Re: Crimson Desert Looks 'Rough' on Base PS5, Here's 25 Minutes of Direct Capture Footage

Steeleye25

There are some rough edges, but I think it looks beautiful. I'm playing on balanced and frame rate has not been an issue. The controls take some getting used to, and the game doesn't really explain anything well, but I'm enjoying it. It's not a game you play for story, but rather it's fun to just go exploring. The only real gripe I have with it so far is the repetitiveness of the NPCs. I've heard the same phrases too many times, even way more than the "arrow to the knee" comment from Skyrim. I can see why the game is polarizing, but it's right up my alley and I can't wait to dig back in later today.

Re: PS5 Players Can Finally Explore This Award-Winning Xbox Gem

Steeleye25

@Weebleman Seriously! It was the same for me and everyone else there. I've met a ton of celebrities over the years (used to work at a casino where our break room was next to the VIP room), and I think there was only 1 other one like that I met - it was Gilbert Gottfried, who basically gave me a 25 minute comedy routine just for me. Every other one was just preoccupied with themselves. He was definitely a legend. Take care!

@Weebleman Some people just want to argue even when proven wrong. But had to say, God I miss Mr. Leahy. I got to meet him and have cheeseburgers with him and Randy at one of their live shows. Guy was a total class act, as he was the rare celebrity that actually asked everyone about their lives and was genuinely interested.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

Steeleye25

@Queesh This is a good point. I have something kind of unique in my house though. I have an arcade 1up that I modded that plays old consoles as well as arcade games. There is box art for the games, and you can download the manuals as well. It goes as far back to the Magnavox and up to PS2, Gamecube, and the original Xbox (I can add more advance systems but they don't play as well). It's fun to just go through the catalog and play old games that I never did the first time around, plus my favorites. I have thousands of physical games from over 30 years of collecting, but it's just cumbersome hooking up all the systems and managing the boxes of titles. Everything is one that one machine instead.

Re: Physical Game Sales Hit All-Time Low in the US

Steeleye25

I've always been a ride or die physical copy buyer, but I've had too many instances with pre-orders that arrive days or weeks late. I try to buy from my local mom and pop game store, but they've been unreliable with copies coming in on time. For example, I had preordered Dynasty Warriors Origins last year. They didn't get it in until 3 weeks after release. There's also the environmental impact of the plastic for physical games. So, I've been buying less of them. In the past I always kept them for future use, but with more years behind me than ahead it's just not as feasible anymore.

Re: 'What the F*ck Is This?': God of War Creator Hates First TV Show Image

Steeleye25

Jesus, I am so sick of this internet whining culture. Wait for the damn show to come out. Watch it, or don't. No one cares. And I am so sick of Jaffe constantly trash mouthing everyone and everything, although I'm amazed he managed 2 compliments here. Someone just get him a truck load of tissues and take away his internet connection.

Re: These 13+ PS5, PS4, and PS Plus Games Are Coming Out Next Week (2nd-8th March)

Steeleye25

Seeing the Legacy of Kain games being released again makes me laugh now, as I read an interview with Amy Henning who wrote, worked on, and directed most of them where she criticized game stories that are never finished. We never really got any ultimate resolution to those games, did we? I will be jumping in again, but I just remember reading that interview thinking about the "to be continued" ending from multiple Kain games. Not a knock on her or the games, I love them and think she is brilliant, but it's amusing nonetheless.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 622

Playing High on Life for the first time. I don't remember ever hearing about it, but after hearing about how the sequel was so funny I looked to see if it was on sale and I already owned it. Must have been a PS plus title I blindly added at some point. It is absolutely hilarious and I think it's the funniest game I've ever played (sorry Tales from the Borderlands). I just got the movie theater late last night and can't believe there is an entire Mystery Science Theater style movie to watch in it. Gonna watch the whole thing sometime today.

Re: PowerWash Simulator 2's Adventure Time DLC Pack Cleans Up in April on PS5

Steeleye25

I read about a year ago that Power Wash Simulator was a good game to play managing stress. I have a lot of stress in my life plus a heart condition so I gave it a try. It really does relax me when playing, and really does calm me down if I start to get iffy. I don't watch TV so I don't know what this show is but will pick it up anyway. This game is just so chill and satisfying.

Re: 40+ PS5, PS4 Games to Buy in PS Store's Dealmania Sale

Steeleye25

I really can't recommend Tchia enough. It's a Zelda-esque game set in New Caledonia based on their mythology. It looks like a cute kid's game, but don't let that fool you. It has some seriously dark humor that had me cracking up. Being able to possess any animal you see in the game never gets old. You can even possess a bird and poop on people. Yes, really. It was one of my favorite games in the last 10 years.

