@Titntin "But I dont care, I dislike the disparate eco systems, windows constant nagging and just about everything about pc gaming." then that's a purely subjective preference of yours and while I can respect that, you should realize that it's ultimately something fairly trivial for most people (indeed for many having competing ecosystems is seen as a plus though I'm agnostic towards it) and if you have a PC of that calibre (I have a 3090 too and my CPU is a comparable i9-11900k), I strongly doubt that you'd be running into issues like having a startup time of more than 30 seconds. Any imagined inconveniences flowing from these are entirely something that's unique to your psychology and quirks but hey there's nothing wrong with that, just don't think that most others would find such things to be that much of an annoyance.
As for talking about sitting back and enjoying a 4K60fps experience, you should be able to churn a heck lot more than just with those specs that if you have a 4K144Hz monitor (I have an Asus PG43UQ which is pretty much a medium-sized TV and I set it up as if it's a TV in my living room). You write as if bad PC ports are 1. norms and 2. perform worse than consoles when out of the hundreds of multiplatform games I've played, not even the worst optimized games performed or looked anywhere near to what are on the consoles, especially if one has the high calibre PCs like we two do, and that a lot of efforts are needed to play the game when almost all the games I've played already automatically adjust the settings for you before, and even if you aren't happy, adjusting a few sliders doesn't take more than a few minutes if it even comes down to that, certainly not the "tinkering" you've claimed here. You're frankly engaging in molehill mountaineering to back yourself up, and frankly I've never done any of the optional things that a typical PCMR elitist would want a PC gamer to do, and indeed I myself am quite sick and tired of the whole PCMR nonsense, just that what you wrote here is pretty much a 'you problem' thing as opposed to something that's common or actual annoyances for most people in PC gaming.
I do not have a problem with you choosing to game on a console despite having such a powerful PC, and indeed you aren't the first such person I met. I do however have to disagree with you talking about what are frankly very trivial non-issues that can only be problematic if you have very particular subjective preferences, or praise a non-existent advantage that consoles allegedly have over PCs like gaming on TV and couch when PCs can already do that for ages. Anything that makes you refuse to set up your PC for gaming in this manner is entirely on YOU, not the platform as a whole. I've taken my PCs (and consoles) to hotels on long stays and it took literally the same amount of time setting up for either. I do get that people can have counterintuitive subjective preferences all the time - I do as well, but it's another to describe them as if they are objective advantages which they clearly aren't, and doing these when you've had professional involvement in the industry makes everything much much worse.
@Titntin No offence but something tells me that you haven't really played anything on that PC (assuming that you do indeed own it), and it's 2022 so the whole "sitting on the couch and play" thing is a non-argument, and 'optimum settings' is frankly a laughable joke considering that most games would be able to gauge them for you based on your PC's specs. It's okay if you're this used to gaming on a console that you straight up refuse to use the PC for gaming or set it up with your TV, but if I were you and if I have no other uses for the PC like content creation, CG, CAD/CAE work then I'd either let another member of the family to use it or sell it.
“as opportunities have increased for users to go outside due to a reduction in COVID-19 infections in key markets” - nah it's just that many people and their governments in these key markets have stopped caring.
Just learn ZBrush, buy the software and get/rent a 3D printer, although this will come off at around the same price tag but you can make far more stuff than just this.
That's sooner than expected but I just hope that the game's properly optimized this time round. I played Fallen Order on PC but looking at the console versions' benchmarks and it was urgh, and it'll be a shame if an otherwise good game is to be held back by its technical flaws again.
OK I live in GMT+8 which is currently the world's most populous time zone (yes I know India will have the world's biggest population next year) so I guess the first platinum trophy will have to be a no no for me.
@ATaco I don't have sympathies for the victim myself but this is still a shocking news that can lead to nasty developments down the road, and spreading rumours like this can actually get more people hurt or even killed in real life. Some unhinged extremist can easily take such speculations to be fact and start attacking people he judged to be guilty, and the rest will be history.
I'm stoked now. I can never say no to new Hitman maps and even less so for free ones. As a PC gamer I consider this a welcome gesture to patch up the wounds they've caused with the flawed launch on the platform.
@Zombie9ers While I'm certain that Ragnarok will be at minimum a great game, and I'm planning on getting it, I'm actually more interested in Skulls and Bones because it seems more replayable and actually tried stepping out of the usual genre formulae a bit.
@Ravix While it's certainly true that UbiSoft should innovate their franchises somewhat, like you I never get bending the sticks completely the other way either. Although none of their games suck me in particularly, whenever I do pick up their games and play I do genuinely quite enjoy the times I spent in them. It feels like UbiSoft games are just convenient punching bags for some gamers to show that they have 'good tastes' but when you ask for what games they DO play, they always feel a little embarrassed.
I actually like the fact that Horizon's afterglow is so enduring. So many people were eager to hate on the game because "haha SJWs owned!" or "no no must protecc Elden Ring's place on the podium!" in the first month of the game's release and it's good to see the game proving these haters wrong.
This is quite a change from the days when XBox fanboys were mocked for their "Wait till E3!" and "Wait till Gamescom!" comments in gaming discussion spaces.
@nessisonett The distinctions aren't always that clear, and extensive involvement by the military and the intel agencies in entertainment and vice versa has always been documented.
Hot take: a lot of game companies that make our most played franchises today are from countries that have been the most responsible for wars and sanctions that cause millions of deaths anyway so if you never had problems with those, especially since a lot of these games actually GLORIFY these acts (looking at you CoD games), then I don't see why I should join the chorus of denunciations here even though I'm not particularly positively disposed towards MBS myself. All I care is that good games are being made and the developers are treated well, and I don't have to fork out large amounts of money.
I actually want the transition to exclusive 9th Gen development to happen as soon as possible. The PS4 still has a massive library of games and I don't think anyone who buys a legacy system at this stage is doing so with the intent of playing the latest games first and foremost. Those who wish to buy a PS5 would be able to do so since the supply issues are getting sorted.
Time to rediscover the charm of this game. The last time I played any Uncharted was the Lost Legacy nearly five years back, and this time I want to play it using the XBox Elite Series 2 controller.
Currently replaying it on PC - with an XBox controller no less. It's holding up brilliantly though some of the action cutscenes are a tad too gimmicky for me now. Art direction and gameplay execution remain top notch however, and the raw power of my PC definitely gave the game several additional years to its youth.
The harsh reality is that it's over as far as future CoD games are concerned. Warzone will still be available for the foreseeable future though. Personally this won't affect me since I'm mostly a PC gamer now, but at this stage Sony will have to make a big purchase of their own just to survive.
@nessisonett Also I want more main characters with depth. It felt like all of HZD's characters are rather flat when comes to their personalities and especially moralities, only Sylens truly had any depth and I hope Guerrilla doesn't kill this guy off in FW.
@nessisonett Deathloop has made me really appreciate smaller, more compact but much better designed game worlds again, and I don't think I've felt the same for a long time since Deus Ex Mankind Divided.
I was quite surprised at the actual winner but I'm glad that a game that deviated somewhat from the usual GOTY template has won this time. Shame about Ratchet though but I'm a girl on Team Colt and I've glad that Deathloop has racked up some heavy awards.

Re: Reaction: Activision Blizzard Buyout Is Devastating for PS5, PS4

The only upside is that Acti-Blizz games will now have to go on Steam.
On a serious note, I think there'll be tons of antitrust lawsuits coming in...
Failing this, Sony has no other choice but to buy something big on its own now. Either Square Enix or Ubi-Soft will be needed at the minimum.
