I’ll be playing my GOTYSF (Game of the Year so far), Gran Turismo 7 this weekend. I was extremely sick last weekend and ended up in hospital for three days, so taking pity on me, my wife preordered me a copy of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, so I’ll be continuing with that, too. I finished A New Hope the other day and I’m really looking forward to playing through my favourite of all nine movies, The Empire Strikes Back! It’s a gorgeous game and a ton of fun to play.

All this time later, pound for pound, Astro’s Playroom is still the most fun I’ve had on PS5 to date. It’s that good.

I’m just surprised it’s only £15.99 on the UK’s PSN store! Even though it’ll be 'free' on Xbox Game Pass, Trek to Yomi still looks like great value, so I’ll be playing on Playstation for sure. This and Stray are the two indies I’m most excited for on PS5.

This is incredible news for fellow Point and Click fans. Now, in the meantime, just re-release the Special Edition’s of the first two Monkey Island games, please. Pretty please?

After nearly forty hours with the fabulous Gran Turismo 7, I’ll be working my way up to fifty over the course of the weekend.

Only problem is, when I played a couple quick races last night, the right side haptics suddenly stopped working on my DualSense. Fingers crossed that it’s okay when I boot it back up later. I really don’t need another £55 expenditure right now.

Other than that, I really must get back to Horizon Forbidden West and my fresh playthrough of Grand Theft Auto V on PS5. Also, after falling off around halfway through, I’ve also got Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut on the back burner. Away from Playstation, I’m a few hours into the deceptively difficult Tunic on my Series S. Really hoping this one makes it’s way to PS5 once Microsoft’s exclusivity period is over.

I was all up for this when it was originally announced, but all this time later, and with so many all-new games to play, I’m slightly nonplussed by the news of its impending release now. Maybe a bunch of positive reviews will reignite my enthusiasm for this one. No word on pricing, yet?

[EDIT] I noticed that the Nintendo Switch version is £19.99 on the eShop, so I’m guessing that’s what it’ll be on PS5, too.

I do like that Guerilla and Polyphony are rolling these patches out for HFW and GT7, respectively. Always appreciate some detailed patch notes.

Okay, so I’m now actually genuinely interested in PS Plus for the first time since PS5 launched. I might dip in for a couple months and see how it is before considering any annual purchase.

Lots more Gran Turismo 7 for me! I’m completely addicted to the sublime handling model and seriously moreish single-player progression system. So much so in fact, that two thirds of the way through, I’ve totally put Horizon Forbidden West on the back burner – though I do plan on switching discs after the weekend and finishing my journey through Guerilla’s stunning sequel next week.

Over on Nintendo Switch meanwhile, I’ll also squeeze in some Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the kids. After close to a hundred hours of getting to know all 48 courses like the back of our hands, we’re now enjoying the comparatively fresh booster pass courses.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Gran Turismo 7 just got even better, and the ability to sell cars will be cool, too. I’m probably in the minority, but for me at least, GT7 is knocking on the door of being a 10/10 game. It’s definitely my favourite PS5 game to date.

Too busy being addicted to Gran Turismo 7, plus after 36 or so hours, I have Horizon Forbidden West to finish off, too. But once that’s sorted, I’m going straight back to Returnal. How I’ve missed it these past few months!

I just want the game icons on the home screen to display as the actual PS5 versions, not PS4. Considering that’s how they were displayed up until a few system updates back, it shouldn’t take too much effort to get them back to how they were, right? The icons for Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Deathloop are the standout eyesores in my opinion.

@amersga @render Thanks for the advice, guys. I really appreciate it. If I can tear myself away from GT7, I’ll try and get back into Returnal. I absolutely love the game and I’m determined to succeed. I’ve been beaten by the first boss several times, but I think, as you said, I’ll watch some YouTube videos and give it another go!

Perfect opportunity to jump back into Returnal and have my backside handed to me all over again. However, after some 13 hours of glorious gunplay and exploration, I remain entrenched in the very first biome. With that in mind, I still adore the game and I’ll no doubt reach that elusive second biome. Any tips out there for the first boss?

For the last few weeks I’ve been alternating between Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7, the latter of which being my favourite PS5 game to date, so it’s nice to have an excuse to boot up Returnal once more.

Despite its online issues, I’m very happy to see Gran Turismo 7 still in pole position. For me, it’s easily the best game of the year and my favourite PS5 game to date!

Lots more Gran Turismo 7 (now that it can actually be played!) and Horizon Forbidden West for me. Over on Xbox, I’m also a couple hours into Tunic and absolutely adore it!

Also, my eldest daughter is coming round today, so I may pick up the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe expansion pass, for some heated four-player kart racing.

[EDIT] I did indeed end up grabbing the 'booster course pass' for Mario Kart and can confirm that we had a blast racing on the new tracks! Highly recommended.

A cheap Ghost of Tsushima? Nope, to me this looks like a supercool, side scrolling, monochromatic GoT, and exactly what I didn’t know I wanted. Can’t wait for release!

I love Horizon Forbidden West, but GT7 is, by far, my favourite game of the year so far, and it’s great to see these patches.

So happy to see Gran Turismo still in pole position. I’ve loved playing Forza Horizon 5 these past few months, but as far as I’m concerned, Polyphony’s latest release is superior in every way. In fact, it feels remarkably similar to how I remember Gran Turismo 3 on PS2 at the time, and I’m enjoying it way more than I ever expected to.

