@maamets it'd be fantastic for remote play. Highly doubt any of this really warrants reading too much into though, it's too late in the day for Sony to be looking at things like this. They could release a new Vita with PS4 quality graphics and sell it for £50 throwing in a date with Emma Stone on the side, and it would still sell poorly as Sony would market it diabolically. At the end of the day the Vita has carved out it's little niche, and it doesn't look like it's going to expand any time soon. Unfortunately, I've got to say I think Sony would be mad to release another revision to it at this stage. If they did then it'd have to be truly special to stand a chance in the current Nintendo/mobile dominated handheld market :/
I wonder if any of them realised that from now on, every time the game is mentioned in the abbreviated form, it will have the word "TWAT" slap bang in the middle of it. Great marketing...
This would be good news as far as I'm concerned - no more having to bring the PS3 downstairs to watch stuff from Channel 4! Surprising though, as I was under the impression sony and C4 had some sort of falling out, which was why 4oD was on PS3 but never made it to PS4. It's also not on Sony TVs (or certainly the more recent Bravias) to the best of my knowledge, so maybe that'll change too!
Oh man, I have a week booked off work at the start of June, but I already have Dragon Age which I'm hardly anywhere in, and also want to get up to date in FFXIV before the Heavensward release! Might just pick up Bloodborne and smash it out in a week. That or I'll use the time to catch up on things like LoTR:SoM, Wolfenstein, Alien etc. Either way, sadly, I don't see the Witcher getting my time any time soon
@LetsGoRetro Hate to burst your bubble, but there's almost no chance of any of those other than TOZ releasing this year. Shame really, as it's FFXV and KH3 that excite me the most. Oh well, not played a Tales game in years so might go back and try the Xillia games as they seem fairly popular, maybe that will increase my interest in this
Hmm, I'd always written these off without giving it much thought, but it seems I may have to investigate after all. Should be pretty cheap in CEX now too!
Ah man every day I come a little closer to buying this, especially as I can get it on finance from Very and only pay £15 a month for 3 months, but I still haven't really gotten far yet with the last big game I bought (FF Type-0) and feel like I should really finish that first!
@get2sammyb (and others that have played it) one question I have - is the story told through cutscenes (ie with a higher level of graphic detail) or is the whole thing in engine? I've not watched much footage, but there are some screenshots I've seen that look absolutely jaw-dropping and I'm interested to know if that is consistent across the whole experience. I know it's all about the gameplay, but looking good is always a bonus!
@Flurpsel really? Not that I didn't like my Shep by the end of it, but I strangely never actually grew that attached, same with DA:I come to think of it. I think it's because the degree of choices on offer makes Sheperd's actions seem to be mine, and of course I'm already attached to me but I never really think of it like that. Shepherd to me is really just more of an avatar, a conduit for my choices in the game, and it's the other characters you interact with that I actually found myself more attached to over time.
Either way I agree with the general point that the cast was cracking, and will be very difficult to top!
@themcnoisy the quality of that one is irrelevant - everybody knows you're not a truly great franchise until you've pumped out a shameless Mario Kart clone!
Starting to get a bit tired of the recent trend of dev/publisher d*ck-swinging without any evidence to actually substantiate their claims. Talk is cheap without anything to back it up - I could talk until I'm blue in the face about how I'm hung like Ron Jeremy, but that doesn't necessarily make it true!
To be fair to Bioware, I expect this probably is looking great, but to be honest I'm just not interested any more unless there's something to show!
He quite clearly is still being fired though, just not until after completion of the game. I thought that was the general idea of what she said before, and this is just a case of quibbling over semantics. Really, just because he's still there now doesn't mean that he hasn't been fired, just that he's been given until the completion of TPP before he is out. It's basically the same thing.
@themcnoisy sorry to say it but I gotta disagree man, yeah they're not all great, but cutting yourself off from all but the main offline series will leave you seriously missing out. Dissidia, Theatrhythm and FFXIV:ARR are all absolutely brilliant games!
