Ugh, how did I get so hooked on Power Wash Simulator 2? I was up till about 2 AM this morning cleaning a farmhouse. This game feels like some kind of psychiatric evaluation for people with OCD.
Ubisoft was my favorite game company for years. Their games were innovative, superbly made, and very enjoyable. Then they just started releasing one carbon copy of "the formula" after another. I kept buying, and kept getting disappointed. It's nice they are changing their approach, but saying they will focus on live service and open world just means it's going to be more of the same greedy corporate business shenanigans. They've burned me too many times. I'm out, and not coming back.
Read an article about a game called Atlas Fallen last week and it was only $17 on the PS sale so I gave it a try, I'm loving it, it's one of those games that has great exploration and the combat is really enjoyable. I am also playing Quarantine Zone on Steam which is an absolute blast. It's also hilarious! Happy gaming everyone!
@MrPeanutbutterz that sounds about right. I got stuck on Balatro the past few days (it finally clicked for me) but I need to get back into Absolum tonight. Have a good one!
It just depends on the vision and passion of the developers. I've had great times with some AAA titles, although my favorite games are usually the smaller "I can finish them in a couple hours instead of months repeating the same mission types over and over" formulaic games. (Still looking at you Ubisoft). I find smaller studios typically take more risks. Unfortunately, corporate politics and shareholders almost always play it safe and try to repeat past successes.
I loved T2 but it was way too short. Even games back in the 90s which it was modeled after are longer than it is. My game of the month was Flight Simulator, I know it's not for everyone but it is truly mind blowing. I even flew to my house in the game, and then crashed into it. The game is so realistic I almost braced for impact.
My kids are probably mostly responsible for #4 and #5. I don't understand Roblox, it's just poor fan made carbon copies of better games, many of which we have, but they don't play those. Then on top of it I have to monitor them from time to time due to the social media aspect (my son is 15 but autistic, and my daughter is 13). I've had so many conversations with them about assuming they are conversing with predators, and the dangers of it all. God, it's sad how predatory gaming has become since I was a kid, with not just that but all the microtransactions, paid DLCs, scam games, etc.
For me, I really need to curb my addiction of buying so many games. As much as I want to play them all, I just can't. Games today are too time consuming, and I never really see and do everything in them like I used to. I don't know what it was about 2025, but I spent way too much money on gaming - more than the past 5 years combined. I have a home arcade as well that I spent around $1000 alone on mods. I should be getting payroll deduction from Buy Stuff Arcades at this point. I also should be satisfied with what I have, but I'm obsessed with constantly upgrading the machines to add more games and systems - most that I will never play. I am starting to think a support group is in order.
I think I remember that one. I beat it at launch and have been waiting for a 2nd playthrough (wanted to try and forget as much as possible so it would be fresh). I think it's just about time. Yeah, some of those stories were so good. And I have the same problem, I can never be evil in games but going to try it anyway. Have a good one!
@AhmadSumadi I second that. I loved CE33 and thought it was brilliant, but Banishers was really moving - not just the main story but all the side quests, especially the Haunting cases, were so well written.
This was actually my favorite level of the game, and that's saying something. The fact that they added so much DLC makes me think I should send Team Asobi some presents of their own. They rock.
I have an Outrun arcade 1up with a mod on it (bought legally) that has all the Mario Karts on it, console and arcade, except the new one. I much prefer the new Sonic Crossworlds to all of them.
@Leinad7 I actually bought all of Banshee on Blu ray years ago. But my wife does have HBO max so I need to check out Warrior again. Thanks for that (In Colorado by the way). Take care!
My house has been rampant with Covid (it finally caught up to us) so haven't been playing much, but I was able to get a little bit of time with Flight Simulator in, where I helicoptered over my house and accidentally crashed into it. What an amazing game.
