Ok I guess I am out of touch. I was sure that Ms. Marvel (especially after her unceremoniously death from Paul's father!) and Star Lord were never that popular to have a slot in a fighting game. As for Ms. Parker I have no idea who she is but she definitely reminds me of the Sentai version of Spider Man with the giant Megazord robot.
@nessisonett Sorry for being a bit off topic but I disagree. I really don't like this run. I know that Other is a bit more subjective but he did write Sins Past and One More Day stories that still haunt the fans.
As for the trailer it seems cool. When I initially saw the trailer I though MJ was flirting with the MCU version of Paul but I guess it is just Flash Thompson!
I haven't played the game yet but I didn't know that PS5 could do ultra wide, cool! That said according to the article stuff was cut due to "storage limitations" which makes no sense in this day and age.
There was this discussion that EU could force other digital stores on Sony/Microsoft/Apple devices.
To be honest one of the best things of playing in PC is that you can find good discounts even in preorders in some retailers. This is open ecosystem is one of the appealling points of Helix, if Microsoft doesn't mess it somehow.
In any case you can still find PSN cards in some digital retailers for some regions at a good discount.
I tried to order some of their PS4 Castlevania games. It took ages to ship, to the point where I almost forgot about them. I didn't order anything again since.
To be fair, nostalgia glasses aside, Code Veronica is not the greatest game in the series as far as the story goes. I mean the depiction of mental illness is as basic and cliche as it goes. And one of the characters goes to kiss Claire while she is asleep...
Anyway, to be honest the game doesn't seem that appealing to me. I got returnal in the previous discounts but I have not had the chance to play it yet.
I think the answer is that Helix seems to be something fresh, like an evolution of the Steam Deck concept, an "all in" device that can play say old Steam games, Xbox games, emulators in an since it is a PC you can stream media, watch movies but with the convenience of a console aka plug and play.
I am very interersted in Helix but I may not be able to afford it.
@get2sammyb Yes, except I don't have a "gaming PC" or a "new" TV. I have a laptop for work and the original Rog Ally that I use like you describe, basically I am now playing Resident Evil Requiem to my Ally connected to PC monitor. So, I was thinking of getting the Steam machine but since prices are increasing I my just wait and see the competition.
If this new console supports Steam, Xbox games and you can run emulators in it I am interested, provided that the pricing is not outragious. Still it is something fresh... I am curious to see how this goes.
Sony and Microsoft managed to persuade me that in the day of huge hardware and software costs exclusives are a relic of the past that need to go away and I agree actually. On the other hand Sony managed to make me move to Steam, especially after they lost the exclusivity in Final Fantasy. Since I got a Steam Deck they only games I got in PS5 were Final Fantasy 16 and 7 Rebirth and some digital PS1 classics. I played Spiderman 2 in Steam and to be honest the first game is much better. PC has the advantage of much cheaper digital games, emulator frontends and an open platform whether we talk about Steam OS or even Windows. Plus you do not pay for online gaming and you can actually preserve the game which is huge. Cons are that you do not have physical media but the existence of physical media is questionable today.
Cool collection! The Mega Drive/Game Gear etc. that was created by SEGA is owned by SEGA. The only obvious ommitions are the other Game Boy games, the SNES version of Marvel Super Heroes and the Mega Drive/Game Gear X-Men games but I think those were also licensed by SEGA.
@Oram77 To be honest I left Nintendo out because, personally, I have no nostalgia and I think their games are irrelevant. Don't get me wrong, I grew up with the Original Gameboy and I stll play it regularly. Link's Awekening, the OG Pokemon, Castlevania Adventure and others are one of my favourite games. But somewhere along the lines I simply stopped playing their games. I don't know if I "outgrew" them but most games I played on their platfors from some point on were third party games. The only game from them I would buy is the new Layton.
OK, so Halo built the identity of Xbox in 2001, Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil built the identity of PlayStation in 1996 and Sonic built the identity of SEGA in 1991.
Who cares today really? I really think that exclusives are the relic of the past and as cost of hardware and software increases make less and less sense. And Sony is part to blame for me that I have this opinion now since they release their games in PC making their hardware less appealling.
As the "Hear You" comment it may simply mean that Microsoft will have new entries in its iconic game series.
More Gameboy is always good, I grew up with this and the Game Gear and love both. Too bad SEGA kind of ignores its 8 bit (and Saturn and Arcade etc.) games but it is a bit understandable.
@Flaming_Kaiser The discussion of ownership of games in the digital age is a huge subject. Basically, it seems like you own nothing since most physical versions don't work offline without internet patches or do not have all the game in the disk. This problem started in the PS4 era and killed the physical versions making them a lot of time redundant. This is why I only collect from PS3 and backwards where there the above problem is present only in a handful of games. However, you still need a console that functions and hope that the old physical media has not degraded. Thus, the best way to preserve and play old games is via PC emulation! You can easily have multiple copies or ROM and ISO files.
And regardless of what Gabe or the internet says PC is better for preservation even for modern games. Most steam games run offline! And, once the game is fully patched, you can make multiple copies of it. PCs will always be around but a functional PS4 may not be easy to find in say 20 years.
Sony mailed me as a gift the UMD version of the movie "Spider-Man 2" ages ago as but it turned out it was not something special, many people received it.