I only ever played through Journey once shortly after it (re)released on PS4. I have it installed on my PS5, and I might just give it a second play through. Don’t have time to play it tonight, but if I can find time between HFW and GT7, I’ll do so next week. Wonderful game, exemplary experience.

Despite enormous games, like the sequels to God of War and Breath of the Wild, being slated for 2022, Stray remains one of my most anticipated games of the year. Especially as my own kitten, Sonny, is an absolutely hilarious little rascal. Really can’t wait for this one.

I shelled out the £8.75 this morning and it’s downloading onto my PS5 as I type. Can’t wait to dive back in next week!

So, am I right in saying that all PS5 owners can claim GTA Online for free, even without a PS Plus subscription? Obviously, I won’t be able to play it, but it’d be nice to claim. Especially as I bought the full PS4 game at release. Either way, I’ll be upgrading the campaign to the PS5 version.

Also, out of interest, @get2sammyb, will you guys be reviewing the new gen release like you did with Cyberpunk 2077?

More Horizon Forbidden West for me. I’m 30 hours in and loving every single minute. I wish I had either Elden Ring or Gran Turismo 7 to play when I’m done, but I’ve still got Demon’s Souls that I’ve not yet started. Over on Series S, I’m still having a blast with Forza Horizon 5. It may not be GT7, but it’s absolutely glorious to play!

@Kidfunkadelic83 Sounds like fun my man! Damn, I want a steering wheel, too! Is an expensive one necessary? I’ve seen one in GAME for around the £300 mark.

@Col_McCafferty My copy of HFW turned up on the Saturday, too. I’m guessing it was because of the storm. Haven’t preordered GT7, but I hope to get it this weekend… wife’s approval and personal finances permitting, of course 😉

@Kidfunkadelic83 I really wish those Feeder songs were in GT7. Just a Day, Buck Rogers, etc were absolutely iconic and super nostalgic. As for this game, I’m really hoping that my wife gives me the green light for starters orders on this latest iteration on PS5. I’ve had a blast with Forza Horizon 5 these past few months, but I’m itching to get on the track with GT.

I can’t wait to buy/play this, but I’m barely a quarter of the way through Horizon Forbidden West and I can’t start another open world game until I’m done with this one. Lots to look forward to by the sounds of it.

@AchievingGamer I picked up a Series S at Christmas to compliment my PS5 and Switch OLED. It was worth it for Forza Horizon 5 alone! What a game. Probably the game I’ve had the most fun with since Super Mario Odyssey. The PS5 is my main console though, with my Switch probably getting the least attention. Well, at least until BOTW2 finally shows its face.

I’ll be playing more Horizon Forbidden West this weekend. I’m currently 15 hours in and having a blast. For me, it went from okay, to good, to great, to absolutely incredible in the space of five hours of gameplay.

It looks stunning in resolution mode, the combat is phenomenal, and the story is getting better the more the game goes on. Even the platforming isn’t as bad as some would have you believe. My only negative is Aloy. I’m just not super keen on her. Other than that, HFW is a masterpiece.

I have Demon’s Souls on PS5, but still haven’t got round to it. Is it bad that I still want to buy, and play, Elden Ring before I do? Currently 15hrs into Horizon Forbidden West and the more I play it, the more I love it. Maybe I’ll get Elden Ring once I’m done with it.

@Skywalker1080p I preordered Horizon ForbiddenWest from The Game Collection, but it didn’t turn up until Saturday. I was so annoyed. Hope you get Elden Ring today though!

@get2sammyb Gyro controls are literally the only reason I sometimes plump for a game on Switch instead of PS5. Hopefully, the trend does indeed continue.

It’s more Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for me on PS5. I never got around to Lost Legacy on PS4 and yet I still opted to start with Uncharted 4. I wanted to check out how different it felt at 60 frames per second and now I can’t stop. Trying to finish it before Forbidden West releases on Friday.

Elsewhere, I’m still playing the fabulous Forza Horizon 5 on my Series S, and in anticipation for the upcoming Live A Live, I’ve also started Octopath Traveler over on Nintendo Switch, which I’ve found to be a great little game to unwind with in bed.

Looks great, and loving the Bioshock feel of it, but that voice acting and lip-syncing combo is a real bummer. Other than that, it looks really cool.

@Don_Corleone Mate, I was JOKING regarding the Activision buyout! I haven’t played a Call of Duty in years because I just don’t like the series. It has absolutely nothing to do with exclusivity.

I have a PS5, an Xbox Series S and a Switch, and I own tons of exclusive games and non-exclusive games. I don’t care what system a game is on. If I want it, I buy it. If I don’t, I don’t.

And it’s not Xbox exclusive? Lol. Yeah, I’ll still pass!

This is definitely on my radar. With so much else out in the next month or so, I doubt I’ll get it at release, but probably at some point in the not too distant future.

Death’s Door for twelve quid? That’s a bargain that shouldn’t be slept on! At just fifteen pounds, same goes for Hades. Two spectacular indies right there!

I’m finishing up Guardians of the Galaxy before moving onto a certain Legacy of Thieves Collection this weekend. I finished Uncharted 4 on PS4, which, other than Golden Abyss on Vita, was my first foray into the series on console, but I’ve never played The Lost Legacy and I’m really looking forward to finally getting around to it on PS5. At a silky 60FPS no less!

Very valid take from Sammy. I for one am in complete agreement. I’m becoming increasingly happy that I didn’t renew my last subscription. I don’t play online and the games they’re offering simply don’t appeal to me. Sure, I miss out on the PS5’s collection of PS4 titles, but I own most of them anyway.
