I haven't bought a CoD game since the original Black Ops. I did thoroughly enjoy that game, to be fair, but the releases in recent years have just held no appeal for me. I'm sure they are passable games with a well-tuned MP experience, but there is just so much more original, exciting gaming to be had out there right now!
This looks absolutely incredible. I only ever watched the first couple of series though, and I was rather invested in the story, so I would want to go back and get myself fully up to speed to avoid anything overly spoilery. To be honest that trailer in itself was actually probably more spoiler material than I would have liked, although it serves me right for being about 8-9 years behind everyone else!
All I want to do now is play Uncharted again. I wish the PS4 collection wasn't so expensive. Although there's no arguing that it's very much worth the price, I still can't really justify paying £50 for 3 games I already own! Oh well, will just have to wait a bit and grab it around Christmas / January sales, still plenty of time to recap prior to 4 releasing!
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I know it's daft but the main thing that always put me off about CoL was the whole rhyming thing. For some reason I just feel like it would wind me up. I definitely intend to grab it at some stage, but will probably wait until next time it's on offer, as I've already picked up a few things this month.
Hmm, if I didn't already have it I would buy Valiant Hearts all over again. Wonderful game and you can't go wrong at that price! Outside of that I'll be giving this lot a miss. Child of Light and Grim Fandango are tempting, but I've got a lot of portable goodies backed up already, and Arkham Knight just got delivered so that should keep me busy on the PS4 front for a little while!
I presume the physical version will be on PS4 only? If so do you know if it will still support cross buy (as in, buy the PS4 physical ed and get a code or something to unlock the digital version for Vita)?
Edit: never mind, just clicked through to their site and see that they have brought it to all platforms bar Vita. Still, no mention of cross buy though. Doubt they are doing it, but they really should seeing as the digital version is cross buy!
Still never played a Souls game for than half an hour (and that was Demon's). After thoroughly enjoying my time with BB, I fully intend to pick up DS1 at some point, it's just a case of finding the time!
Personally got nothing against Sutherland, but as soon as he spoke in GZ that just wasn't Snake's voice for me. Oh well, I won't let it ruin the game for me, but still it's a shame I reckon that he couldn't stick around for this one.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya true, if it weren't for the fact that Hayter has already played Big Boss in 3, Portable Ops and Peace Walker.
Out of the two I've played so far, I'd say I enjoyed City more. BUT, that could be because I played Asylum on the hardest difficulty on my first time through, which probably put me off it a bit as some of the bosses were a real nightmare.
I'd have to replay Asylum to really pass judgement between those two though. Hopefully should be in more of a position to comment on City vs Knight later on, as I'm expecting my copy of AK to arrive today!
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Yeah I know, it's old hat, but I couldn't be bothered trawling the web for other examples of poor localisation, and this was the first one that came to mind
"My uncle Ingus' clamis[...]".............................CLAMIS? For a genre that relies heavily on text, it's going well so far. Here's hoping for some bizzare localisation to go with the spelling mistakes!
@get2sammyb reckon I'm probably going to pick that up myself. I'm not entirely convinced the overall gameplay loop is something that I'll get on with over an extended period of time, but damn does it look pretty, and at that price I'm happy to give it a go!
Wonder how they're planning on verifying the posts, if they actually do intend to give out the weapons. As I'm pretty sure there's not going to be some poor sap wading through the thousands of posts checking that each one is water. Somebody should upload with the correct tag but drinking a beer and see if they still get it!
@KratosMD yeah, not that I'm unhappy with the current sale (it's fantastic), it is also a shame as suggests none of those games will be hitting PS+ for a long time
Anyone check out the new sale on the store? Some of the pricing really confuses me. For example, ICO and SotC are on sale at £1.20 each (which is frankly insane), or alternatively you can pick up the double pack for the low low price of £8.............wait what?
@KratosMD Not sure those errors were caused by any fw update, I've pretty much always experienced similar errors when browsing the store on mine. Not so much that it's unusable, but still fairly frequently all the same. Confident it's not a problem with our internet either, as we've got pretty stable 40Mbps fibreoptic and have no problems on any other devices.
Still, if the new update has gotten rid of the problem entirely, I'll be happy!
@Neolit You might want to get that checked as I've never had any issue with noise from mine. The PS4 is quiet as a mouse next to my PS3 slim (both stored horizontally), which makes an absolute racket by comparison.
@Matroska interesting, seems odd that they don't include the VAT in their prices. Pretty misleading! And thanks for the tip on the amazon price, I'd assumed it'd be £50 as it's a big game, might have to pick this up when I get paid tomorrow after all!
Only just truly realised the extent to which we in the UK get totally stiffed by the prices. Converting the US price works out at £38.07 for Arkham Knight, which will almost definitely cost £50-55 on the EU store!
@Tasuki when we moved flat recently I insisted on keeping my old xbox, for that and Jade Empire. Still not gone back to them yet, but I will do, one day...
@kyleforrester87 @sinelafa A prime example of a scene that I'm not sure would work the same with modern graphics, and would probably require tweaking, is the b*tch-slap contest with Tifa & Scarlet on the cannon at Junon (as well as the Honey Bee Manor scene as somebody already mentioned).
