Update []: Just in case there was some confusion, PS Plus Essential’s offering for April 2026 will be announced next week, on Wednesday, 1st April.
This is one of those confusing months where the first Tuesday in the month (the day new PS Plus Essential games are always made available) is actually not until 7th April. So it means you have to wait a few more days for confirmation of the lineup.
As we already know from a very good source, Lords of the Fallen will be one of the games included in the lineup. Check back next week for the other two titles.

Original Story: Ahead of the official announcement, a game from April 2026's PS Plus Essential lineup has been leaked.
As per usual, the leak comes from the incredibly reliable Dealabs, who claim that Lords of the Fallen — the second Lords of the Fallen, not the first one with the bearded guy on the cover — will headline April's selection.
- Lords of the Fallen (PS5) | Review
The action RPG first released in October 2023 for PS5. At the time, it received decent reviews, but the title really came into its own after receiving a number of major updates.
As it stands right now, Lords of the Fallen is widely considered to be one of the best Soulslike games money can buy; a dark fantasy adventure that combines some gorgeous art direction with crunchy combat and a core gameplay mechanic that sees you step between two distinct realities.
Again, the full April 2026 lineup is expected to be revealed next week, on Wednesday the 1st April. Two other games will be announced alongside Lords of the Fallen. We will of course be covering the news (and any additional leaks!) here on Push Square.
Are you happy with Lords of the Fallen being on PS Plus Essential for next month? Get ready to dodge roll in the comments section below.

Good choice, I’m just starting it and I’m rather enjoying myself with it.
Very interesting, always wanted to get lords of the Fallen but never got round to doing so
I might renew my sub for this.
Can't grumble with this.
I actually have it on disc but never got around to starting it. That'll teach me I guess
Nice to see Lords of the Soulslike in the line-up.
The Dragon Rider welcomes new players to the slaughter.
Sick of souls like so avoiding it hopefully other choices will be better
I have only heard really good things since their 2.0 update ironed out a lot of the issues that dragged the game down.
A decent one for those interested in soulslikes. I've just stepped back in to work towards the platinum myself, so I hope others enjoy it too.
Not touching this game with a ten-foot pole, not after the CEO turned out to be a mega chud.
I almost bought it the last time it was on sale. Looks like this'll be a solid month for me.
I found Lords of the Fallen in a bargain bin for $10 about 2 weeks ago and I am currently playing through it at the moment. The best way I can describe it is if you combined Dark Souls & Bloodborne. I highly recommend. 👍
Goddammit I just finished this about a month ago! Then again it was on sale for £12 so no biggie.
Its a great game and I would recommend it to anyone, even to those with souls-like fatigue as its one of the easier souls-likes but still very enjoyable!
Awesome choice, I played it a bit when I used to have an Xbox and gamepass but there were more interesting games to play and I never stuck with it.
Glad the opportunity will present itself again.
I'm completely burned out on Souls-likes but it's a decent choice.
I've not long finished Dark Souls 3 and am playing Wolong Fallen Dynasty, so this is a nice get.
Not a very good game and even after the 2.0 update it still looks rough.
Oh goody. Own physical copy hit haven't played it yet. Saves me getting disc out now and can play on portal
@ShogunRok I thought they would generally announce PS Plus Essential games in such a way that they become available on first Tuesday of the following month. Therefore, I expected the announcement would come on 1st April. Nevertheless, it is a very strong addition and I look forward to it!
That's a pretty awesome PS Plus Essential addition.
@vikramsingh We were just discussing this on Slack, you're right I believe. Should be announced next week, although we'll keep an eye out today just in case.
Rob is going to edit the article.
Fantastic souls-like game. I had a blast while it lasts!
The game is decent enough but I felt it was a bit flat overall with no memorable bosses or areas. I also found the weapon options where kinda meh with nothing late game standing out as any better than your starting item.
Stil its a decent get for the service for those who want to give it a play.
@get2sammyb @vikramsingh The leak being a week early threw me off!
Edit is in place now, thanks!
@Frmknst How great would the gaming world be if not the souls genre but a good one got that hype.
I imagine it would be exactly the same except then we might have someone called Tsnkmrf moaning about a different genre they didn't like instead.
Great game, especially after all the updates. In my opinion, Lies of P is the superior game, but LotF is definitely worth your time if you like Souls-like games. It's not the easiest in the genre, but it's also nowhere near as difficult as the Nioh or First Berserker games.
I have been close to buying this game multiple times. Glad I didn't bother. Had a feeling this would join the PS+ ranks soon enough.
I am confused as I’ve played Lords of the Fallen before, but I’m not sure which Lords of the Fallen I have played.
@Divergent95 Love the banishers profile picture. Red is an awesome protag.
Expected this to drop on to extra rather than essential. Happy enough with that, one of the many "will definitely be on ps+" games on my list.
