One of the only games upgraded for PS5/XSX to release in a perfectly acceptable state was Grand Theft Auto V. I’ve put over 50hrs into the PS5 version since launch and it’s so much better than the previous PS4 version via backwards compatibility.

Such a sad state of affairs when so many other seemingly simple new-gen rereleases are in such a poor state. It really shouldn’t be this difficult, right?

@KundaliniRising333 I completely agree! Horizon Forbidden West is absolutely gorgeous, but if Guerrilla would only dial down on the map icons and allow us to freely climb anywhere, it would probably be one of my favourite games!

Man, I really wish I had a TV that’s capable of 120hz and VRR functionality. That being said, with the vast majority of games, I’m more than happy with just the 60hz, but I imagine GT7 would be all the better with those higher frame rates!

If it was a proper native system, I’d be there Day One for a new Sony handheld. Just like I was for both the PSP and Vita.

Never really bothered with remote play though. I’ve tried it a few times – while in the SAME ROOM as my PS4/PS5, and with great WiFi, too – and the performance was pants. The Wii U could do it, but a PlayStation can’t? No excuses. Therefore, there’s no way that I’m down for anything that’s either remote play or cloud based.

Awesome news! I’ve been waiting for this update before jumping in for a second playthrough. This is my favourite PS5 game so far.

Despite buying it on PS4, I never got around to playing The Witcher 3 last gen and since the free PS5 update, I’ve been waiting for a decent patch before getting around to it in its new-gen form. Sounds like we’re very nearly there.

Thanks for the PSA, @ShogunRok. I played it safe and hit 'add to library' right away. I actually never got around to starting P5R on PS4 and was planning on picking up the recent PS5 release. But it doesn’t seem to add much beyond 60FPS, so I’m sticking with what I’ve got and I’ll finally start it once I’m done with Resident Evil 4. Thanks again!

It’s the Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for me. Can’t wait for the former, will wait on reviews for the latter.

So happy to see such a strong week for games available on PlayStation systems. Especially Resident Evil 4 still in top spot. It’s comfortably my favourite game since God of War Ragnarok.

Seeing as my preordered copy didn’t turn up until Tuesday, I’ll be knee deep in Resident Evil 4 for as much of this weekend as humanly possible. Man, what a game!

Who in their right mind would give this fabulous remake of Resident Evil 4, an all time classic, a 1 for Abysmal? Clearly someone who hasn’t played it.

There are a ton of great games on PS5, but Gran Turismo 7 is still one of my absolute favourites games on the system.

@theMEGAniggle @Jswift56 I’m in the same boat. I’d like to pick Dreams up myself, but only if/when it gets a native PS5 patch. In the meantime, I’ve got plenty of stuff in my backlog to be getting on with. Which reminds me, I really must get around to finishing Sackboy: A Big Adventure already!

@Beerheadgamer82 At least is was just your balcony. Once a pigeon done a MASSIVE diarrhoea on me while I was on my way to work. The little bugger literally ruined my favourite suit. I’m talking a huge, runny, steaming brown turd all over my shoulder and back. Had to hose both the blazer and trousers off in the garden. I can laugh about it now, but man, I was peeved at the time 😂

With over 350 hours between the PS4 and Switch versions, Dead Cells is one of my most played games on PS5 via backwards compatibility. I’ve even double dipped on all the paid DLC to date, so this makes me really happy. Hope it’s a free upgrade!

Although I put in 63 hours on my way to beating HFW, I wasn’t exactly in love with the game. But I’ll be grabbing the Burning Shores DLC at or around launch regardless. Despite my misgivings, it’s still an absolutely gorgeous game after all.

For those who’ve yet to try it, I implore my fellow PS fans to buy Dead Cells. It’s utterly incredible. And the recent Return to Castlevania DLC elevates the game even further.

Amazon Prime you say? I can finally watch it. Woohoo!

There are votes for a 1 for abysmal in every single one of these Push Square polls. Come on guys, very few games deserve a one, if any, and certainly not Wo Long.

I don’t quite understand why these new Falcom releases aren’t PS5 native. We’re in the third year of the new generation, after all.

Gran Turismo 7 is the single biggest reason that I desperately want to acquire a PSVR2 post haste!

So for non-PSVR2 users, is it worth upgrading to the standard PS5 version from the PS4 version I have? I’m guessing the haptics alone will be nice, but I guess it’s worth checking.

Finally! So annoying having to delete a disc version of a game I’ve bought physically and having to re-download a digital version if that game later comes to Plus. That’s right, yes?

Oh it’s an easy NINE for me. Fantastic game. Despite what someone has put, no game deserves an abysmal, and certainly not OT2.

Shame to see Octopath Traveler II drop out of the top ten. Such an incredible game! But glad to see God of War Ragnarok holding strong in fourth.

I really want a PSVR2 for Gran Turismo 7, RE Village, Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite, but Moss and Moss: Book II are two games I’ve always wanted to play.

If PlayStation do the right thing and add an Astro game (either a new one or a remaster of Rescue Mission) and work out a deal with Valve for Half-Life Alyx, this peripheral will quickly become impossible for me to ignore.

