@Wazeddie22 Aww, thank you my friend. Means a lot. Sorry you have to go through the hospital stuff, too. It really isn’t nice at all. I’ve had multiple surgeries and always end up with a complication of some sort.
I was planning to finish Final Fantasy XVI last weekend, but I had a severe Crohn’s flair-up on the Sunday and ended up in hospital needing IV meds. Once I returned home, I managed to put a couple hours in, but on Thursday, I tested positive for Covid and now I feel like I’ve been hit by a train.
It feels like I’m cursed at this point, but in the unlikely event that I am able to play something, I’ll definitely put that time into wrapping up FF16, which by the way, is easily my favourite game of the entire year so far. I’m not saying it’s a 10/10, but it isn’t far off either.
After more than 60 joyous hours of play, I’ll be finishing up Final Fantasy XVI this weekend. It’s now comfortably overtaken Tears of the Kingdom as my personal Game of the Year. Absolutely brilliant. Though I should stress that I haven’t yet played Baldur’s Gate 3.
@MS7000 Same goes with Remedy’s Alan Wake II, which is digital only. Also hoping Baldur’s Gate 3 will get a physical release at some point. Either that or someone like LRG picks them up.
Nice review, @gbanas92 but I don’t really think this one is for me. I had the chance to play it on XSX via Game Pass and I didn’t bother, so that tells me something.
I watched that particular episode with my wife. Even she answered it correctly! I was thinking about letting you guys know, but @BlaizeV beat me to it. Good on ya, buddy! You’d be surprised by how many gaming-centric questions are featured on Tipping Point, but they’re usually related to Mario and Sonic.
While this update isn’t anything particularly major, I do think it’s a bit of a slap in the face for those of us who bought Cuphead – and it’s DLC! – on PS4 and Switch.
I’m guessing a lot of people will be very happy with The Callisto Protocol arriving on Plus.
It’s such a gorgeous game, but it disappointed fans with its lacklustre critical reception, putting most off of buying it. Being available at no extra cost will offer the chance to at least check it out, and I think going in with low(ish) expectations, most will be pleasantly surprised.
Lots more Final Fantasy XVI for me this weekend. I’m also itching to start VII Remake once I’ve wrapped up my XVI playthrough.
I also never got around to finishing Spider-Man Remastered, which I got in the pack-in with Miles Morales, so I really must get that sorted before Spider-Man 2 drops next month. I know I really should be prioritising Spider-Man, but I’m on such a Final Fantasy tip right now.
No way I’m ever getting rid of the beep! I’ve an emotional attachment that means within a few short moments of hearing that iconic sound, I’ll be mentally stimulated by playing a great game. It’s always been like my PS3/4/5 saying ’Hey man, I’m here. What are we playing?’
Excellent news that it’s getting a physical release! I’ve been really looking forward to this ever since the initial reveal. Stellar Blade always made me wonder what a next-gen Bayonetta could look like on Nintendo’s next machine. Not really expecting it to stick to that 2023 release window, but with all the great games I’ve still yet to get around to, that’s no big problem.
@Boucho11 There were times when I was thinking ’Man, this is a 10/10 game’, but then there were also times when I thought ’I don’t like Aloy, and the story is awful’. On the whole, it’s a 7/10 game for me. Glad I stuck with it and finished it though.
I’m playing Final Fantasy XVI this weekend. I’m late to the party as I was wrapped up in Tears of the Kingdom for three months, but I’m already 20hrs in and loving it so far. For me, it’s right up there with TOTK as my favourite game of the year so far. I may even like it a bit better.
@Impossibilium Me too! I’m doing the exact same thing and I’m so glad I waited so long to start this one. As soon as patch 2.0 drops, I’m in. Well, if I’ve finished Final Fantasy XVI by then, that is!
After finally finishing Tears of the Kingdom a couple weeks back (it only took me 285 hours!) I’m now knee deep in the incredible Final Fantasy XVI and loving every last second of it.
Honestly, I thought nothing could possibly challenge the latest Zelda as my personal Game of the Year, but I’m delighted to say that FF16 is, at the very minimum, giving TOTK a proper run for its money. I’m loving how much more story focused this game is, and the combat is in a different league altogether. What a truly fantastic game!
@themightyant Yeah, I’ve been subscribed to Ryan’s YouTube channel since the Vita days (2012 I think) and agree with you entirely. Mystic’s weekly LTPS (Let’s Talk PlayStation) segments are great and he certainly isn’t in the business of trying to get clicks or begging for likes. I respect the guy.
After taking three months and nearly 300 hours to beat Tears of the Kingdom on Switch, I finally got around to starting Final Fantasy XVI this weekend. I’m only ten hours in, but it’s absolutely incredible. What I find more incredible, however, is the fact that it’s not in the top 40 this week. I don’t quite understand why it isn’t selling more.
Do we know if Baldur’s Gate 3 will have a physical edition on PS5, or is it digital only?
[EDIT] I just found another post here on Push Square from last week, stating there will be a physical release in Japan, but apparently not over here in the UK or Europe and North America, etc.
@Juanalf It doesn’t even do that, since it only streams via WiFi. At least the Wii U used Bluetooth or whatever. I never had any issues with the Wii U gamepad, but Remote Play is awful in my experience. Games seem to run at like 20fps. And even then, I get constant dips and stuttering. Such a shame.
I skipped it and simply caught up on all the announcements here. It sounds like it was an okay show I guess, but I’m certainly glad I didn’t waste my time by watching it.