Re: Jan 2026 USA Sales: 5-Year-Old PS5 Nudges Nintendo's New Switch 2 Aside

Steeleye25

The success of the Switch 2 is baffling to me. I don't mean to knock anyone's enjoyment of it, I hope they like it, but really, what is on there that you can't play on any other console? Some kiddie themed games, Mario Kart, Metroid, and Donkey Kong. The same tired games we get every generation. The first console I ever bought with my own money was the original NES. Since then, I've owned every Nintendo console except the WiiU, which I was very tempted to buy a few times. But I have absolutely zero interest in the Switch 2. They still haven't fixed the drifting controllers (all of my Switch ones were affected ever AFTER getting them fixed), the games are overpriced, and the peripherals are costly as well. My daughter and I played Mario Kart World for a good 20 minutes at the store together. I asked her what she thought, and she said it was boring. I agreed. The PS5 costs what, only $50 more? You get a catalog 3 times the size and a more powerful device. What's the point?

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Nioh 3?

Steeleye25

It's amazing. The combat is unbelievable, and there are so many ways to approach it, that it is just unreal. I find myself when stuck on a boss just trying out different strategies that I ordinarily would never think of or do. I don't even care about the story, I'm having a ton of fun just exploring and fighting things.

Re: Jaw-Dropping Black Myth Sequel Effectively Confirmed for PS5

Steeleye25

I really hope it is PS5 because I'm hoping this generation is going to be it for me. Games have just gotten too expansive and too massive. Plus, I've got a backlog that will easily last me the rest of my life. But there are certain games I might make an exception for, and this is one of them. Bring it on.

Re: Try Pragmata's Hack-and-Shoot Action in Playable Demo, Available Now on PS5

Steeleye25

@OldGamer999 I don't believe so but you do get several items to bring into the main game. I read that it's kind of a side content thing to get you accustomed to the game's mechanics. It only took me about 25 minutes to beat it so I don't mind playing it again. Which I probably will do anyway in a day or 2, it was that enjoyable. The boss fight at the end was really damn good, just fairly easy on normal mode.

Re: Rumour: MindsEye Dev Splits From Hitman Publisher, Seeks to Fix 2025's Biggest Flop

Steeleye25

The videos of the glitches at launch were comedy gold. That being said, there is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing Build a Rocket Boy can do to get me to play this game. It's one thing to release a broken game and try to improve it. But when you take zero blame for releasing a broken mess, treat your employees like dirt, and then even go so far as to claim other developers sabotaged your game intentionally, then you are obviously insane and I will never support you. Bye Felicia. Think I'll watch the compilation fail video and laugh again.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 618

Steeleye25

@JVCIOM70 I've also been a huge gamer since 1978. When Skull and Bones first came out, I thought it was ok but put quite a bit of time into it since I love pirating games. But a few months later, Sea of Thieves came out. I was reluctant to try it due to the cartoony art style, but there was a demo and I can honestly say it completely blows Skull and Bones out of the water (pun intended). There are so many things to do in it, from "tall tales" including Pirates of the Caribbean, dozens of ways of finding treasure, exploring, a huge ocean, etc. The physics and ship fighting is leagues above Bones. My only gripe is I'm a 100% solo player, and sometimes other players will gang up on you (3 or 4 at a time). If you don't like the multiplayer though, there is an option called safer seas that is solo play. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Re: Random: Someone Made Their Very Own Portable PS4 Handheld Console

Steeleye25

I actually have my PS4 connected to an arcade machine. There is no right stick unfortunately, so a lot of games such as FPS games are out, but for a lot of others it plays beautifully. i put a Youtube video of it up under my username Steeleye50 if you want to check it out - also has other modded arcade machines and a digital pinball.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for February 2026 Announced

Steeleye25

Undisputed is ok, but it really makes me miss Fight Night. I'm not a fan of having so many packs for fighters priced at $15 USD each when in the past FN you had a full roster for the most part. Kind of a meh month for me but a lot of you will enjoy the rest.

Re: Ubisoft May Have Put Watch Dogs Down for Good

Steeleye25

I thought the first one was pretty decent. A lot of people cite the 2nd as the strongest, but I couldn't get over the main character who goes on and on about being peaceful and nonviolent in the beginning, then one of the first missions has you shooting cops. I enjoyed going around the city, but I just could not get past the idiotic writing. For the 3rd, I was on a mission about 1 hour in that just kept glitching out repeatedly. After about 25 failed attempts, I was done. I ended up trading in both 2 and 3. This is for the best.
