Re: Preview: Just Cause 3 Blows Us Away on PS4

SteveButler2210

I hadn't really looked at much to do with this so far, but some of those screenshots, particularly the night time parachuting down into the lagoon... Just wow. @Cleric20 does it look genuinely as good as that in motion?

Either way I really enjoyed what I played of JC2 (even if I never actually finished it), and this is definitely shaping up to be a "must have" for me! Day 1? Maybe...

Re: Koei Tecmo Teases Warriors Crossover with 'Very Big' Western Property

SteveButler2210

@BertoFlyingFox I've not seen the most recent movie, but based on the first 2 I don't really see how that would work as a musou style game? Hunger Games has a small, set number of competitors, whereas the musou games seem to focus on the idea of one person pretty much decimating entire armies over and over again - the two concepts don't really seem like they would gel?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 91

SteveButler2210

Got a little further into Metro 2033 Redux this morning - part of that was a chapter called "Ghosts", how's that for Halloween gaming?! Seriously though I'm not normally very jumpy but the bit when you're listening to the pipes got me. Think it's because I'm still not quite used to playing games on this big a screen...

Might play some more Broken Age on the vita, and outside of that I just picked up a kindle so I'll be doing some good old fashioned reading!

Re: Dreams Is a Lot More Powerful Than You Think

SteveButler2210

They could really take things to the next level if they include VR as a tool during the creation process as well as the play stage.

For example, instead of restricting users to designing character models etc using conventional input methods, what if they could allow users to fully sculpt them in VR mode? That would be incredible!

Re: Sony Unsure Whether You'll Ever Be Able to Change Your PSN Name

SteveButler2210

Is this doable on any of the other major home consoles? I wonder if it's not just a problem on Sony's end, but also with the way your unique psn id is used to interface with 3rd party games (multiplayer, leaderboards etc etc). I guess the actual downstream impacts of changing your PSN ID after a few years use would be pretty far reaching.

Re: Yoshida: There Are Many PS4 Exclusives in Development

SteveButler2210

@WARDIE I agree with most of what you've said completely, but I'm interested to hear why you feel Rockstar "owe" Sony an exclusive. Not disagreeing here at all, just interested to know if there's some history there I didn't know about, like Sony giving them a helping hand in the early days or something? As far as I know the series has always been multiplatform, with even the first games releasing on PC as well as PS1.

Re: PS4's Detroit Will Be a Different Experience to Beyond, Heavy Rain

SteveButler2210

All I care about is that he tells the story in a sensible order. The approach he took with Beyond was all over the place and totally ruined the experience for me, to the point I never actually finished it (think I was about to start the homeless chapter). A shame, as I absolutely loved Heavy Rain!

I really wish they had patched in the option to play the story chronologically, as I think it really would have improved the game.

Re: Paris Games Week 2015: Gravity Rush 2's New PS4 Trailer Will Turn Your World Upside Down

SteveButler2210

@maamets why "FU Sony"? Yes it's a shame it didn't happen, and it's a shame that the Vita hasn't received in general the first party support it deserves. But it is clear looking at the stuff coming through of Gravity Rush 2 that their vision for the game would never have been possible to fit on the Vita, it just couldn't be done.

I'd rather have the best possible version of the game than have the developers constrained by the system they're developing for, leading to a game that doesn't end up as good as it could be.

Re: Paris Games Week 2015: You've Still Got to Wait Quite a While for No Man's Sky on PS4

SteveButler2210

@DerMeister To be honest I'd be surprised if they announced a June release window without being absolutely confident in it. Hello Games have shown awareness already that they probably announced the game to soon and, although it was in no way their fault, the earlier delays due to their studio flooding and losing a lot of work on the game really didn't help.

At this point they know that people are eagerly awaiting the release, and I think they'll be well aware that announcing a release window and letting it slip again is going to be harmful to the game.

Re: Fallout 4's PS4 Trophies Will Keep You Occupied

SteveButler2210

One of my favourite things about Fallout 3 was that you could plat it but still have insane amounts of stuff left to do. I have the plat but I'm pretty sure I still hadn't discovered a good 30-40% of what's out there, and that's before you even start including DLC!

Hopefully this will be similar. No matter what your feelings are towards Fallout, you can't say you don't get your money's worth

Re: Review: Tales from the Borderlands: Episode 5 - The Vault of the Traveler (PS4)

SteveButler2210

I just finished this the other day, having come late to the party and only started the series a couple of weeks ago, and must say I absolutely loved it. At the very least it is on par with TWD and TWAO, and at times definitely outshone the pair of them!

That finger gun fight alone was a real standout moment, and by far the most original (and hilarious) sequence I've played in any game in recent years

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 90

SteveButler2210

@themcnoisy I read around 2000 hours, which should give me a good 3 years or so out of it. After that only £70 a bulb as well, which is pretty cheap compared to some I've heard of.