@Leinad7 Oh wow I forgot about Warrior. I rarely watch TV but did see a few episodes of that and really liked it. I need to try and watch the rest. Yeah Job is so badass.
I love Peanuts (even got to meet Charles Schultz when I was a kid!) and always look forward to more. But at the same time, it's sad that Schultz's family has disregarded his wishes after his death. He wanted all of it to stop - plus he had rules regarding things that should never happen such as Charlie Brown winning, certain front facing perspectives in the animations, etc that have been broken. As cheesy as the last Peanuts game that came out this year was though, I enjoyed it. Been reading the comics since I was a kid, and actually bought the whole 26 book set that has every strip. This is good news.
This is not an evolution; it's a devolution back to the original art style. Time will tell how the gameplay holds up, but I was really disappointed by this announcement.
This was the funniest game I ever played when it came out. The gun fight in the first episode had me on the floor laughing. Gonna have to dip back into this. I remember playing the New Tales from the Borderlands though, that one was absolutely terrible.
Played this on the Lenovo Legion Go. Unique story and setting, combat is a bit lacking but enjoyable. The soundtrack, however, is an absolute banger. I really enjoyed it.
When I was a little kid I was obsessed with Clash of the Titans in the 80s. Getting to fight and destroy Perseus in God of War 2 with voice acting from the actor in the movie I think is my favorite epic gaming moment of all time. I had no idea he would be in the game so it was an awesome surprise.
I typically don't like top down games but love police games (was a huge Police Quest fan back in the day) so I gave it a try. It's fantastic. Story is really cheesy but patrolling the beat is a ton of fun. Much better than Police Simulator.
@AhmadSumadi I beat it at launch and loved it. I would recommend though before finishing the game make sure to do all the haunting cases. I loved every aspect of it. The only complaint I could make was that I did like the combat but it could have been better. But for story and exploration I thought it was incredible.
@Dodoo No, it's sad been gaming since 1978 and have never played a FF game before this. So I'll probably try out the remake after since I'm about 20 hrs in. Really loving it though.
Some FF VII Rebirth (first time playing a FF game). I am seriously hooked on this. Also started a 4th playthrough of Tchia. It's become a gaming comfort food for me. It's a Zelda-esque title rooted in New Caledonia mythology about a girl on an island whose father gets kidnapped. Don't let the cuteness of the game fool you, as it has some seriously dark humor that left me in stitches. You can also transform into any animal you see which is awesome. This includes turning into a bird where you can poop on people. Yes, really.
Can't wait for Flight Simulator. Last time I played something like that was a Chuck Yeager game on PC in the 80s. I remember the instruction manual for that was like 100 pages.
Under the Waves started off really strong with an amazing atmosphere like stated here, but the narrative completely fell apart at the end. It was so disappointing because it really was enjoyable at first.
@old_gamer74 I have not finished Siren's Rest yet but have played it. It's decent, but compared to the main game it's somewhat of a letdown. To be honest, I really don't think it's worth it unless you pick it up on sale.
Even though I've been gaming since the late 70s I've never played a Final Fantasy game due to the turn based combat but decided to give FF VII Rebirth a try since it's real time combat. I'm only about 6 hours in but it's pretty amazing so far. Outside of that I've been trying to get my Where Winds Meet character leveled up to where I was previously after playing the beta a ton several months ago. It's still incredible on technically my 2nd partial playthrough. I still can't believe this is a free title. Might sneak in a little Arc Raiders between. Happy gaming everyone.

@Link41x that game didn't do so well and I think reviews were meh but playing as Connery Bond was a dream come true for me. I loved it.

I had zero interest in this. But now that they've cast Hurst, I will give it a shot. He's a great choice.

Re: The Sands of Time Are Running Out on Prince of Persia's PS5 Remake Shadow Dropping Today
Most likely, Ubi needs to add 50 fetch quests to the game as part of the "ultra deluxe deluxe deluxe" edition. Give them time.

I'm a big fan of these games but would prefer a new story. I hate when they retcon things.