Either way though I'm not sure I see what you mean about them being "damaging" for the franchise. I mean, particularly games like Dissidia and Theatrhythm, they're not meant to have plots on par with the main series, and when it comes down to it they're pretty much just celebrations of FF over the ages whilst experimenting in different genres. If anything the, FFXIII sequence of games have done far more damage to the series and its reputation than any spinoff could ever do.
@xMEADx just because the people you know haven't played something doesn't mean it's not a good game - game of the month should be solely about the quality of a title, not the sales figures. The fact that a large number of people haven't played a great game doesn't make it any less great, it just means that those people might be missing out on something awesome!
@rockman29 the only one I've played was Return to Castle Wolfenstein on PS2 (great game), and I'm fairly sure I remember jumping out of my skin when a flaming Nazi zombie burst out of a wall next to me!
Need to pick up The New Order at some point as it looks great fun and is dirt cheap now!
Yeah all in all I'd say if it adds valid replay value then it can't really ever be a bad thing. I've just started up FFX-2 on the Vita, and can definitely see myself needing to complete a second runthrough to get the 100% complete trophy for that!
I'll be all over this, just as soon as I put the finishers on Transistor (so, a while then as I'm still too busy with FF Type-0 at the moment). I did just start FFX-2 on Vita though, so I may wait until I'm done with that before I pick this up, as I think I'm going to want to primarily play Bastion on the Vita!
Giving vague teasers for new reveals before the actual full reveal itself has been common practice for years now. I love how people get so worked up and angry, just because it's SE pulling the strings.
If Rockstar had been behind this exact same thing, people would be climbing the walls with excitement...
@sonicmeerkat but at the same time, "sexual assault" doesn't just constitute one act. It's a whole spectrum of things, and i think it's fair to say groping still comes under that. Idk, maybe "harassment" would've been more the appropriate term to use. But I don't think by that he was trying to trivialise the darker end of the spectrum, just make the point that groping someone is also not cool and not to be trivialised either.
But tbh that's by the by, I see his point and i see yours. Either way I think we're getting mildly off topic here!
@sonicmeerkat to be fair it does have dedicated "grope" functionality from what I read haha. Not saying he's right, as far as I'm concerned people should have full creative freedom when making a game, and if there's a market for it then why not. But I can at least see the point there haha
As I've said before, this will make a fantastic entry point for people who haven't owned a PS console before the PS4, so I do understand why they're making this.
But I really don't understand people who I've seen saying they're going to buy it, despite already having the PS3 version. There is only so much you can do to remaster a 13 nearly 14 year old game, and I really don't see that this is going to be any different from the PS3 version.
There's not even a valid point about buying to get the trophies again, because this was hands down the grindiest platinum I've ever gotten!
@Quorthon That's not even remotely what was being said. He quite clearly confers that he has no problem with the games industry, and that the fault is with the parents for their lack of awareness.
Personally I think this guy has a perfectly valid point, and it's basically what I was trying to get across in the article on the matter the other day (just far better written).
Wouldn't it be nice if the whole Kojima/Konami split turned out to be just one big prolonged April Fools joke, all in very bad taste. Unfortunately, I don't see that being the case :/
Only one that I'm particularly interested this month, which is Never Alone (glad I didn't buy it in the sale a month or two ago), but I'll definitely try the others all the same! Already got KZ Mercs and Dishonored, but I have to say these alone make it a pretty sweet lineup for people that don't!
Actually glad at the relative lack of games for me this month, as I still haven't finished Apotheon / Transistor / Oddworld from the last few months yet! I blame OlliOlli2, that game was just too tough to put down!
That said, I would potentially welcome an Uncharted film with Nathan Fillion as Drake. Because Mal Reynolds. Unfortunately, the director who was considering this then left the film, and then the person who subsequently took the helm had never heard of Fillion. That said, this gossip is now a few years old itself, so maybe there's hope yet!
