
In a story that’s unlikely to affect video games directly but further demonstrates escalating global issues, Sony has temporarily suspended sales of its various memory cards, primarily used by digital cameras.
As first reported by PetaPixel, it’s paused production of both CFexpress and SDXC/SDHC memory cards, although some SD cards do remain. You may be able to find some remaining stock in stores while inventory runs down.
It’s worth noting that this will affect authorised dealers and general consumers for the foreseeable future, which is likely to push the price of similar products up while supply dwindles.

The manufacturer cited the global shortage of memory as one of the reasons for its decision, alongside “other factors”. It’s suspected these may include a lack of helium caused by the war in Iran, which is beginning to impact chipmakers.
Last week Sony also announced enormous price hikes to the PS5, pointing to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape” as the cause.
