Re: Ratchet & Clank Stream Chucks a Spanner at Cancer

SteveButler2210

@teknium_ Dude, whether or not you have donated it's not cool to be complaining that you have been "let down" because you didn't get a free cosmetic reward for what is supposed to be a charitable action. The reward is that you have contributed towards helping people who desperately need it. Just because your wife is from the affected area and you have already donated does not make your attitude of entitlement here any less wrong. If the issue is so close to your heart then don't belittle it by throwing your toys out the pram because you didn't get a pretty background for your donation. Try and have some perspective...

@BLPs good on you buddy, and for a great cause too, always happy to help raise money for CRUK (I abseiled Battersea Power Station a couple years back for one of their fundraisers). Hope it all goes to plan! Do you know if you can donate via the Twitch app on PS4? I'm unable to access Twitch on my work computer to donate :/ failing that is there any chance you could set up a JustGiving page? Only takes 5 mins, and the funds go straight to the charity

Re: Retrospective: Returning to the Wastelands of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas

SteveButler2210

I had a great time with 3, although it seems I didn't play it for anywhere near as long as some people! I'm still yet to play New Vegas, but I just dont see myself finding the time to fit it in any time soon.

If they do bring a remaster collection I'd love to see an import save option. I finished the main game of 3 but not the dlc, so I'd like to be able to get straight to that without having to replay the rest from scratch!

Re: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection Ditches 3D Support

SteveButler2210

Maybe I'm just being dense here but I'm not sure I get it. They had no problem bringing the MP across for TLOU, so why not do the same here? Surely a boost to the MP community would be a good thing as you're revitalising it? Oh well, I was never going to buy day 1 anyway, can't justify paying full price for a collection of games I already own when there are so many new games I'm yet to try!

Re: Weirdness: This DriveClub Razor Needs to Be Seen to Be Believed

SteveButler2210

@get2sammyb Oh man I totally forgot about these! Same as @RiRiRin I had one when I was younger (although I can't remember which). If I recall correctly there were little plastic balls or something inside the screen so that when you pushed the buttons the air forced them around, and there were little plastic "u"s that you had to get them in. Best way to get kids interested in bath time!!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 70

SteveButler2210

@get2sammyb Definitely. And yeah I'm sure it does, there are a few places I've sort of stumbled on where I really didn't last long (including a very early encounter with Paarl). I think what saved me in Amelia was that I'd invested mostly in Vitality, which let me tank a few hits whilst laying the damage on. Fire paper made her HP drop super fast!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 70

SteveButler2210

After an absolute age of not playing, this morning I've now started to properly sink my teeth into Bloodborne. After sticking a couple extra points in my Vitality I finally gave Gazza the boot, and have followed that up by offing Blood Starved Beast, Vicar Amelia and the Witches all on the first time! Absolutely loving it and it just keeps getting better, although I do have to say I can't help but feel that the further you get it seems to be getting easier as you start to get a little OP (and I've not done any grinding since Gascoigne) - anyone else find that?

Re: These Witcher 3 Glitches are Bloody Horrific

SteveButler2210

Given how this isn't a widely reported issue, I'm inclined to suggest that these probably weren't all discovered during "normal" gameplay. Seems more likely that he's messed around with something behind the scenes to me (probably on the PC version, where I assume that would be easier to do).

Re: It Sounds Like Square Enix's E3 2015 Press Conference May Hold Some Surprises

SteveButler2210

@ApostateMage I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is announced. I'm certain they made a statement waaaaaaaay back that if the FFX/X-2 remasters did well, then they would look at an HD remaster of XII next. Seeing as the X/X-2 package seems to have done pretty well across all formats, I'd actually be more surprised if it wasn't announced!

My only concern is that they might not do a Vita version - that would really bum me out, as that's what I'm most keen to play it on.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Online's Biggest PS4 Trailer Yet Features Over 8 Minutes of Gameplay

SteveButler2210

@alphadrago5 ok that is pretty impressive. I mean, by and large I think FFXIV is the better looking game, and has some glorious environments (especially looking ahead to some of the Heavensward locations), but this sounds absolutely fantastic in terms of sheer exploration! I've got far too much on my plate to consider it at the moment, but I will almost definitely pick this up at some point once the price comes down

Re: The Elder Scrolls Online's Biggest PS4 Trailer Yet Features Over 8 Minutes of Gameplay

SteveButler2210

I honestly hadn't been all that interested in this game up until now, and the first few minutes of that trailer didn't do a whole lot to change my mind. But after a few minutes in, things just started to get better and better, and I have to say I am now very interested indeed.

One thing I am interested in is, when it comes to towns/cities etc, are there various smaller areas with loading between them a la FFXIV, or is the whole thing just one big area without any loading?

Re: Sony to Put PlayStation's Full Weight Behind No Man's Sky

SteveButler2210

@rjejr in defence of Hello Games, a large part of the reason development has taken this long is because around Christmas the other year, the flooding in this area was so bad that their entire studio was effectively underwater, and they lost significant amounts of their resources.

Personally I have a lot of time for these guys. As a small indie development studio it can't be easy to bounce back from such a catastrophic loss, even with the backing of Sony, but they never missed a beat in terms of getting back on with things and driving the project forwards. I think they are a fantastic example of an independent developer striving for something bigger, and I really hope the game turns out well and that things go well for them going forwards.

Also, I have lived in the same area they're based all my life (and now the same town), so I've got to support the local talent!