Yep, I take all game to movie rumours with a mountain of salt. They're talked about until the end of time, but hardly ever seem to come to fruition (thankfully as far as I'm concerned). It's nice to see games slowly starting to become considered as art on the same level as movies are, but that doesn't mean all games suddenly need movies made of them.
Often the things that make great games translate badly to movies, and vice versa. Probably a large factor in the reasons why most of these tie ins that get reported never actually seem to get off the ground.
The lock on would be fine if it actually locked on. I'm certain mine was staying locked to whoever I'd targeted for the first hour or two, but after that it didn't matter who I'd locked on to, it would shift targets anyway! Once you've locked on, it should definitely only switch targets on death, or when you flick the right stick.
I need to start re-arranging my backlog priority to have any hope of catching up in time for Heavensward. Oh well, I'm planning on doing a month without drinking in April to help save some cash - hopefully an added benefit of not going out much will be more time to work on this!
@Cowboysfan-22 but that's not what this is about. This isn't about people complaining about the content of the game per se, rather just saying that it's not right for kids of a certain age to be playing it. And it seems this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I have to say I can see where they're coming from (albeit I agree this isn't the way to go about it).
Sorry, but in the same way that a responsible parent wouldn't sit their 6 year old down to watch Scarface and the Conjuring, they shouldn't let a child that age play games like GTA and Outlast.
Obviously, as a child gets older say, I guess really from about secondary school age onwards, it becomes less black and white as it is more a case of different children maturing at different rates, and yes I agree it should be more at the parent's discretion to decide what is suitable. HOWEVER, the real problem, and what should be the crux of the matter, is that most of these parents have no idea what is in the games they let their kids play.
As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing at all wrong with the actual content of games, provided that the person playing is mature enough for the content, same with any movie. The problem is a lot of parents being totally uneducated about what is actually in the games to begin with - many non-gaming parents remember the games of yore as blocky and tame, without realising that nowadays they can be equally as graphic or scary (and not suited for young children) as any live action film - and that is perhaps something that does need to change. These guys are going about it totally the wrong way, but there is a valid point buried in there somewhere.
Type-0 HD sales were never going to be sustainable. Masses of people flocked to it on opening week to get their hands on Episode Duscae, but from here on out I imagine sales to be poor outside of Japan.
To be honest I wonder how many people there are who have actually gone and bought it but don't even intend on using it for anything other than the demo. Shame really, as Type-0 really is rather enjoyable!
@get2sammyb on the positive side of things, I'm now playing it on remote play with 60fps and it runs like a dream, actually playing far better than on the big screen. But yeah, dad sad times all the same, nobody likes spoilers, and this was a big one Google should have a switch to remove all results containing them haha!
Just started typing "Type 0 remote play" in Google and half way through typing was slapped with a MAJOR spoiler thanks to the suggested searches. Brilliant.
Polished off pretty much everything in Episode Duscae this morning (all except the cherished frogs), and any other time this weekend will go on finishing Unity and getting truly stuck in to FF Type-0
Can't wait to get stuck in to this. Booked Thurs and Friday off work this week while my other half goes away, and getting a friend round for a proper non stop session!
@ztpayne7 if you've played the others then you really really owe it to yourself to play MGS3. I personally see it as best in series so far, and if you plan on playing MGSV, this and Peace Walker are pretty handy for getting the back stor!
@Superstick it is in all early physical copies of Type 0, as well as all digital copies. I honestly don't know why people seem to think it's with preorders only!
Well I've been in the "interested" camp on this one for a while now, and this certainly hasn't changed that. Not 100% convinced, but will definitely be giving it a go!
@ShogunRok Good job on the review! Main question from me is does the time management aspect ever become intrusive / overly limiting? And is there a sufficient system in place to ensure that you can go back and do bits that you missed later on (eg a removal of the time limit at certain times, or during endgame)?
