What're yer buyin' on 30th August? Resident Evil 4, of course. The legendary third-person shooter – which is surely in the running for the greatest game ever made – will lurch its way to the PlayStation 4 on 30th August, publisher Capcom has announced. There's no word on a price yet, but both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 retailed for £15.99/$19.99 on Sony's new-gen, so it would be reasonable to expect the same.
The port will come with all of the extra content from previous editions, including the Ada Wong add-on and Mercenaries mode. You'll also discover a generous helping of costumes and bonus weapons to collect. But above all, you'll find one of the finest single player campaigns ever made; expertly paced and brimming with brilliant ideas, this is a classic, and set the benchmark for all shooters that followed it.

Any news on a collection for retail?
I own it on every damn system from GC to PC, and i think I can finally say I'm done after the PC version. Can't wait for the HD restoration project to be finished!
20 dollars, a little high but not unexpected at all, 15 dollars is just right.......people have to remember that the publisher is in the game of making money, they aren't going to sell it for what you can pick it up used physically.
I'd pick it up if it released on any other day, but God Eater 2 comes out on the same day, and I really want to devote my time to that one.
Already have it on ps3 and pc, will buy it again on ps4
I am buying this. Nuff said.
I prefer Wii controls to HD graphics, so I'm good.
Hope it has a plat trophy this time round!
Greatest game ever?? I don't think so... Its possibly the best Resident Evil game though....
What am I buying on August 30th on PS4? Hatsune Miku Project Diva X of course!
For as much as I love RE4, I already have the Wii version and I have played the game to death. Rerelease the HD versions of Okami and/or SFIII Third Strike and "I'll buy it at a high price".
I've never played it
Will definitely be buying it for PS4!
Yeah I'll get it.
Dragon's Dogma next please, Capy?
I am counting the days!
Don't shoot me but I've never played it. Having recently picked up RE 5 can someone tell me how similarly it controls? As in, is the movement as clunky?
Really need to stick them all together, please.
@Mergatro1d pretty much the same, some buttons are different (you can set resi 5 to the 4 scheme in settings.)
I really love how clunky it is though.

"Bitch, dumpster!"
@Mergatro1d
4 is less stressful since you can actually pause the action while checking your inventory.
I hope Capcom will give a chance to Outbreak
As much as I liked it on Wii, I really don't feel the need to play through it again or buy it at all. PASS!
@sinalefa That's pretty much what I was about to comment. RE on the Wii is pretty neat. August 30th has been Diva X day for quite a while. Not even RE4 could get in the way between that and my PS4. I'd probably pick it up in the future though, just because I would love to play Mercenaries with my friends.
Is it an exact port, or can we expect it to have 1080p and 60fps?
@kyleforrester87 thanks man. Not sure on the clunkiness but pretty sure I'll get it nonetheless seeing as everyone says how good it is.
@sinalefa I know the inventory management adds to the tension but I think I'd prefer being able to pause the action.
@Mergatro1d oh yeah you gotta play at least once, it's great. Make sure you're shooting them in the knee to drop them down then run in for the uppercut and finish with the knife, though!
After seeing how Capcom ported Resident Evil 5, I'm on the fence about buying this version. Hopefully they don't mess up.
@GodOfPie
Nice. Hard to find someone here stoked for Diva X.
@Mergatro1d
Inventory in 4 is also cooler since you can carry more stuff and even upgrade it to increase the amount of items you can carry.
Looks I am buying Resident Evil 4 and God Eater 2 August 30th.
I will buy the retail versions or nothing. I did the same on the PS3 and i did not purchase it. I have both game on the PS2 and Wii.
I actually liked 5 a little better than 4 but both are a hell of a lot better than 6. Not sure I'll be getting this right away as I've already played and beat it on Gamecube, PS2 and Wii and I'd rather get Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and God Eater 2 first but once there's a PSN sale I could see myself buying this for a fourth time.
Platinum Trophy?
I got Just Cause 3 in the sale and The Warriors is lookin pretty shiny on ps4 plus I have No Mans Sky on pre-order thru PSN so i think i'll leave Resi4 for now.
Best game ever goes to Red Dead Redemption or Shadow of the Colossus in my eyes.
@Splat How did I know you would be picking this one up
i loved the controls on the wii version and i never go back
even for "HD graphics".
@sinalefa Hatsune Miku FTW!!
Does Capcom have any resident evil games left to remake? Resident evil one was remade twice, then we got resident evil 0 remade along with 5 and 6. Resident evil 4 is one of the best games ever, I had it on gamecube, ps2 and ps3, and here we are again. Capcom is bleeding us dry instead of producing new content... obviously I'm well aware of the new game, but it will likely be a 10 hour if that game since it's fully vr. Blah, I'm not buying this unless it's like 10 bucks. What would be different from the ps3 version I already own?
We need to stop buying all these remakes and force publishers to invest in new content, now if you'll excuse me I just got borderlands 2 remake on psn sale lol
@ROBALEXXX Totally agree - the Wii version was definitive for me and I played it so many times that I don't feel the need to play a slightly higher res version if it has inferior controls.
And, uh...Hatsune Miku FTW!
@LeeHarveyOzgod Yeah they still have 3, Code Veronica and quite a few, which I can't wait for. Resident Evil is one of the most iconic and popular series ever, was unplayable on this gen until recently, and this gen could last a looong time with the new more powerful consoles coming out etc. They would be absolute idiots not to remake them all. Plus the people buying this are mostly either long term fans who want it in higher def, or people who have never played them before. It's an amazing thing to be honest. It's easy money, a few months work for a long term download catalogue, and doesn't get in the way of new IPs or games in any way. If you're asking "what's different to the PS3 version I already own?" The answer is the PS4 version isn't made for you.
@JoeBlogs It still holds up really well.. The combat is clunky but it kind of works in favour of the game. It's more fun to play than RE6 where you can move and shoot, in my opinion.
I can get why you were put off after having a go on PS3 though - I actually felt the same way back when it released and put it back on the shelf for a few months until my friend showed me how to play it properly - As I mentioned above it's a good idea to use melee and your knife where you can to conserve ammo against the normal enemies at the start of the game.
@sub12 yes but in capcoms case, they have literally been remastering the same games since PS3 days. It's very tiring.
Again! Guess if you've never played it, it would be good. However, I believe most people who give a damn will have already given it a go. Nothing special today.
@Tasuki - RE4 is one of my favorite games ever.
My favorite in the series! Day one purchase for me !(when I get my ps4 that is)
Debate incoming
Could it not be argued that in some ways resident evil 4 reinvented but at the same time was the catalyst for the state that capcom got themselves in with resi 5 and especially 6.
I love the resi series up until 5 where zombies using rocket launchers and more gears of war was too much for me.
I hope that 7 will bring back everything that was great but resi 4 was a double edged sword in my opinion, what do you guys think ?
Thought resident evil one was a decent game not played them since.
@Splat I know. It was you who recommended me the game on Wii a few years ago, honestly I would have never have bothered with it if it wasn't for your recommendation.
@Tasuki - RE4 is actually the game that sold me on playing with a Wii remote and nunchuck being a good thing.
The important question here is: what are you buyin'?
@sinalefa Must... make room... for the big fish...
