Re: Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection Has More Games to Reveal, But Don't Hold Your Breath for PS2 Era

belmont

The last games will most likely be Mythologies, Special Forces and Mortal Kombat Gold. Other versions will be added as DLC like the PS1 version of MK4, the N64 version of Trilogy, the Game Gear version of MK2 etc.

As much as I would like to have the PS2 games may be in the second volume if this sells well. I don't think so by the way since this company has not tackled the PS2, to my knowledge.

As for MK vs DC and MK9 the situation is not easy. There are various right issues (MK9 has since pong veen delisted) and apparently the developers do not like the depiction of women in those games thinking it outdated which is of course non sense.

Re: The Next Xbox Is a PC, So What Does That Mean for PS6?

belmont

Even if the new Xbox is a PC it will have a Steam Deck interface, you want even know that it is a PC if you do not want to tinker it. And if you include all PC digital stores, Xbox Backwards Compatible program and community emulators the new Xbox could, in theory, play all games that have been released... ever. I am definitely interested. I know that in principle the Steam Deck does all of the above but a high end system with a console like OS is what I always wanted. Now that Square Enix has left PlayStation exclusivity and since all single player PS games will be on PC you could argue that this makes PS hardware a bit irrelevant. I personally, after I bought FF Rebirth the only other PS4 and 5 games I bought are occasionally retro games like Dino Crisis and Ridge Racer.

Re: Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster's Expensive Collector's Box Doesn't Include the Game

belmont

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare In PS4 you can play the digital games in as much consoles as you can but you have to be online. You can set a console as primary for offline play. I have not tried this on PS5 since I only have one console.

As for the topic... It is not a big deal. I may go for the Steam version but I may want some extra collectables. Square did the same with the latest Life is Strange.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Sony's State of Play Livestream for June 2025?

belmont

You forgot Bloodstained. I loved the original. I backed the PS4, Vita and Wii U copies and got the PS4, Switch and Steam copies! Since then I have the platinum trophy on PS4, all the achievements on PC, I 100%ed the awful Switch version and bought the game again on Xbox and got all the achievements again. Needless to say I loved the original and look forward to the sequel.

Re: Hellblade 2 Finally Getting Physical Edition on PS5, Courtesy of Limited Run Games

belmont

@Flaming_Kaiser The shipping was delayed multiple times actually. I was obviously aware of the import fees but the huge detail plus not having the latest update in the disk made the whole thing pointless.

Also, I don't really get the point to see the number of physical game sales. There are a lot of articles in this site that paint the picture that retail is much less than digital. Also, if you remove digital at all you remove all PC gamers and games in countries that do not have access to retail games. Digital accessibility literally created the indie game scene and ensures gaming preservation...

Re: Chaotic Crossover Brawler Ys vs. Trails in the Sky Reveals Its Roster Ahead of PS5, PS4 Summer Release

belmont

I have beaten all main line games of YS (and Trails, except Daybreak 2) multiple times and stll I don't like that Adol does not speak. It seems to be a relic of an old era when mute characters were around for some reason. I always find it hard it to connect with mute characters. However, Adol always finds girlfriends without speaking at all so who am I to judge?

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Remake Talk Returns as Website Updates with New Character Profiles

belmont

@Matroska Shouldn't the part where Cloud slaps Aerith be in Rebirth?

Anyway, those are not considered censorship, it is what it is from an ethical point, even though Yuffie's change does not really make much sense.

The point is in the FF7 Remake and Rebirth the main cast looks like they should and act like you thought they would. In Silent Hill 2 Maria acts like you thought but she does not look like you thought. This is some sort of modern censorship that I don't like.

Re: Final Fantasy 9 Remake Talk Returns as Website Updates with New Character Profiles

belmont

@LikelySatan I was not talking about censoring games, although I think it is not as much of an issue as the fans may make it seem. I don't think Rebirth or Yumia were censored.

My point was redesigning the character to feel more modern while losing what make the character unique or interesting in the first place. A recent example was Maria from the remake of Silent Hill 2. I loved the game but it seems that they did not get the point of the character when they redesigned Maria.

Re: Inquiry Already Underway Over Lacklustre DOOM: The Dark Ages Opening

belmont

The thing is the Doom The Dark Ages has some steep hardware requirements. It requires an RTX combatible graphics card with 8GB of video RAM. It is the first game that requires this. So, you cannot even start the game in a GTX card. Also the game playes horribly in Steam Deck. I have a mobile GPU, the 3050 RTX with 4GB video RAM and a Steam Deck. I simply cannot play the game in PC. I guess I may not be the only one. I would have bought the game in Steam if I could play it. By the way both Greenmangaming and Fanatical have a launch discount in the game.

