Re: 'I Don't Think Prompting Is Art': The Last of Us Co-Creator Isn't a Fan of Generative AI

TheArt

"It’s difficult to even pitch the concept of this creature, because in my world, NPCs are AI," Straley says.

Yep, in the video game world npcs have always been AI.

In most open worlds I've always thought repeated faces with different skin tones and facial hair are the "bad" AI generated. I quite remember Guerilla saying Horizon uses some procedurally generated environment, isn't that AI....apart from replicating voice actors or concept artists which would be wrong, I feel games have always been using AI in some form...

Re: The Game Awards Keeps On Getting More and More Popular

TheArt

A lot more people have faster Internet now and can watch on YT without no bufferings. Plus sites like PushSquare showing us when and what different local times it was going to broadcast made me tune in, back in the day it'd just slip my mind.

And btw Clair sweeping it all making it look like no other games were released this year, when people thought this was going to be a tough year for awards...winning indie...Shadow of the Erdtree being in the goty list back in '24 among other things has made the scheme questionable. You don't have a best DLC category yet a lot of us don't even know what the Games for Impact award is.

Re: Talking Point: With Expedition 33 Winning Best Indie Game, What Does 'Indie' Mean to You?

TheArt

@Flaming_Kaiser πŸ˜† 80% of the time when people talk like this it means they haven't played KCD2 or had the patience to progress to a quarter of the game πŸ˜†. I fackn love Clairrr Obscurrr no lie, I was done in 111hrs trying to explore everywhere. KCD2 however, I'm still playing and yet to beat it, in terms of depth...I dunno where to start from. Nothing like sitting down in your room, reading books and increasing stats in various skills. Nothing like dressing like a nobleman and people believing any BS you tell them. It's just too much, you need to play it bro.

Re: Monster Hunter Wilds' Mega Title Update 4 Out Now on PS5

TheArt

Wondering if the difficulty is tweaked back to what we know - not being too easy or too difficult.

@8bit4Life I also still don't get the hype with multiplayer, I'm fine soloing with my palico. Wilds and Rise let's you call npc companions which makes it realistic but even so I don't really use them.

Re: Expedition 33 Breaks the Game Awards Record for Most Gongs in a Single Show

TheArt

@Korgon You can just head into KCD2 first, cause the KCD1 is a bit too hardcore, reason why it went under the radar. The 2nd is more accessible but still a bit hardcore for your average gamer, you can tell most journos in a hurry won't give it the time of day which is a shame, hence the easy sweep for Clair. But play yourself and you'd realise objectively it's the better RPG.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 611

TheArt

Back on E33 to check out that new update. Really nice and even more artistic and nice music, I must say the Photo Mode is one of the best especially with the filters. Still KCD2 deserved RPGotY, it's the same sentiment across the Internet. Got robbed by a couple of bandits, my Henry was nice to them and tricked them into showing him their hideout to learn skills on thievery. Went back days later under the cover of night, knocked out the bandit leader who still had my coin on him, took it along with some valuables. On my way back it was morning, went back to village to check up on a woman I had saved in a forest some time ago. I mean this kind of immersion...tsk I'm just convinced most journalists didn't bother with KCD2, the steep learning curve at the beginning can easily throw you off, but then what sort of games journo does that make you...

Re: All The Game Awards 2025 Winners

TheArt

@Reyzore True, it had a lot of good narrative backing it and there was no stopping the train. Funny how journalists said awards for this year was going to be difficult cause there's been so many great games yet Obscur came to sweep it all.

Re: All The Game Awards 2025 Winners

TheArt

@themightyant "KCD2 is great if you like that, but to many it's too hardcore, too impenetrable hence not as good as Expedition 33 to those voting."

Yep so Monster Hunter went easy with Wilds and people are complaining. I guess it was the situation with Souls games in the past and now they're giving Miyazaki his flowers.

Re: All The Game Awards 2025 Winners

TheArt

@themightyant " I'd agree it is RPG-lite compared to something like KCD2 which is about as dense as you'll get."

Yep, reason why most were expecting KCD2 to win RPG of the Year.

Re: 'It's a Huge Upgrade': PS5 Pro Poised to Improve Massively in 2026

TheArt

@gamepadnomad if someone reeeaaallly wants to play GTA6 and can't justify the Pro price tag, they'd definitely get the base PS5 just to play and double dip on the PS6. But then again we talk like those people who want to play GTA6 haven't bought the console already in anticipation. Who's to say the PS5 outselling all other consoles recently isn't in preparation for GTA6.

Re: 'The Fans' Voices Gave Us Power': Monster Hunter Wilds Dev Admits to Difficulties After Awards Show Win

TheArt

Wilds is top 3 for me this year maybe because I started playing in October and looks to be filled with content. Yeah a bit easy but I tried Miztsune and looks hard, I think they can EASILY tweak it to be hard but maybe they wanted it more accessible to attract new players. They heard Elden Ring is the most accessible (when it's actually not that easy) so why not, let's make Wilds the easiest MH 😁. Still, I enjoy it a lot and believe it's one of the finest games ever made in the way animations, graphics and monsters. I don't think any other game does monsters lifelike like MH.

Re: PS5's Biggest Game Fortnite Accused of Using AI Art

TheArt

This thing right now is getting confusing. Where do we draw the line...should we have been protesting in the past when MS Office took over typewriters, where you could select font styles with all of kinds of editing tools. Or when artists were/are using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop tools. If AI is also a tool then...the only thing that annoys me is fake AI photos and videos on social media. But in a video game, a virtual world...feels like there's no stopping it, devs are going to use it. Heck AI has already been a part of video games more than any other media since forever, how enemies, npcs behave.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 609

TheArt

Was just investigating what happened to an ambushed merchant who had an item I was looking for. Found a mill nearby, thought I'd ask the inhabitants a few questions instead they greeted me with weapons, had to make a run for it and come back in the night to sneak. In a barn, found some tortured people lying motionless, still sneaking, came across hostages tied in an attic who said they were the actual owners of the mill and that it had been overtaken by bandits. The Miller asked me to take care of the bandits and come for a reward, at the same time I had to find that item that got me there in the first place. These chain of events, one thing leading to another in a simple side quest is what makes KCD2 so great. Might sound simple but words can't really describe, you need to be in Henry's shoes and feel the high immersion. And there are more like this. I'll be playing the hard to put down MH Wilds also, some Skyrim and whatever else I feel like.

Re: Video: All the PS5 Games We Think Are 10/10

TheArt

I feel Clairrr is a 9, KCD2 is definitely 10. What we did in Semine alone....with Von Bergow's men...no game has made me feel this bad since TLOU2, story wise, and that was even on the side not the main plot, it's crazy. With Clairrr it got to a point I kinda lost interest in all that family drama.
