Fun fact; The Netherlands was the first in the world to do business with Japan. Some Dutch people got killed but we thought the confusion was worth it. Sony and Dutchman Herman could do it.
@Quadalog Where is you proof those games where successful? And I'm fine PS tries another service game but why 10? These things cost a ton to develop and their fail rate is huge. Why not focus support on PSVR2 o does it go the PSVR1 route and is left behind soon after release.
@Quadalog Non of these games got a new version on PS4. Isn't that a sign PlayStation didn't see enough of a return on investment to continue these games.
I play a game for the story, learning new gameplay and finish it after a fulfilling amount on time. Whatever fulfilling is depends on the game. AC, nice but no dlc for me as I'm done with it. Gran Turismo 8 years, I'm fine. Cod, no thank you ever. So most times I don't play mp games as I don't care for the loop and the garbage community and the lack of a good story .
I'm so glad Pachter isn't running PlayStation or any other gaming company. Up until now all studio's Sony bought are high quality and have a place in their organization. Bungie isn't going to be any different.
What this article fails to see are a few things. Yes MS bought a lot of ip's as it needs them due to a lack of creativity. PlayStation has a ton of ip that is not used an is developing a ton of new ip (half of the games they are making now is new ip). So PlayStation doesn't need that. Remember that an ip is as good or bad as the people who are making it. Look at Disney, muppets and Star Wars where great ip's but now are almost dead in the water.
What PS needs is to diversify it's portfolio and a shooter and a game as a service is missing. Bungie showed they are the best at both and PS can learn a lot from them while raking in money from the successful studio. Above that Bungie is a 900+ people studio, that is huge, they are about to open a new studio in Amsterdam and are making a new game that could be exclusive or not.
On the other hand MS bought studio's that have a ton of problems and don't do well. Their ip's (for a large part) isn't doing great and a lot of key players have left those companies and more and more of them are working with PlayStation (like former Cod developers that now formed Deviation Studio's).
So what this acquisition lacks in quantity of ip it makes up for it in quality and that is what PS is striving for. In that respect it's a huge win for PlayStation customers.
Sony has been buying high quality studio's. Insomniac and Bend Studio's where an amazing buy. Than they added BluePoint Games, Firesprite, Housmarque, Valkyrie Entertainment and Nixxes Software all in 2021. Great game studio's and high quality support studio's.
PlayStation has a ton of ip's and even more studio's with exciting idea's for new ip's. They bought a ton of quality developers to support all that creativity, something Activision/Blizzard lack and MS lacks too otherwise they didn't need to buy ip where top developers already left due to the working conditions and other crap that is going on there. PlayStation is doing great and should continue what they are doing.
Will MS take away multiplatform games, sure. If you want to play them buy a Xbox or PC. For me, at the moment, there is no need to go green. I'm looking forward to everything Sony is making and these games are always my highlights.
Does NFT's make a game better, does it need to be in there; NO. Regarding Troy Baker, he explained his remark was stupid and he didn't know too much about NFT's. Give the guy a break. Source: https://youtu.be/HcJDYkm4jZA
I think the new services won't have New, day one first-party games. The service will be compared to Xbox's one and be regarded a failure because of that.
I don't care for services like this. I buy a game I like. Having all games delivered day one devalues the experience for me. In the past when I had a PC I had all new games (not legal) and it devalued gaming for me.
If Half-Life: Alyx would come to PSVR2 I would buy it instantly. If not I would wait for a few years to see if enough software I'd like to play will make it to the platform.
Technically the game wasn't in the best shape on release, that was the main reason why reviewers slammed on it. Bend supported the game and soon it was a good running awesome game with a cliffhanger ending that needs a conclusion. I hope they go back to this ip when their new ip is done. If that is a success maybe they can grow into 2 teams.
The old AC games got a bit stale but they had the dense city, historical building an figures. It needed to evolve but not change in a Teletubbie game. You do one thing and than you do it again and again and again. Every village and city has the same assets and hardly any character. I wish they would go back to their roots and evolve from there. As this thing sells like crazy I would be happy with a spinoff series. Was the DLC worth it, not for me. I bought the gold edition for 35 euro's so I got a great deal but it's more of the same and it already had that in spades.
PlayStation has a huge catalog of ip's and a lot of studios that are growing from 1 to 2 teams. Those teams have sequels and new ip's in development. The need for flexible workers over all these teams must be huge as game development demands different amounts of people working on it. These moves with this and the Dutch studios are very smart and helpful to keep projects moving.
Well, Sony currently really is into making more multiplayer crap and "directors cuts" that all come with extra revenue streams...unfortunately.
So giving their games away in a subscription should at that point have a build in revenue stream to get more money from the sheep's.
@naruball You sound like an apologist for a greedy corporation. Remember PS3, we got 6 PS+ games, all very high quality. Now only 2.5, I call that greed. Same with the rise of prices for PS5 games where most companies just ask the same price as las gen.
I wouldn't call it a game, more of an interactive experience. It hangs between a walk trough a museum on steroids, Burning Man and Area 15. It's different and I loved it.
I couldn't care less. The only thing I'm looking forward to is everything Insomniac Games is making (Spider-man 2 and Wolverine) not because it is Marvel but because they are fun games with a decent story.
Witch all do respect, I like the games, but story wise they are convoluted pretentious crap. I can tolerate that in a game but in a movie or tv series I'm not that flexible.
It's just I'm not interested in multiplayer games. I don't care for the endless game loops they present nor the fact you play it with others. I'm the guy who likes single player story driven games.
There is an art in managing expectation, PlayStation lacks that art. Would they have added ":Indie Edition" to the name it would be okay and I wouldn't care to watch.
These games get cheap quite quick. I'm now playing Jakuza 6 and Kena but I expect to pick this one up later in the year as I liked the first Judgement game a lot.
I don't understand PlayStation anymore. Why bring Uncharted 4 to PC when it's the end of the series story? They miss everything that led up to this. Second these games already look great, sure they will look better but why? I'm sure conversion from PC to PS5 is a push of the button/little work thing but still. I'm also positive it will be full priced even if you owned both games and that is NO SALE for me.
@JustPlainLoco That is what I expect but maybe there is a possibility Star Citizen itself can come to PS5 now there is a sort of connection...if the game is ever finished.
The studio is also working on a Star Citizen game thingy (that PC infinite Beta game). Wonder how that will go now it's a Sony Studio. Sure they have to finish their contract...
@UrbanPlaystation A way out and It takes Two just to name a few. My point is that a lot of PlayStation studios are working on a multiplayer component. They have done that again and stopped it because most (not all, most) didn't care for it. It's a waist of time and money.
To me this is a waist of money, time and talent. Sony tried this during PS3 and every single one of their efforts failed. There are a ton of mp games out there (good and very bad) but not a lot of quality single player action adventures. Fill that niche as that is the only reason I am on that platform.
I'm not going to pay for the upgrade so I wait till the total price for the PS5 version is below 20 euro as I think that is worth it. I'm not going to support these kind of practices.
When PlayStation Plus was introduced it was an amazing service that after time got watered down greatly. Bring it to the level of that PS3 era and I'm happy. More quality, no video or other buffet style crap.

About 1% of all service games continue, the rest fails. There is no point in trying AGAIN as all these games saw the light of day and died.