@animalovich honestly it had never really occurred to me either, my only experience of projectors was the rubbish ones we had back in school. A mate at work convinced me to give it a go, so after a bit of research to find the right one I went in for a demo in store and was totally blown away by it.

Picture is fantastic, and there is absolutely no noticeable input lag as far as I can tell anyway, so it's ideal for gaming. Now I've tried it, I'd struggle to go back, it's definitely the way forward!

The Witcher 3 is going to be impossible to finish now though - I can't do anything in it for more than a couple minutes without stopping to take in the scenery!

Re: New PS4 Games Will Be Revealed in Paris Next Week

SteveButler2210

@sajoey that would be fantastic, I played Puppeteer for the first time earlier this year and was genuinely surprised by how much I enjoyed it, it was just so cleverly done!

I don't know how well it performed in terms of sales though, so not convinced we'll be seeing a sequel :/

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Syndicate (PS4)

SteveButler2210

@Wesker True, you don't have to do it all, but I'd rather the devs used their time putting meaningful content into a game, rather than chucking hundreds of treasure chests and uninspiring identikit side-missions in and calling the game deep / fleshed out.

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Syndicate (PS4)

SteveButler2210

Sounds about what I expected, someone at Ubisoft really needs to start thinking of quality over quantity - nobody cares you've got hundreds of collectibles and side-quests out the wazoo if none of them are actually remotely engaging. It was far better when you had the main missions, a handful of side quests that actually related to the main missions and helped you prepare for them, and some well thought out tomb set piece sequences. All the rest of the chaff just needs to be cut right out!

Having sidequests that are actually related to the plot would also really help with the story and overall cohesiveness of the games too. Unity's story being so lackluster and un-fleshed out was the other big turn off for me.

Oh well, bargain bin purchase it is then. Shame, as back in the Ezio days I would happily pre-order for release day, and could be confident that I would really enjoy the game!

Re: Review: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone (PS4)

SteveButler2210

@sub12 yeah I was getting nowhere fast with this, as I wanted to try and do everything as I went along. I've had a bit of a break, but think I'll probably dive back in now, but ignore most of the side content and leave it for post-game.

Is there any easy way to identify when I might miss out on quests permanently by progressing the storyline? This already happened to me once right at the start of the game, and was frustrating as there hadn't seemed to be any sort of clue that the quest was timed.

Re: Guide: How to Follow Developers on PS4

SteveButler2210

@get2sammyb is there a list or something that we can use to find out the user names of the people we want to follow? Or is it more a case of search by real name for the person you want and find the profile with the tick to verify it?

It would be good if they did implement a feature to just give you a list of all the verified people and who they work for, as there are almost definitely people I'd like to follow if it was suggested to me, but that I wouldn't think to look up on my own!

Re: UK Sales Charts: PS4 JRPGs Infiltrate Best Sellers List

SteveButler2210

Nice to see some different titles placing well for a change! Must admit, I am rather tempted by Zestiria. I'm not sure I should be buying any more console RPGs for the time being though, as I struggle to find time to finish them at the moment (still practically nowhere in The Witcher 3). I'm hoping to quit work and go to uni next year, so at least if I get in I'll have some extra long holidays where I can devote time to my RPG backlog!

Re: Isn't There a Better Way to Present the Hundreds of Rock Band 4 Songs on the PS Store?

SteveButler2210

Totally justified complaint! Heck, this is a terrible way of organising it for the people who legitimately ARE looking for the Rock Band content, let alone the rest of us.

Organising by song title is a terrible idea, surely it should get it's own little section of the store, which the game makers should have to take responsibility for, where the songs can sit away from the rest of the DLC, and where users who want to browse them can be given the option to sort by Artist, Album etc as well as song name.

Re: Big PS4, PS3 Discounts Hit EU PlayStation Store

SteveButler2210

Good little selection for the Vita, especially considering Bastion is going to be cross-buy when the Vita version releases later in the year!

For me it's Valkyria Chronicles II, VLR, LBP, and possibly Metal Slug 3 & Hotline Miami 2 on Vita. Tales from the Borderlands and Bastion on PS4 as well.

Toying with the idea of Oreshika and Child of Light as well. This sale is going to be hell on my backlog...

Re: Store Update: 6th October 2015 (Europe)

SteveButler2210

Shame the 1001 Spikes price is so high, will wait for a sale on that one.

In the meantime, been enjoying Super Meat Boy this morning, although god knows how anybody is ever going to platinum it. At first I thought the no death trophies meant you could complete the individual levels without dying, and just quit and restart that level if you needed to. But no, you must complete all 20 in each world back to back without dying (although can be done in any order). Die on the 20th level and you have to do the previous 19 all over again. Impossible.....