Personally, I could get the game in PS5 but after I got the Platinum in Rebirth I, more or less, stopped using the console.

Re: Mortal Kombat Fans Are Fuming MK1's Support Appears to Be Over

belmont

I guess it is finally time to buy the game! I see the Definitive Edition to go as low as 40€. Still, having so many characters that have nothing to do with Mortal Kombat and are not that mainstream as guests was not such a great idea. Still, I don't get why there is no Sonya, etc. Finally, I was not fan of the "art direction". Some characters, especially the female ones, were a bit off.

Re: Reaction: Game Key PS5 Discs Are a Disgrace, and Sony Should Put a Stop to Them

belmont

@YeoSprings I don't get you point. If I buy a used game disk and play a game this is irrelevant to the publisher, they gain no money even if eventually the game may reach some more people.

As for the topic the last physical games I have bought are the Final Fantasy games on PS5. I will most probably not buy any other retail game except FF and most new games I buy on the Steam Deck anyway.

That said I never understood the blank disk thing. I mean they can't even put a version there even though it may require a patch?

In the end of the day retail games either do not exist or are missing content. Digital is way better for game preservation in the long run since you can store all game files, including possible patches and DLC, that you won't be able to download if you use a disk if the servers close.

Re: PS5 Fans Furious As Microsoft Ships DOOM: The Dark Ages with Just 85MB on the Disc

belmont

@themightyant The think is that info in doesitplay.org is sometimes misleading. For example it lists Final Fantasy 15 as playable from disk but this is clearly not true. The game has some bugs and later updates added a ton of content that are not even included in the final retail print if the game. My point is you can play a highly compolromised version of Final Fantasy 15 from the disk but you really shouldn't.

Re: PS5's New Virtua Fighter Grabs a Reveal Event This Weekend

belmont

Is it just me or is it a bit baffling that you say "PS5's Virtua Fighter"? I don't doubt it but were the platforms announced in the previous teaser trailer? The game might be a Switch 2 timed exclusive or launch initially only in Steam, like the recent port for all we know.

Re: Xbox Is Stepping Up Its Backwards Compatibility Efforts Again, to the Envy of PS5 Fans

belmont

As far as Sony is concerned I have given up. I ripped all my games from PS1, 2, PSP the Vita ones that do not have PS4 or Steam versions. I simply play them in my Steam Deck. However, I still buy them if they end up getting released. In fact the last game I bought some time ago for my PS4 and 5 was the Dino Crisis classic.

Except MGS4 a lot of PS3 games that people may want to play have PS4 or Steam versions, so I ended up not ripping those. I miss my SEGA classics in PS3 like Outrun though.

Re: Trails in the Sky's Superb Looking PS5 Remake Gets September Release Date

belmont

To be honest I feel a bit of Trails fatigue. The world building seems to go nowhere, they constantly try to redeem the villains, top nation leaders act way worse than real life governments and Crossbell is occupied by bizarre forces every other Thursday. I got Daydream 2 in the latest discount and I hope it makes me change my mind.

Ah and in a couple of years we went from bows and arrows to colossal tanks and after that to AI weapons! OK, I take it back I still love the series!

Re: Almost 2,500 Top-Notch PS5, PS4 Games Discounted in New PS Store Sale

belmont

Silent Hill 2 is still more expensive than how much I paid for the Steam version in launch day lol.

Anyway, I highly recommend it. It captures most of the aspects of the original game.

Also, I am a bit of a fanboy so I have Battle for the Grid and all its DLC. Still, it is a good fighting game with interesting mechanics. If you are a fan of Power Rangers I highly recommend it if you haven't checked it yet.

Re: Opinion: If You're on the Fence, Consider Buying a PS5 Now Before the Prices Inevitably Rise

belmont

It doesn't help that this generation feels a bit of underwhelming for me (even though it really isn't for most people) with most games not being exclusives, having PS4 and PC ports. The only "true" PS5 games I have are Final Fantasy 16 and Rebirth. The only other games I got recently were retro re releases. Since I got the Steam Deck the way I approach gaming changed. I feel that I don't need to have the next best thing. Also, in Steam you can find deals easier, I got Silent Hill 2 for 50€ at launch while in PS5 it costed 80€. My PS5 became a dust collector and I mostly play on the Steam Deck and in my laptop that I also use for work. The death of physical media doesn't help either with games being shipped incomplete in disks. I also travel a lot for work and having to carry the launch PS5 is a nightmare. Also, I have no interest in the Switch 2, I don't play Nintendo games.
