Sony returned to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to talk about the Sony Honda Mobility Afeela 1, its electric car that features some interesting PlayStation integration.
These were more obvious at this year's showcase, with the company announcing some fun customisation options for the vehicle as well as full support for Remote Play.
You'll be able to customise the car with themes based on PlayStation titles, such as Astro Bot and Gran Turismo. These themes include dashboard wallpapers and e-motor sounds. Other franchises, such as God of War, will also get wallpapers.
So, you'll be able to deck out your Afeela 1 with an Astro Bot theme, for example, and even have it produce sounds from the game, which sounds pretty fun.
As mentioned, the car will also feature Remote Play. This will allow passengers to access your at-home PlayStation over the internet and play the system remotely. Obviously this is heavily reliant on a good connection, so it'll be interesting to see how this works in a car traveling at speed.
The Afeela 1 is aiming for release in late 2026, with pricing starting at $102,900. An Afeela Origin model launches in 2027, starting at $89,900.

Ok so the car gets themes before the PS5 itself, gotcha
unless i can put an LCARS theme on it and all the starfleet bleeps and bloops ill wait.
I guess that would make it more like a shuttle though. And star trek shuttles have a tendency to crash.... and explode....
Go over a bump on a road and receive a “5 second slow down penalty” on my dashboard screen. #AfeelaBadMan
Does it have Atreus tell you how to drive if you dont do it within 30 seconds?
Also, sure, I have 89k on standby. But do I spend it on this, or on a PS5 Pro, the PlayStation speakers, headsets, the Portal, the earbuds, the second headset and earbuds that work with the Portal because no Bluetooth, the remote, PSVR2, a disc drive, a stand and a Dualsense Edge controller?
Or do I spend that 89k on 32GB of RAM?
The EV infrastructure in my area just isn’t there yet to even look at an EV. I would love to consider one but I’ve heard too many horror stories about them.
@Haruki_NLI Though Choices.
@Flaming_Kaiser Very tough choices.
But that RAM, thats an investment I can make money on in about a week.
I like these games, but maybe this is customisation taken a bit too far!
If the car can be driven with a DualSense, I’m in
If the entire car was customizable then I honestly might consider it lol Like having a car based on Horizon, or one that looks like Astro's dual speeder 😂
A Gran Turismo theme...only if it paints a line on the road in front of me showing the best line to take, and braking warnings....
Most people don't buy cars because they have a cool theme. This is a gimmick that will make it seem less serious to most of the people who have six figures (or close to it) to spend on a car.
If this is just the marketing piece Push Square picked up because it's PlayStation related, that's fine, but if this is the best Sony has to brag about the car, I predict a sales disaster.
It's a dashboard cosmetic. Who cares.
Sure the GT5 style HUD design was used in some cars, I think the Nissan GTR R35 or so as it was build around it and they collaborated. It's cool but I don't really care.
I want function not aesthetic or branding. No interest in that.
Also not big on the IPs so to me I don't care.
I bet these things are going to be a nightmare to maintain. The more complex the electronics the more problems. Not a fan of turning cars into some tech device either, it's supposed to be transportation, not my latest smart gadget.
@SuntannedDuck2 I think polyphony did a lot of work on the R35’s graphics in the car infotainment system