Re: Metal Gear Solid May End Up Being a Mobile Franchise, Says Konami

SteveButler2210

This is the point at which the whole situation has become so ridiculous that I've actually gone full circle with how I feel about it - I am once again half inclined to think this is all just some big joke from Kojima. I just struggle to believe it could be anything but.

I don't think I can remember any other time where one company has taken so many steps, so quickly, to completely alienate and infuriate their audience. It's almost all been too perfect, even down to the timing of it all, leaving just enough time for people to start to cool off only to then come out with something else which seems almost purposefully geared to rile the public.

I'm sure it's just wishful thinking, but sometimes this whole thing does just seem to be too perfectly engineered to generate ill will. Why would any right-minded company / set of execs do this to themselves and their brand...?

Re: This Free Mad Max: Fury Road PS4 Theme Is Pretty Rad

SteveButler2210

Can't understand why anybody wouldn't be excited about the new film, it looks brilliant! Especially as, as much as I love the originals (well, except from Thunderdome...), I personally think Tom Hardy is far better suited to the role than Mel Gibson. Probably helps that I really don't rate Gibbo as an actor.

Re: Powers Recharging for Second Season Exclusively on PlayStation

SteveButler2210

Funny, after the generally positive reviews for the first couple of episodes, I got the impression it was generally getting pretty poor as it went on. Oh well, I'll check it out at some point, but with a Netflix watchlist as long as my arm it'll be a while before I get round to it.

I'm also very surprised to hear it's been viewed so much, seeing as the marketing has been non-existent, and at least initially I gather it was almost impossible to actually find it on the store without some serious detective work!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 66

SteveButler2210

Bloodborne for me this weekend, loving what I've played so far! After spending a while exploring and generally wondering what all the talk of it being difficult was all about, the Cleric Beast gave me a real lesson in humility! So far it's 4-0, time to farm me some more blood echoes...

@JaxonH I've been playing a lot of X-2 recently, as I decided to plat it. But @rjejr is right, it's not very good at all. The plot is near non existent, and it's terribly lazily developed (only about 5-10 new enemies in the whole thing, everything else is just taken from the original)! It's not a terrible game, but it's definitely the worst FF, even more than XIII-2...

Re: Indie Games Rule in May PlayStation Plus Freebies Roster

SteveButler2210

Not a bad month really, although I could've sworn the original version of Guacamelee was given away for PS3 and Vita already? Not really sure there was enough added to warrant giving it away again as a new game in it's own right.

Oh well, you can't win em all! Hohokum and Race the Sun are fairly pleasing as far as I'm concerned, but I've just ordered Bloodborne so the PS+ selection was always going to take a backseat for me this month!

Re: An Absolute Ton of Japanese PS4, PS3, and Vita Games are on Sale on the North American PlayStation Store

SteveButler2210

I seriously hope we get a similar selection over here in the UK!

@Swiket as has been said already, a physical copy is well worth it - you should be able to find it dirt cheap by now, especially if you look at pre-owned!

@ObviouslySheik Seriously? There are big PSN sales on Final Fantasy titles several times a year, you can't really complain. If they did them any more frequently people would moan that they were too often and nothing else ever got a chance on sale!

Re: First Impressions: How Does The Elder Scrolls Online Beta Look and Run on PS4?

SteveButler2210

@ShogunRok and anyone else who's played both - how does the diversity in terms of environments, dungeons etc compare to something like FFXIV:ARR, which I thought did pretty well at spicing things up? I can't help but feel from all the stuff I've seen that a lot of the environments come across as overly samey, and the muted colour palette seems to give the whole thing quite a drab feel. Is this the case throughout? And is it as bad as it seems, or does it just need to be played to be appreciated? I know ARR can be a bit overly bright and colourful at times, but this just seems to be the opposite end of the spectrum entirely, almost dismally so!

Also, how is the soundtrack? From what I've heard the single player entries have had pretty decent ones, so hopefully the same is true here.

Re: Telltale Games Is Teaming Up with Marvel in 2017

SteveButler2210

Whatever people say about Telltale games, they are clearly still a serious hot property, and there seems to be a LOT of appetite to work with them. They've made games tied to two huge comic series, one of the biggest shows currently on TV, and now Marvel! I reckon a likely collaboration at some point is going to be Star Wars. Going with the TV side of things though, I think a Telltale / Breaking Bad game could be amazing (although no spoilers please, only a few series in haha)!

Re: Talking Point: Does the PS4 Really Need Big Holiday Exclusives?

SteveButler2210

I agree that a greater spread of the exclusives throughout the year would be a great thing. The real big players like Uncharted can no doubt hold their own around Christmas time, but the other smaller exclusives don't stand a chance against some of the 3rd party behemoths out there.

Some of the games mentioned in this article really deserved so much better too. I recently played Puppeteer for the first time, and it was glorious. Almost makes me sad to think that so many people miss out on gems like this when they just get swept aside by the rush of parents running out to buy the latest COD for their 12 year old.

Re: You Need This Journey Record in Your Life

SteveButler2210

@themcnoisy to be fair vinyl in general has seen a rise in popularity of late. And by and large collectable OSTs are usually pretty pricey anyway (see the Final Fantasy soundtracks as an example). I'm guessing vinyl is more expensive to print nowadays than CD as well, and they're picture discs rather than just plain old vinyl, so I'd say that $35 for the set is a pretty reasonable deal.
