I still have my PS3 copies of both games. It would be cool if they both become available in modern platforms. I would love a more accessible version but I would also like for the Vita game to be ported.
@KeAfan7 Ryza 3 was an emotional ending to the series. However, it is my least favourite game if the trilogy. The open world does not feel that good in my opinion. Still, I highly recommend the game.
@DennisReynolds To be honest I did not know that. It doesn't sound that enticing though, hiding demos behind a paywall.
@PuppetMaster @DonJorginho Yeah, you are right. I tend to remember the bad cases like Anthem etc.
Who am I to judge but offering a trial may look like that the game is not selling that well.
That said, unless I am terribly mistaken, this game along with Demon Souls are the only PS5 exclusives. I liked DS1 but I am not in a hurry to get the second part. Seemed like the story was more or less over when I finished the first game.
Hopefully, I can add RE2 and 3 in my PS4 for free since I have the old versions. However, the addition of Ryza 3 baffles me, especially since the game is delisted soon.
I have sinked a lot of time in the Vita port. Feels like a million years away... I wanted to get a Steam version for accessibility but the game is "temporary delisted" for years because it uses windows live for net play...
@LikelySatan I totally agree. Sonya looks off in MK9 but I am not sure I like how she looks in 10 or 11 either. In 9 she looks like a WWE player but in 10 and 11 she looks like a short Barbie knock off. Her design in MK1 was closer to the OG MK but she is not playable for some reason.
@Lanmanna @LikelySatan It is not that I have done an extensive research on it. When MK11 was released parts of the fanbase were not pleased with the de sexualisation of all female (and only female) characters and because they made some of them act dump (for lack of a better term). Then in those old Reddit and forum board posts you could find relevant quotes from people that worked in the game aka that the depiction of female characters in older games was not good and they wanted to appeal to a more general audience etc.
I don't know what sense does those stuff make since this is Mortal Kombat not realistic fighting simulator.
I still have on display the Wonder Woman vs Batman statue that was included in the collector edition of Injustice. The first issue of the Year 1 was also included in said collector's edition and I paid 89€ for it. I don't even want to think how much an edition like this would cost today.
The last games will most likely be Mythologies, Special Forces and Mortal Kombat Gold. Other versions will be added as DLC like the PS1 version of MK4, the N64 version of Trilogy, the Game Gear version of MK2 etc.
As much as I would like to have the PS2 games may be in the second volume if this sells well. I don't think so by the way since this company has not tackled the PS2, to my knowledge.
As for MK vs DC and MK9 the situation is not easy. There are various right issues (MK9 has since pong veen delisted) and apparently the developers do not like the depiction of women in those games thinking it outdated which is of course non sense.
I have already beaten Ryza in PS4, PS5, Steam, Switch etc., can't wait to play them again... The preorder page is not up yet. The previous DX versions were 40 euros each or 90 for the trilogy bundle.
I am feeling Trails fatigue. All this world building seems to go nowhere. Anyway, I bought Daybreak 2 in the previous sales and will start it in the weekend.
@DualWielding They confirmed that you can choose to play either 1st or 3rd and the game was developed with both into account. I still personally think that 1st person is scarier.
Even if the new Xbox is a PC it will have a Steam Deck interface, you want even know that it is a PC if you do not want to tinker it. And if you include all PC digital stores, Xbox Backwards Compatible program and community emulators the new Xbox could, in theory, play all games that have been released... ever. I am definitely interested. I know that in principle the Steam Deck does all of the above but a high end system with a console like OS is what I always wanted. Now that Square Enix has left PlayStation exclusivity and since all single player PS games will be on PC you could argue that this makes PS hardware a bit irrelevant. I personally, after I bought FF Rebirth the only other PS4 and 5 games I bought are occasionally retro games like Dino Crisis and Ridge Racer.
I personally cancelled all ps plus subscriptions when I realised that there is an actual limit to the number of saves you can have in the cloud storage!
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare In PS4 you can play the digital games in as much consoles as you can but you have to be online. You can set a console as primary for offline play. I have not tried this on PS5 since I only have one console.
As for the topic... It is not a big deal. I may go for the Steam version but I may want some extra collectables. Square did the same with the latest Life is Strange.
You forgot Bloodstained. I loved the original. I backed the PS4, Vita and Wii U copies and got the PS4, Switch and Steam copies! Since then I have the platinum trophy on PS4, all the achievements on PC, I 100%ed the awful Switch version and bought the game again on Xbox and got all the achievements again. Needless to say I loved the original and look forward to the sequel.