@AyeHaley I gotta agree with @Gemuarto, this should be taken totally separately to FFXIII. It is a different creator, with totally separate characters, gameplay system, plot etc. Ok so it references l'Cie in it, but that's like saying it's the same as FFIX because they both refer to summons as Eidolons (on which basis I suppose FFVI and FFXII should be taken as being intrinsically linked too), which is just daft. Even being part of Fabula Nova Crystallis doesn't really mean anything - FFXII and FF Tactics A2 were both part of the Ivalice Alliance, but nothing of any real importance was shared between the two games at all.
Fair enough if you just genuinely don't like the look of the game. Each to their own. But I wouldn't go passing up on it just because you're tarring it with the same brush as FFXIII!
Finally picked up AC: Unity, so that's been my main focus over the last week. For all the criticism it received, I am thoroughly enjoying it and haven't seen any problems glitch-wise (presumably thanks to the patch). Certainly not the best in the series, but a good bit of fun all the same.
Outside of that OlliOlli 2 has got its claws in. I really didn't think I was going to be overly fussed about it, but man is it addictive once your skills slowly start to build!
@JesWood13 Sorry but how can you say it's a waste of money if you haven't even played of it. Your actions in refusing to play, rather than any facet of the game itself, are what currently makes that a waste of money. Play it and either a) confirm you don't enjoy it and then go on to make a valid complaint, or b) find that it actually pleasantly surprises you, and perhaps even go on to play the rest of the series. Regardless, until you play it you have kinda forfeit the right to complain - wasted money is nobody's fault but your own if you buy something but refuse to play it.
I've not played yet so I couldn't say either way as to the quality of the game. Just saying that you're only really cheating yourself if you've paid the cash and don't even give it a whirl.
@Jaz007 I'm not saying you're wrong, but I will say your argument here is flawed. Just because you've played a lot of a game doesn't make it any better. I could play Ride to Hell: Retribution for 92 hours but it would still be abominable!
And @kupo interesting - your game of the year last year is a game that didn't come out last year? Might wanna pick again haha interesting point about subjectivity though, although I'd argue that picking Destiny for GOTY is about as subjective as it gets, because if you take a purely objective look at that game and it's components, it's about as formulaic as it gets, with no particularly standout / innovative features. Again, doesn't mean it's bad but, objectively, GOTY material? I just don't see it.
(EDIT- goddamit, just realised lightning returns released later in the West than JP. You win this time haha!)
@rastamadeus yeah that's fair enough. I think for me it was more the fact that the story had so much potential it was a shame to see it get fumbled slightly. Either way it didn't really hurt the experience. And yeah thanks for that buddy, between your pointers and a couple more tips online I improved significantly and was able to make it through most of the rest of the game without any real issues!
One thing @NicolaHayden, are there any ties between this trilogy and the first in terms of plot? Only, seeing the details come out, the second trilogy seems a bit more up my street than the first one, so I'm thinking I might skip them!
@rastamadeus I don't know man, I really enjoyed the first game once I got to grips with it, but I still left it feeling like the story side of things could have been handled slightly better. The gameplay was brilliant, no argument there, but there were definitely aspects of the game that left room for improvement. Eager to see what this brings to the table!
@DHW been saying this for a while. Tbh it'd come out and either they'd not change much and people would complain about it not being up to date enough, or they'd bring it more in line with current gen gaming and people would moan it had been changed too much!
@Beta yeah FFXIV would be amazing, I was just thinking exactly that myself! Highly unlikely any time soon though. I do, however, think No Man's Sky is a lot more likely to end up supporting it. Sony would be mad not to try to help the guys at Hello Games get VR up and running - get that done right and just that one game will be shifting tons of PS4s and Morpheus all on its own!

Re: UK Sales Charts: Bloodborne Swings and Misses for the Top Spot
Type-0 HD sales were never going to be sustainable. Masses of people flocked to it on opening week to get their hands on Episode Duscae, but from here on out I imagine sales to be poor outside of Japan.