After almost 300 hours and three months of playing nothing but this one game, I finally beat Tears of the Kingdom on Switch yesterday, which means I can go back and finish the wonderful Resident Evil 4 remake. I’ve also got Final Fantasy XVI still sitting in its shrink wrap, begging to be set free!
Guys, whatever you do, don’t skip out on Death’s Door. It’s incredible. One of the few games that I actually went to the bother of grabbing the Platinum trophy. It’s just so fun. Especially if you’re a fan of the top down Zelda’s!
@deathaxe I wish you all the luck in the world with your surgery, buddy. As someone who’s had nine major ops, including having parts of my small bowel removed, I can truly emphasise with you. If you ever want to chat, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
My favourite PS5 game of the year so far is easily Resident Evil 4 for me. It looked absolutely gorgeous and was so much fun to play through such a timeless campaign. After that, it’s probably Street Fighter 6 and the hugely underrated Octopath Traveler II.
Though, for clarity, I should say that I’ve not yet played FF16 or Diablo IV. Both of which could crack my top three.
I wasn’t expecting this until August, so I’m over the moon that I can upgrade Dead Cells to the PS5 version for free this very week. With incredible combat, gorgeous pixel art and constant developer support, this is my all-time favourite indie game and now, following on from the recent Return to Castlevania DLC, I have a whole new reason to dive back in!
With Rogue Legacy 2 finally coming to PS5, I’m waiting patiently for that. In the meantime? I’ll be checking out the Final Fantasy XVI demo and playing more Tears of the Kingdom on Switch.
@dark_knightmare2 They can’t complete here in the UK, but the CMA can’t stop one American company from buying another American company. At least that’s my understanding. It would mean Microsoft would have to jump over various hurdles, such as not offering ABK titles on Game Pass in the UK, for example, but from what I’ve heard, the deal certainly isn’t dead yet.
And just for info, I’m a PlayStation (and Nintendo) fan who owns an Xbox for games like Forza and Starfield, etc that are exclusive to that platform. I genuinely don’t care if they do the deal or not. I’m just looking at it from a purely neutral perspective.
@__jamiie Yeah, I thought that’s what you meant, but I figured I’d clear it up just in case. Despite the CMA decision, I think Microsoft will still complete the deal and future games in the series will be Xbox/PC exclusive.
Oh and you’re absolutely right by the way, whoever gave this game a 1 is being absurd. No game deserves a 1/10. And certainly not Diablo IV.
@__jamiie Even if Microsoft do acquire Activision Blizzard, they won’t be able to take Diablo IV away from PlayStation as the game released before any potential deal closes. It’s like when they bought Bethesda, but Sony still got Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo for their respective twelve month exclusivity periods. Diablo V though? That’s a whole other story.
I’ve bought Dead Cells and every DLC on both PS4 and Switch, and I absolutely adore the game. It’s hands down my favourite indie ever made, and I’m excitedly looking forward to seeing what Motion Twin and Evil Empire do with the game in the next year or two.
I’m also just two trophies away from getting the Platinum, but one of them is beating the final boss with the cursed sword – meaning you can’t take a single hit. I’ll get it one of these days!
Really enjoyed the first one (I even bought the Game of the Year edition with all the DLC bundled in), so I’ll definitely be picking this one up, too. Hugely underrated racer, this.
Yes! Dead Cells is my favourite indie ever made and I have it on every console. Sure hoping we get a free PS5 upgrade for the digital PS4 version. If not, I’ll just buy it for the fourth time! I’ve got hundreds of hours in this.
I haven’t switched my PS5 on since Tears of the Kingdom released, but I can’t wait to find out what there is to look forward to once I’ve finished it. Really excited for the showcase and I’ll be watching live on Wednesday for sure!
@LittleToyTitan I’m the same. I’m only a couple chapters from the end of Resident Evil 4, but I literally cannot put Tears of the Kingdom down. It’s just that good. I wasn’t really feeling it pre-release, but I picked it up anyway, and now it really has its hooks in me.
Cleanliness is next to managerliness! I remember that episode. Yes, I’m a 49yr old man!
Regarding the game.. I love PowerWash Simulator. I’ve sunk 70hrs into it and I’m still going. I never even thought I’d like it before I actually decided to give it a go.
@Quintumply People who like PowerWash Simulator, SpongeBob, or both. That’s definitely me on both counts.
@PenguinLtd I’m super addicted to PowerWash Simulator, too. I know I should be playing Tears of the Kingdom, but I can’t stop myself from washing crap off of stuff. I’m 70hrs in and still powering through!
I beat HFW within a couple months of release and really enjoyed the 60ish hours I put into the game. It’s a solid 8/10 game for me, but not quite in the same league as the stellar God of War Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima. If the Burning Shores DLC reviews well enough, I’ll be sure to pick it up and dive back in, but for the time being, I’m in no rush.

’$ony's at it again’.
Agreed.
And I used that word as it has GREED in it. Just like Sony.

Finally. I may well pick it up when the physical edition releases. It’ll go nicely next to RDR2.

Judging by the critical reception of both the 2.0 update and its Phantom Liberty DLC, Cyberpunk 2077 is deserving of that fifteen place jump to sixth.

That D-pad looks horrible!

Seriously, I’ve bought all the FromSoft games and plenty of non-From Soulslikes, but I always seem to get stuck a few hours in.