What? Also my favourite handheld ports? I mean what is next, the Master System versions? Anyway, I am really looking forward to the game. By the way it is not exclusive, I saw it also on Steam.
@Flaming_Kaiser The shipping was delayed multiple times actually. I was obviously aware of the import fees but the huge detail plus not having the latest update in the disk made the whole thing pointless.
Also, I don't really get the point to see the number of physical game sales. There are a lot of articles in this site that paint the picture that retail is much less than digital. Also, if you remove digital at all you remove all PC gamers and games in countries that do not have access to retail games. Digital accessibility literally created the indie game scene and ensures gaming preservation...
I have ordered from them once, it was a Castlevania or a Doom game for PS4 for 30$. Now if you added customs, shipping and all those taxes I ended up paying 70€. I also received the game 8 months later. And the game still had an update making the whole thing pointless.
I mentioned this before but I hope the Professor Layton games are unshackled by being only in Nintendo's archaic/bad hardware. I know that some android ports exist but Layton seems to be a Nintendo "second party" series.
I have beaten all main line games of YS (and Trails, except Daybreak 2) multiple times and stll I don't like that Adol does not speak. It seems to be a relic of an old era when mute characters were around for some reason. I always find it hard it to connect with mute characters. However, Adol always finds girlfriends without speaking at all so who am I to judge?
@Matroska Shouldn't the part where Cloud slaps Aerith be in Rebirth?
Anyway, those are not considered censorship, it is what it is from an ethical point, even though Yuffie's change does not really make much sense.
The point is in the FF7 Remake and Rebirth the main cast looks like they should and act like you thought they would. In Silent Hill 2 Maria acts like you thought but she does not look like you thought. This is some sort of modern censorship that I don't like.
@LikelySatan I was not talking about censoring games, although I think it is not as much of an issue as the fans may make it seem. I don't think Rebirth or Yumia were censored.
My point was redesigning the character to feel more modern while losing what make the character unique or interesting in the first place. A recent example was Maria from the remake of Silent Hill 2. I loved the game but it seems that they did not get the point of the character when they redesigned Maria.
@ChrisDeku Thank God Square Enix is a Japanese company. If it was American I am afraid to even think how would Kuja be re imagined.
More on topic, at this point they have stopped teasing us, they are simply trolling us! Come on, after the game was not announced at the Switch 2 reveal I had the impression that the game might have been cancelled...
The thing is the Doom The Dark Ages has some steep hardware requirements. It requires an RTX combatible graphics card with 8GB of video RAM. It is the first game that requires this. So, you cannot even start the game in a GTX card. Also the game playes horribly in Steam Deck. I have a mobile GPU, the 3050 RTX with 4GB video RAM and a Steam Deck. I simply cannot play the game in PC. I guess I may not be the only one. I would have bought the game in Steam if I could play it. By the way both Greenmangaming and Fanatical have a launch discount in the game.
Personally, I could get the game in PS5 but after I got the Platinum in Rebirth I, more or less, stopped using the console.
@ChrisDeku It was not that easy. Even with a VPN you still had to change the location you are within Steam account settings. And, I think, you can do this only twice a year.
@Neverwild You couldn't buy Helldivers 2 in countries with no psn support even if you used a psn account from another country, not even while using a VPN.
I guess it is finally time to buy the game! I see the Definitive Edition to go as low as 40€. Still, having so many characters that have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat and are not that mainstream as guests was not such a great idea. Still, I don't get why there is no Sonya, etc. Finally, I was not fan of the "art direction". Some characters, especially the female ones, were a bit off.
@YeoSprings I don't get you point. If I buy a used game disk and play a game this is irrelevant to the publisher, they gain no money even if eventually the game may reach some more people.
As for the topic the last physical games I have bought are the Final Fantasy games on PS5. I will most probably not buy any other retail game except FF and most new games I buy on the Steam Deck anyway.
That said I never understood the blank disk thing. I mean they can't even put a version there even though it may require a patch?
In the end of the day retail games either do not exist or are missing content. Digital is way better for game preservation in the long run since you can store all game files, including possible patches and DLC, that you won't be able to download if you use a disk if the servers close.
The Steam version had some issues but I didn't mind them that much since I mostly played single player but parts of the fanbase actually thought REVO as a downgrade from the vanilla PS4 version!
Very cool. I will surely get the Steam version but maybe not at launch. It depends on the price to be honest. I only played the demo in PS5 but I liked it.

@PuppetMaster That was not my point. My point was that the title says "PS5's New Virtua Fighter". While this is 99.99% sure it has not been announced yet. I am not that fan of "news" being based on probabilities.
