Re: Talking Point: Is It Time for PSone Classics on PS4?

Shellcore

I enjoyed PS1 games back then, but now I'd rather spend my limited free time on more modern games. Completed Dark Cloud recently from PS2 era, but the rose-tinted specs were real. Saying that, I don't see why they shouldn't be available to those that want them, with trophy support and all that goes with it. People who don't care about trophies can still continue to do just that.

Re: PlayStation VR's Not Released Yet, But It's Already Sold Out

Shellcore

@thedevilsjester Appreciate the explanation. I bought into the Dreamcast and Wii on the promise of something awesome. Both didn't deliver in my point of view (although I have rose tinted specs about Dreamcast). I'm not made of money, unfortunately, so will have to measure the pros and cons to see if it is worthy of investment. I don't believe investment should be made after initial sales. The product should give me a reason to buy it, instead of the notion of backward crowd-funding. I do understand what you're saying. I just don't agree with it. I hope it succeeds.

Re: Feature: The 10 Best PS4 Games of 2016 So Far

Shellcore

@rjejr Joking aside, Knack was an above average platformer. The lack of open world allows it to place enemies and obstacles better. On top difficulty, it was tough. Rather than focusing on collectables, it was more about working out how to tackle each "room", which enemies to take out first and how to manoeuvre more efficiently to minimise loss of health. Cross that with sparse checkpointing, and you have a pretty hardcore game. Unfortunately, this isn't what people were expecting, so it got blasted.

Re: No Man's Sky UK Release Date Pushed Forward

Shellcore

At least now I know when to book time off work. Not bothered about the previous two day wait, but it did seem a little strange how the country of the games origin would be one of the last to play it. A game like this, about discovery, really needs a worldwide simultaneous release.

Re: Review: LUMO (PS4)

Something really appeals to me about this. May have to check it out after Far Harbour, UC4 and Doom...and Star Ocean...maybe not

Re: Today's Your Last Chance to Play the Nioh Demo on PS4

Shellcore

Really enjoyed it and loved the setting. Combat seems to be far more complex than the Souls series, but retains some of the gameplay mechanics and, of course, the difficulty. Mixes it up with a loot system and personalised combos. Pro tip - Summon another player to help with the boss.

Re: Sony's Still Pumping Out Those Crash Bandicoot Teases

Shellcore

With all the hype for this, I'm kind of put off by the idea of a new Crash game. It wasn't too long ago that Crash games were being pumped out with no regard for quality. In its day, the first Crash was a new experience and, arguably, the first into the screen runner. This has since been surpassed. Rachet and Clank has beaten Crash to the punch and a Knack sequel (funnily enough) would seem to have more going for it. This is going to hurt, but if you miss Crash, Temple Run is free on the app store...(bracing for impact)

Re: Store Update: 5th April 2016 (Europe)

Shellcore

@illegalfreq The esports edition comes with a downloadable code for two pieces of DLC which consists of an extra stage for each rally and three liveries. This is so more people will enter the ongoing esports competition, with a car being the ultimate prize.

Re: Take Cover, Your April PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Announced

@slampog Before Sony's initiative we didn't have to pay to play online. The games are justification - not bonuses. As consumers, blindly protecting brand names is a marketer's wet dream. Keep pushing, reward good activity with praise, but never tread on others because their perception of value is different to yours.