There's something comedic and light-hearted about those scenes in the original, which I think would take on a whole lot darker/weirder tone if played out again with realistic graphics.
As long as they don't make any major departures from the overall plot, I won't be too put out. But based on some elements of Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, I still think there is cause for concern. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.
One thing I can't wait for is to see how on earth they manage to fit the entire FFVII world in, with the overworld map and airship / chocobo traversal etc, but with current gen graphics. Will they construct the world in a contemporary open world manner, or will they stick to the more basic overworld maps of old? I honestly can't actually fathom how they will make it work, but I can't wait to find out!
Do we have any word on whether there will be a similar sale in the EU? I guess we'll probably find out today as that's the normal store update day, but just thought I'd ask in case anything had been confirmed already.
This could turn out well. I felt there was a lot of potential for Nier, but it was ultimately marred by the poor combat mechanics, and the insane choice that meant you essentially had to replay most of the game several times over to actually get the full story. Still, could be one to keep an eye on.
Doubt I'll pick up the double pack, but the ability to play Beyond in the correct order may tempt me back. I only got about half way through it previously before I gave up as jumping all over the timeline was doing my head in!! (Also I picked up GTA V meaning this got totally sidelined)
@get2sammyb I 100% agree with this statement. I was thinking about it earlier today, and how a lot of people complain about the state of the industry these days, but to be honest I think that with all the mindboggling tech now available to creators, we are probably on the cusp of a real "golden age" of gaming. With all those big names on the horizon it certainly feels like it anyway! Either way I'm satisfied and can't wait to see what else gets shown!!
@SKC_Diamond this is going to trample all over those records that Bloodstained just set. It's got to be one of the most requested videogames of all time, perhaps second only to all the requests for a FFVII remake. Now, if only we could get one of them........oh, wait!
@kyleforrester87 Exactly, it'd make a lot of business sense! Now if they could do that and then make it a hat trick by following up with either a) a good chunk of gameplay footage of KH3, or b) confirmation of and a release date for FFXII HD (with a Vita version), I would be very happy indeed!
@Aaronzord I wouldn't be surprised if they do a surprise announcement in their conference that it is now on the store and ready for download.
Honestly it can't be that much work, after all, the game is complete. Surely all they need to do is port it to the PS4 architecture (which I thought would be easy now that it's more standardised than PS3 was) and make the Steam achievements list into a trophy list.
In terms of megaton announcements, nothing else is ever going to come close to this. Not for a loooong time at least. It's simple maths, 2 of Sony's biggest reveals were games that millions of fans have been clamouring for for the last 10-15 years or so, but that nobody really believed would ever get made. For many gamers this was the moment that 10+ years of hopes and dreams just became that bit more real. I honestly can't think of anything else that comes even close to these two in terms of how many people want have been crying out for them over such a prolonged period.
To my mind, it'll be another 10+ years at least before we see another E3 with announcements like this, simply because it will take that long for another potential product to build itself up to the same level of frenzied demand from fans as these two titles.
Here's hoping the FFVII remake will aim for a 2017 release to tie in with the 20th anniversary! It's reassuring to see Nomura at the helm. Fingers crossed for Uematsu on soundtrack duty too!! As long as they don't dumb the story down or switch up the gameplay too much (no real time combat please), this has potential to be staggeringly good...
@WARDIE you should definitely go back and finish it, it's a great little game and only about 3-4 hrs long from memory (can't remember exactly but I know I did it in one sitting). One of the few games to really hit me emotionally.
@themcnoisy tell me about it. I'm already doubting whether or not I will ever actually end up going back and finishing DA:I, even though I was really enjoying it. And then there's The Witcher...
It's a shame that the Vita first party support has stopped now, as I have a lot more time to play handhelds now than I do my PS4.
Whilst the overall numbers are terrible, at least it's the same across the market over there. Although the sales aren't great, at least the PS4 & Vita are holding their own fairly well against the competition. Could be worse, the PS4 could have sold 219 units...
@AyeHaley yeah I'm tempted by both. Leaning more towards Wolfenstein though, as the cheapest you can get that online is c.£18, whereas you can get a new boxed copy of Metro Redux for the same price as it is in the sale! Still, I have set the Metro demos to download - shame about the lack of trophy support, but when you're getting approx. the first 1/3 of each game for free you can't really complain!!
There are some great deals here, will definitely pick up Bastion as I've been jonesing to play that ever since I finished Transistor! As for the rest, I'm seriously tempted by Wolfenstein & Metro Redux. However, I think I might leave these for now, as you can pick them up on disc for the same price, so there's no immediate need for me to jump on the deal. Might have been different if these offers came up at the end of the month, as there's no arguing that digital is convenient for remote play, but at the moment I need to save my cash for The Witcher!
Edit: Just found out that these offers end the day before I get paid - frustrating!!
@Fallout09-mk how is it misleading? This is a Sony focussed gaming website, so there is no requirement for them to mention it being on other consoles such as PC, XB1 etc. And out of the systems covered by this site, it is only on PS4. There's no indication of it being a console exclusive, so no misinformation here!