To be honest I wonder how many people there are who have actually gone and bought it but don't even intend on using it for anything other than the demo. Shame really, as Type-0 really is rather enjoyable!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 62
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 62
Just started typing "Type 0 remote play" in Google and half way through typing was slapped with a MAJOR spoiler thanks to the suggested searches. Brilliant.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 62
Polished off pretty much everything in Episode Duscae this morning (all except the cherished frogs), and any other time this weekend will go on finishing Unity and getting truly stuck in to FF Type-0
Re: Steins;Gate's El Psy Kongroo Edition Lets You Join the Science Club
Just finished watching the anime the other day. Slow to start, but once it picked up it really picked up! Definitely keeping an eye on this
Re: First Impressions: Final Fantasy XV Has Massive Potential
Can't wait to get stuck in to this. Booked Thurs and Friday off work this week while my other half goes away, and getting a friend round for a proper non stop session!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 61
@ztpayne7 if you've played the others then you really really owe it to yourself to play MGS3. I personally see it as best in series so far, and if you plan on playing MGSV, this and Peace Walker are pretty handy for getting the back stor!
Re: This Final Fantasy XV PS4 Video Absolutely Blew Us Away, But Beware of Demo Spoilers
@Superstick it is in all early physical copies of Type 0, as well as all digital copies. I honestly don't know why people seem to think it's with preorders only!
Re: PS4 Exclusive Everybody's Gone to the Rapture Slow Walks Through Shropshire
Well I've been in the "interested" camp on this one for a while now, and this certainly hasn't changed that. Not 100% convinced, but will definitely be giving it a go!
Re: Review: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (PlayStation 4)
@ShogunRok Good job on the review! Main question from me is does the time management aspect ever become intrusive / overly limiting? And is there a sufficient system in place to ensure that you can go back and do bits that you missed later on (eg a removal of the time limit at certain times, or during endgame)?
Re: Review: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD (PlayStation 4)
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 60
Re: Life Is Strange: Episode 2 Gets Curiouser and Curiouser This Month
Re: Is This Real Life? Destiny Wins Game of the Year at the 2015 BAFTAs
Re: Round Up: Hotline Miami 2 Reviews Dial the Right Number
@rastamadeus yeah that's fair enough. I think for me it was more the fact that the story had so much potential it was a shame to see it get fumbled slightly. Either way it didn't really hurt the experience. And yeah thanks for that buddy, between your pointers and a couple more tips online I improved significantly and was able to make it through most of the rest of the game without any real issues!
Re: Review: Atelier Shallie: Alchemists of the Dusk Sea (PlayStation 3)
One thing @NicolaHayden, are there any ties between this trilogy and the first in terms of plot? Only, seeing the details come out, the second trilogy seems a bit more up my street than the first one, so I'm thinking I might skip them!
Re: Review: White Night (PlayStation 4)
Yeah I think I'll definitely be giving it a go! Will wait for a sale though.
Re: Round Up: Hotline Miami 2 Reviews Dial the Right Number
@rastamadeus I don't know man, I really enjoyed the first game once I got to grips with it, but I still left it feeling like the story side of things could have been handled slightly better. The gameplay was brilliant, no argument there, but there were definitely aspects of the game that left room for improvement. Eager to see what this brings to the table!
Re: Demand a Final Fantasy VII Remake Thanks to Square Enix's Official Player Survey
@DHW been saying this for a while. Tbh it'd come out and either they'd not change much and people would complain about it not being up to date enough, or they'd bring it more in line with current gen gaming and people would moan it had been changed too much!
Re: Feature: 11 Games We Want to Play with PS4's Virtual Reality Headset
@Beta yeah FFXIV would be amazing, I was just thinking exactly that myself! Highly unlikely any time soon though. I do, however, think No Man's Sky is a lot more likely to end up supporting it. Sony would be mad not to try to help the guys at Hello Games get VR up and running - get that done right and just that one game will be shifting tons of PS4s and Morpheus all on its own!
