie directed a movie that is very much inspired by it. Not to my taste, but I know this type of horror definitely has its crowd.

Rob Zombies Halloween (the first one) is awesome btw, easily the best one in the series.

@Pat_trick eh?? It was arguably 4, 5 and 6 that took it away from horror and closer to just being an action game. 7 was a great return to horror, albeit different from earlier Resident Evil games

@Oram77 yeah the latter parts of 7 aren't great, especially as the Baker house is so good, though its almost a common theme for the latter parts of a Resident Evil game to be its weakest

@carlos82 Oh, don't get me wrong, 5 and 6 definitely were action schlock B movie inspired games. But to me 7 and 8 didn't even feel like RE games. I do think they're good games too, but very removed from what RE is. Very little charm and personality with the characters (a few villains aside).

RE 9 to me looks more like RE than 7 and 8 did.

@Pat_trick that's fair and yeah Requiem almost seems like it'll be a homecoming of sorts for the series
