Forget about the core remade campaign starring Kazuma Kiryu and new side-story involving Yoshitaka Mine: the upcoming Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties on PS5 and PS4 is shaping up to be one helluva retro compilation as well.
We’ve already reported on the inclusion of arcade gems Emergency Call Ambulance and SlashOut, but now a third Model 3 addition has been announced: the delightfully oddball Magical Truck Adventure.
Originally released in 1998, this game is effectively a co-op experience, where you control two children named Roy and Alma on a hand-operated rail cart.

You need to pump the lever up and down to accelerate through increasingly wacky stages, and there’s also a foot-pedal you use to dodge and jump over obstacles.
On the DualSense, the pumping motion will be mapped to the analogue sticks, allowing you to play the game solo on a single controller. So cool!
You may recall this remake also features a playable Game Gear, and now we have a full list of all the software included:
- Columns
- Fantasy Zone Gear
- Galaga 2
- G-LOC: Air Battle
- Mappy
- Pac-Man
- Puzlow Kids
- Sonic Chaos
- Sonic Drift
- Streets of Rage
- The GG Shinobi
- Woody Pop
According to a hands-on preview by YouTuber RogersBase, the Game Gear games have been updated with quality-of-life features like rewind, so this genuinely feels like a little compilation of classic handheld games.
As cool as all this is, we’ve started to see increasing frustration that SEGA isn’t making all of these awesome retro games available independently of Yakuza. After all, not everyone likes the series.
It’s a fair point: we reckon a meaty compilation of all SEGA’s classics, both console and arcade, is long overdue.
From the Master System to the Dreamcast and everything in between, we know we’d spend a significant amount of money on modern re-releases of the Japanese publisher’s back catalogue.