Seeing as I never play online and I try to buy the games that I really want, I’ve not been subscribed to Plus for a few years now, but for a fiver, I’ve grabbed Premium for a month. I’ll try a bunch of games that I don’t own and take it from there.

There’s a good few games from the PS4 generation that I never got around to, such as Days Gone, Gravity Rush 2, Concrete Genie and WipEout: Omega Collection that I’m looking forward to trying. Especially Days Gone as it has a performance patch on PS5.

In preparation for the hugely anticipated Return to Castlevania DLC, I’m playing Dead Cells and pretty much nothing else!

@ErrantRob Cheers dude, I’ll do just that. I really do want to play these Soulslikes, I just have to pick one and stick with it. The problem in this day and age is having a big backlog, so there’s always something else to play if it doesn’t click in the first few hours. But if I really stick with it and practice, I have every chance of succeeding. Well, in theory at least!

Always wanted to play the Nioh games, but I’m not confident that I have the skill set necessary to do so. But seeing as it’s on Game Pass, I’m definitely gonna give Wo Long a good old go on my Series X and if it really connects with me, I’ll definitely pick up a physical copy on PS5. Fingers crossed I get on with it.

@gbanas92 Thanks man, really appreciate that! I absolutely adore Rez Infinite and I’m eager to know if it’s worth shelling out the £8.99 to upgrade to the PS5 version sans VR2.

That being said, I really do want to pick up a PSVR2 at some point. Hopefully sooner rather than later. It’s just that to warrant the outlay, I do need a few more games to become available for it that really appeal to my tastes. Gran Turismo 7, RE Village, Rez, Tetris Effect and, of course, Thumper are all great starts, but something like a new Astro’s game or the holy grail, Half-Life: Alyx, would be especially difficult to resist.

I own the PS4 version of Thumper, but don’t own PSVR2 (or the original PSVR for that matter). Would you say that it’s still worth me upgrading to the PS5 version? Same question goes for Rez Infinite. Should I pay the £3.99 and £8.99 respectively for the vanilla PS5 experience?

Having recently finished The Last of Us Part I, I’ve now moved onto the Left Behind DLC and I’m having a great time with it so far. Not sure how long it is, but once I’m done with that, I have Stray, OlliOlli World and Rollerdrome to get on with. I’m really looking forward to finally getting around to all three of these smaller games, but not quite sure which to start first. Stray maybe?

[EDIT] Instead of any of those, I’ve ended up just playing the Octopath Traveler II Prologue Demo on PS5, and had to pop back here to gush about it. Both the gameplay and combat are fantastic and the visuals are utterly sublime. This has gone from a 'not particularly bothered' to a 'must play' in the space of an hour. I implore anyone with even a passing interest in RPG’s to give the demo a try. It’s awesome!

Super excited for this. I have Dead Cells on both PS4 and Xbox, but as I have all the existing DLC on the Switch version of the game, that’s where I decided to pre-order the Return to Castlevania content. As a huge fan of both Dead Cells and Castlevania, however, I may end up grabbing it on PlayStation, too.

I’m hoping for Half-Life: Alyx and a Metal Gear Rising remaster. Oh and for something completely out of left field, I’d love to see a console port of ZeroRanger. It’s a fabulous shooter that’s labelled by many as the Undertale of shmups.

Surely you have to include Rez Infinite in this list? It’s a fabulous game.

@munstre I’m just going off the types of games I like to play, and none of these appeal to me. I, like many, want to see big budget, AAA games announced for PSVR2.

Lots of quantity, not enough quality for me. Not yet at least.

This reminds me that I really must pick up PowerWash Simulator on PS5. Loved it on Game Pass and I want to replay on PlayStation to enjoy it again and grab some trophies while I’m at it.

Clearly, this isn’t the PSVR2 'killer app' we hoped it would be, making the need for Half-Life: Alyx more pertinent than ever. Let’s hope Sony are at least talking to Gabe and Co. My fingers are firmly crossed as I really want to want PSVR2.

Well, I was discharged from hospital earlier this week after a 7-day admission. I’ll have to go back in for surgery in the next 2-3 months, but thankfully, I was able to make the most of being back home and finished The Last of Us Part I yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it, too. With that done and dusted, I think I‘ll move onto Stray this weekend. I’m also planning to revisit Returnal and this time commit to overcoming its savage difficulty.

@theheadofabroom I feel for you buddy. I’ve had nine major ops since being diagnosed with Crohn’s back in 2008 and live in constant pain. Like, say, 5/10 pain, that’s normal to me. But every so often (like last Monday) it’ll spike all the way up to severe 10/10 pain. That’s when I need to get to hospital for IV meds. The MRI showed multiple strictures, so it looks like I’ll be having another bowel resection next week.

I hope your own health issues get better in time and that you’re able to live your life to the absolute fullest.

Unfortunately I’m stuck in hospital after a nasty Crohn’s flare-up on Monday. Had an MRI yesterday and told just this morning that I need major surgery. So no gaming for me this weekend.. or maybe the next few weekends ☹️ And I was one session away from finishing The Last of Us Part I as well.