Meh, not my type of game. Far too many of these types of games but pleased others will enjoy it if it's their type of thing
@themightyant I just watched a great video about this update from German-speaking YouTuber „Jack Fromsoft“ (and because of his heavy dialect no easy auto-translation). He says that almost every bad aspect of the release version is fixed, except the low number of enemy types and their abysmal positioning in the world, and that its bosses are still too easy. He regards it as the best non-FromSoft Souls game.
@StrifeInMidgar @Divergent95 What an underrated gem it is
@StrifeInMidgar Thank you! For me, the game was a cultural reset, but the world wasn't ready for it. I'll die on this hill defending it and promoting it lmao!
@SuperSilverback Indeed, it gave us a mix of God of War, Life is Strange and Detroit Become Human. It's an iconic game lol!
Gave it one evening and must say it's much worse than first LotF, but I'll try to give it chance again.
After trying Extra and Premium Essential is where it’s at for me, not every month has a banger but you only need one or two in a year to make it worth while, if this is correct looking forward to April
This is a nice surprise! It's something I've been curious about as a fan of FromSoftware games, but I've been burned by a couple of non-From attempts at the genre in the past. This is a pain free entry to a series I hope I will enjoy.
This was a great game and an excellent addition to the souls-like genre. The dual world function was really a nice mechanic and added some depth to the gameplay.
I played this game co-op with my brother just after the 2.0 release and the game ran so poorly online we kept having to put it on hold. I think it was something to do with the auto saving that was causing major pauses every few seconds. If that’s been fixed then I highly recommend it!
It did run perfectly in single player though.
@Max_the_German I've heard similar things both from friends and online. Two friends specifically said it's between this and Lies of P as their favourite non-From Souls game and talk about it often.
Hopefully the other two games are actually decent then, otherwise not a month for me.
Where's Dragon's Dogma 2?
With GOW: RAG, Spidey 2, Alan Wake 2, Space Marines 2, Banisher's: Ghosts of New Eden, Jedi Survivor 1+2, Hogwarts: Legacy, Last of Us pt 1 and Rift Apart I've made home my subscription, but ending with Dragon's Dogma 2 would be the perfect crescendo to a full year's sub of Premium.
Not a game I would have bought, but definitely keen to play it, with the co-op and combat refinements. Otherwise, it felt like a successful - if standard - soulslike. But a co-op campaign elevates it, in my eyes.
Great choice, I still wish people had gotten to experience Dragon's Dogma 2.
This game is absolutely rubbish
One of my favourite games, the 2.0 version is a great experience. Nice introduction to soulslike as its more forgiving and many QoL mod like options. The ng + 0 at anytime is a god send. As are the level adjacent weapon pick ups.
Man I’m getting lucky. I had this in my cart in the Steam sale and then last second took it out saying I’d get to it later. Looks like I’ll be playing it on my PS5 somewhat soon!
I think I saw that the deluxe version of this is game is $10 in the spring sale. Not posting to dunk on the inclusion in the service. Just FYI for those who would rather have the deluxe version for that price.
You could claim the regular version and still buy deluxe, obviously. I claim every game on Plus just in case, even if I never plan to play it!
Absolutely fantastic game once you get used to the core switching mechanic, probably the best non-From Software soulslike out there. Also recommend Bleak Faith to those who may have overlooked it.
Highly recommend this title in cooperative mode. It’s extremely fun with a friend.
Brilliant game if anyone is looking for something to scratch that Dark Souls itch.
Starting off to be an excellent month!
@Divergent95 If that is your reasoning, you are missing out. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. If you are going to let politics infuse itself into your purchasing habits, you might need to return that PS5 that could have parts made in the Foxconn factory.
Ok guys, this here is maybe THE best copycat of souls games. Don't miss it if you love Dark Souls series.
First game was a stinker, they tried it again (with literally the same title) and it was a stinker again. Give it up already. I'll be skipping this one.
I bought the deluxe edition a couple of years ago and just finished it back in February I want to say I loved this game still play every once in awhile
I’m currently on my second solo playthrough and I love it. Very hyped for the upcoming sequel as well.
It’s a very good game, and I actually love the story. Highly recommend the lore vids on YouTube if you’re curious though there’s some spoilers obviously.
There is some optimisation jank still (a shame quality mode is 30FPS as the extra environment details really add to it) and they still do have a few mini bugs but overall playing on performance mode you get a very solid game. It’s not the hardest either.
What’s with this Dealabs person? They must have microphones in Sony’s PS+ boardroom or something. Maybe Dealab is the janitor at Sony HQ and he looks through the papers after their monthly meetings where they decide the games.
That game was rad, but I think Sonic Superstars came out around that time so I was obviously busy playing Mario Wonder.
...lol.
The word Soulslike took away any interest I had for it. That genre just isn't my cup of tea because it always feels like it doesn't respect my time.
One of a group of games I've always hovered over in the store and then not purchased, despite my interest - so very pleased to see this in Essential.
Great game, glad it’ll have even more players available if your looking to co op.
I enjoyed the original Lords of the Fallen on PS4, so I'm sure I'll enjoy this.
I'm a Souls fan so I'll definitely give this a try