Still, it was cool back in the day to have this movie on the go, I guess.
I personally not mind yhat much when the next generation will start but if the initial plan was for PS6 to be released in 2028, if it is changed to 2030 feel be a bit "outdated"? Or Sony will invest money in more R&D to offer a "better" system?
@PuppetMaster I get what you are saying about the cost of PC parts but most people don't go for the high end stuff. The most expensive device I have is the original Ally and I have no idea what is the best graphics card or how they cost. Of course the RAM is a huge issue but it affects more stuff, not just gaming. 80€ is way too much for a game and in PC with the various stores you can find new games much cheaper. Still if Sony did not release its games on PC I would not have considered to search PC at all. Finally, in PC you can emulate retro games as you wait when or if they are re released.
@Flaming_Kaiser That's the thing. In a console you are obviously tied to its launcher with the pros and cons that this entails. The prospect of the new Xbox with the various storefronts sounds more appealing than a possible PS6 where your only option would be to pay Sony, say 100€ for a new game. That of course if the new Xbox is not stupidly expensive which is very possible.
@DennisReynolds I don't agree with this statement. Times have changed. All that it took for me to transition to PC was to buy a Steam Deck. Then I realised that I don't have to pay 80 (!) € for a new game. Obviously, not much people transition but I don't think I am the only one. Now that both Sony and Square release their games on PC, gaming on PS5 (or PS4 / Xbox) makes less sense.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, I know that Xbox Ally is more like a PC and less like an Xbox, unless the vast majority of games you have are "play anywhere". I was trying to be semi sarcastic since, if the next Xbox works like an Ally then the whole "exclusive" games" thing will go the past where it should belong.
@Orpheus79V The think is since Peace Walker is the PS3 version to have Portable Ops and Ac!d re-released Konami has to make a PSP emulator. I am not saying that they won't do it but for Symphony of the Night they used the one from Sony thus making the title a PS4 exclusive and it is still one of the few Playstation exclusives.
Still it is highly likely that there will be a 3rd collection with Rising, the V duology updated for modern platforms and, hopefully, the PSP versions.
I already got a digital version. I have a bit of nostalgia for the SEGA and Gameboy versions. I still have my original cartridges so there is no need to buy a physical.
I enjoyed Horizon. The series finally went somewhere. If this something is interesting or not is debatable but I liked it, especially after the non sense of Reverie and the boring Daybreak 2.
I enjoyed the first Horizon but the second one had the most bland, cliche and unoriginal final arc for a game with such high production values. Or it is just me, I don't know. The DLC was more of the same but with a romance that came from nowhere for good measure.
That said the cliffhanger in the end is a least kind of interesting, providing that you still remember it if or when the series continues. I have not played any spin off so I don't know if those elements are addressed.
I will most probably go to the PC version day one and may get a disk version for PS5 down the line provided that it is an actual physical with all or most of the game.
I know that FF is not that strong but FF16 and Rebirth are the reason I have a PS5. Those games were advertised as exclusives back in the day and I am a huge fan of the series.
I have the exclusive from my uncle. "YS X: Prouder Nordics" will be announced to overwhelming reception from Western audiences that just bought Proud Nordics.
To be honest I would prefer if they focused more on a new game than the remake and drop the remakes after SC. Horizon, while not the best jrpg in the world, is way better than Daybreak 2 and I would love to see the conclusion of the Calvald arc.
I love this collection. I still have my Gameboy carts with Ducktales 1,2 and Darkwing Duck from the 90's. The NES games are kind of similar and I go back to this collection regurarly. So, I am not nostalgic for Goof Troop, or any SNES game really, but I would love if they added it in the PS4 version, even as (resonably priced) paid DLC.
I am a huge Final Fantasy fan having beaten all games multiple times. That said DoC is a mess but not that much from the gameplay perspective but the story. It is a mess of semi retcons and some plot elements have found their way in the Remake timeline for some strange reason.
I see a lot of hate for FF13 in the comments. I personally live the trilogy and I really enjoyed the first game.
To be honest now that Final Fantasy is not a PlayStation exclusive series I don't see myself buying a hypothetical PS6 anytime soon. In any case I think that current gen has a lot more to give. I don't think that there is something that limits developers that much. That said, if Sony wanted to release a new console next year and was caught "off guard" by the prices or RAM modules, as mentioned already in the comments, you cannot simply delay the console without losing tons of money to various contractors and such.

@PuppetMaster They delisted it for some reason but I think you can stll find steam keys or physical versions for not much money.
I would love if they could the SEGA games in this collection but I guess it would be a nightmare to license them.
Re: Starfield PS5 Needs a Serious Chunk of Your Console Storage
The Playstation community would like to thank sincerely the Xbox community for beta testing the game "Starfield".
In all seriousness I personally have no interest on the game, those open world games are not my thing but the game seems cool.

I have no interest in the Pro (and to be honest little interest even in the base PS5 now that everything is multiplatform).
However, if you are in the fence even for the base model and you can afford it maybe try to get one. I see them even discounted in some regions.

@LowDefAl You are right. I personally don't really care that much though since the game would have a myriad of patches anyway.

@LowDefAl I mean they could offer the rest as a download, no need to print more disks.
