Also, I feel like the DLCs and any other games set in the FF7R universe(s) will most certainly involve going into the alternate worlds, and I can see one centered upon Zack and potentially Aerith too, with the former essentially becoming a Crisis Core II of sorts.
@rjejr How the third game of the Retrilogy will link to (in Kitase's exact words) Advent Children will still be open tbh, and with all the new plot devices introduced AC will have to be substantially retconned at least if it's still to be a chronological sequel to the Retrilogy.
@LifeGirl Sorry for necro'ing but I came back to this after diving into all kinds of crazy fan theories of FF7 Rebirth's ending, and I now conclude that what Nomura's saying here most likely refers to how SPOILER ALERT
Biggs had died in Zack's Terrier reality, than what's presumed to have happened to Aerith. Nomura's playing an emotional sleight of hand here and I must say, he's done it well.
I'm not going into the politics here but I do hope that the developers will be able to finish their game at a time when peace has returned to the country. FYI the first two Metro games were made at a time when Russia and Ukraine were still on good terms.
@NEStalgia I get a feeling that the game will offer some unfavourable revelations against the Kuwaiti side too which won't sit well with them, and these can include lateral drilling into Iraqi oilfields and atrocity propaganda claiming Iraqi soldiers having chugged out babies from incubators. Much like the 'poor little Belgium' and today's Ukraine, the Kuwaiti side wasn't all innocent either.
I love how this game has become a battlefront for DEI-vs-GamerGater cultural, anti-vs-pro-China political and XBox-vs-PlayStation console fanboy wars simultaneously.
I actually agree with this article. For the past five years it just suddenly became popular to bash Sony's first party games for no apparent good reason even though there's a valid critique towards the exclusive focus on third person action adventure, but I cannot but to feel like that Sony's 1st Party games became the kind of convenient punching bags for a breed of gamers to show their edgy tastes in the ways the CoD and sports games were.
I for one predict that this game will get a PS5 port next year or so. Since MS' starting to port their smaller games to the PS5 for more revenue then Hellblade II is a perfect candidate. Just to state too that I once again I no dogs left in the console fanboy wars space since I'm back to being PC only now.
@wiiware It'll be 4K 144fps locked for me, especially for a game of this nature. Anything that involves flying around need to be at least triple digits in framerates at least.
I left the UK years ago after completing my studies and while I've had many memories with this shop (not necessarily all pleasant ones of course), I did see this coming after seeing one GAME branch after another in the neighbourhood closing, and that was well before my graduation.
You can express your legitimate criticisms of Mary Jane's writing and design in the video game without harassing the person without the actual power to influence either. You can go after her if she has done a bad job acting out the script (which she didn't, far from it) but even if she has, harassment is wrong.
I have my own critiques of the post-2018 evolution of the franchise, most notably in the TLOUization of certain gameplay segments, but to say that it's 'lost its way' is just absurd and he sounds like he's just struggling for relevance after last making a great game some two decades ago.
Honestly if HP's censored on the grounds that its creator has made remarks that can be (quite correctly) interpreted as transphobic, then honestly I think CoD should have been cancelled much harder for promoting wars and militarism that kill many times more people irl.
PS4 (and the XB1) were meh hardware wise, but as far as games go I'd say that the 8th gen in general and the PS4's library in particular were rather over-maligned. Not exactly spectacular but it's still a memorable generation. I just hope that PS5's late game (puns totally intended) will be as strong, if not stronger than, the start of this generation.
@Darth_Stofi Bro you had two years to enjoy it before anyone else. Time to move on. If you're upset that others can play the same games as you did two years ago then you need to consult a psychiatrist. I own a PS5 btw.
God here we go with all the sanctimony about dIcTaToRs who apparently own the game companies again. All I care is that the game at the end is a good one and brings me back memories from when I was very little and being taken to arcades by my elder cousins. Most Western AAA game companies have ties to the most warmongering entity on Earth the US MIC too yet I don't think we'll be hearing calls to boycott CoD anytime soon.
@Savage_Joe Sorry but if you have troubles saving up 500 bucks over the course of a console generation and more then frankly you should worry about other things in your life than modern core gaming. Gaming is a luxury hobby and should take low priority. I had to ditch gaming a few times in my life when my finances were tight.
@practicein2021 Well I'm mainly a PC gamer girl so there's that but the few exclusives the PS5 still has as well as will have should be able to justify me turning it on for at least a year or so.
@practicein2021 Lol just because I put it in my bio doesn't mean that I'm gonna be discussing that here unless there's an article that's actually relevant, but in summary we have a wide variety of them so there's no central definition for that one. Anyways relevant to the article itself, I hope that Sony pulls a ninth gen equivalent of E3 2016 asap, as I do still want to see my PS5 getting some action down the road once I finish my backlog.
I'm a slow gamer and I've only bought a PS5 recently to play through the exclusives' backlog, so I can do with a dry season for the console actually. My main platform is my PC anyway.
Ooof I only bought this game along with my PS5 a few days ago but I'm happy to swallow the L and buy the PC port too while keeping the physical copy as a souvenir. I guess I shouldn't be buying any PS5 exclusives released earlier than 2022 from now on. Can't wait to experience this game with all the bells and whistles when it hits Steam less than two months later.
@Ashina Tbf since the stock situation's improved now and that the prices have returned to normal, and if you still can't afford to buy a current gen system in the third year of the generation, you probably have other matters in your life that need working on if you can't afford to save 500 bucks over an entire console generation and more.
Back to the topic, I think this is a very wise move and unless your game's not visuals-heavy, you shouldn't worry much about legacy systems from now on.
My PS5 only just arrived today and this is my welcome party? Well I guess the solace to take from this is that I have ample time to finish my PS5 exclusives' backlog.
Great to see game development outside the traditional US-Europe-Japan bloc getting more exposure. Once the India HP takes off, I also want to see Hero Projects in Africa.
@Orpheus79V Other than putting all the parts together initially, I've not had any 'extra fuss' that actually got on my nerves on my PC. 99% of the time the games pick the best settings for you and moving a few sliders on top of that never took me more than a minute, the vast performance and visual boost, the freedom of using any controllers etc more than make up for the few additional seconds I spent on these 'extra fuss'.
@KaijuKaiser I agree. We really an E3 2016-tier roadmap showcase for the PS5 at this stage. We're basically approaching the midgame of this console generation and the late game matters at least as much as, if not more than the first half.
@palmab It's 2023, IGN is the fairest game reviewer who disregard non-gaming related agendas and EA's releasing bangers that aren't tainted by microtransactions? I'm liking this timeline.
I've gone to the one place where the aggregate reviews I'd consider to be trustworthy: Steam user feedback, and it's very positive, so that's sold for me. Sorry NAFOs.