@get2sammyb yeah it'll be nice if they give you the option to do a pacifist run like in the original (although better balancing of that would be welcome, as the last few areas were horrible)! My biggest fear is that it ends up a shootery cinematic QTE-fest with some free running elements on the side. Hopefully that won't be the case...
@get2sammyb @Squiggle55 it's a cool idea, but I don't see the developer implementing it. If they did, you'd be in a situation where the actual player has effectively paid good money to basically watch other people play the game for them, and conversely you have a load of twitch viewers who are pretty much getting the chance to play the game for free! Couldn't be good for sales, surely?
Wow. These are seriously stunning, especially when you consider that this game is being developed cross-gen as well!
@Wesker I sort of see what you mean, and it would be nice if everyone could pick up and enjoy this, but I wouldn't want that if it came at the expense of the plot. We're many games now into a series whose main emphasis is storytelling - frankly if somebody goes in totally blind and then complains they didn't know what's going on, at this stage in the series, that is their own fault. Obviously at this point veterans of the series are going to get a lot more out of the game than others, and I don't think that's a problem tbh.
Personally I'd much rather a complicated plot that fits with the canon and ties everything off nicely, than them dumb it down in the name of accessibility. Fortunately, this is Kojima, and as such there's about as much chance of a simple, beginner-friendly plot here as there is of hell freezing over!
@kyleforrester87 @Alpha to be fair in Type 0 the motion blur was turned up more than in anything else I've ever played, especially considering how sensitive the camera could be. It did bother me slightly at first, but then I switched to Remote Play and it was almost unnoticeable. You can definitely tell the game was meant to be played on a handheld, as everything about it just feels so much better when you're playing on the Vita!
@BLPs yeah you are able to manually track donations from other sources, it's got a fair bit of functionality, and is free and pretty simple to use too. But having said that, if you have that other page then I guess it's not essential! All the best man, doubt I'll be able to tune in much as my other half isn't likely to be interested, but will try and catch some of it if I can!
The only similar game I've played is FFXIV and I don't recall any major issues when that launched on PS4. That said, this is going from PC only to launching on 2 consoles at once, whereas FFXIV was only launching on PS4 (having already launched on PS3 previously), so I guess this is a bit different in terms of the numbers of new joiners in one go!
I am intrigued by this one since the long gameplay trailer that debuted a few weeks back, but I'm realistically never going to have the time to play it! Although if it plays well on remote play I might be in with a shout.
@Anchorsam_9 any idea how the Vita version performs? Also I gather there is a MP component to the game - how does that play out, and does it add much to the overall package?

This is a Sony focussed gaming website, so there is no requirement for them to mention it being on other consoles such as PC, XB1 etc. And out of the systems covered by this site, it is only on PS4. There's no indication of it being a console exclusive, so no misinformation here!
Re: Mirror's Edge Catalyst Catches Its Breath in 2016 on PS4
@get2sammyb yeah it'll be nice if they give you the option to do a pacifist run like in the original (although better balancing of that would be welcome, as the last few areas were horrible)! My biggest fear is that it ends up a shootery cinematic QTE-fest with some free running elements on the side. Hopefully that won't be the case...
Re: Until Dawn Has the Best Use of the DualShock 4 Ever
@get2sammyb @Squiggle55 it's a cool idea, but I don't see the developer implementing it. If they did, you'd be in a situation where the actual player has effectively paid good money to basically watch other people play the game for them, and conversely you have a load of twitch viewers who are pretty much getting the chance to play the game for free! Couldn't be good for sales, surely?
Re: Metal Gear Solid V Is Looking Boss in These New PS4 Screenshots
Re: Final Fantasy Type-0 HD's Motion Blur Making You Sick? There's a Patch For That
@kyleforrester87 @Alpha to be fair in Type 0 the motion blur was turned up more than in anything else I've ever played, especially considering how sensitive the camera could be. It did bother me slightly at first, but then I switched to Remote Play and it was almost unnoticeable. You can definitely tell the game was meant to be played on a handheld, as everything about it just feels so much better when you're playing on the Vita!
Re: Ratchet & Clank Stream Chucks a Spanner at Cancer
@BLPs yeah you are able to manually track donations from other sources, it's got a fair bit of functionality, and is free and pretty simple to use too. But having said that, if you have that other page then I guess it's not essential! All the best man, doubt I'll be able to tune in much as my other half isn't likely to be interested, but will try and catch some of it if I can!
Re: Of Course The Elder Scrolls Online Has Had a Shaky Launch on PS4
The only similar game I've played is FFXIV and I don't recall any major issues when that launched on PS4. That said, this is going from PC only to launching on 2 consoles at once, whereas FFXIV was only launching on PS4 (having already launched on PS3 previously), so I guess this is a bit different in terms of the numbers of new joiners in one go!
I am intrigued by this one since the long gameplay trailer that debuted a few weeks back, but I'm realistically never going to have the time to play it! Although if it plays well on remote play I might be in with a shout.
Re: Review: Super Exploding Zoo (PlayStation 4)
@Anchorsam_9 any idea how the Vita version performs? Also I gather there is a MP component to the game - how does that play out, and does it add much to the overall package?
