The Elder Scrolls V: Skryim is being remastered for the PlayStation 4, with the best-selling role-playing release launching on 28th October for Sony's new-gen system. But how good does the game look on more modern hardware? Bethesda's released some screenshots which show off the upgrade's denser foliage and improved lighting.
Is it an amazing upgrade? Compared to the PlayStation 3 version, it represents a gigantic stride forwards – but when observed in isolation, it's not necessarily up to par with native PS4 releases. Then again, it's worth remembering that this game is vast, and seeing as it barely functioned on the Japanese giant's last-gen format, we're hoping for more sturdy performance here.

It's still got that nice mysterious depressing vibe I enjoyed about it on PS3 but WILL IT RUN ANY GOOD?!
But I've only played about 1 hour of my PS3 disc.
Pushsquare needs to start a list of any AAA PS3 games that haven't been remastered yet so we can keep an eye out for them, can't be too many left.
@kyleforrester87 Fingers crossed.
@rjejr Mass Effect's the main one now I think.
Im getting this.
@get2sammyb Well that makes sense, as I bought that trilogy on PS3 for $5 and haven't started that yet either. Maybe I should just check my whole backlog for PS3 games I purchased but haven't started yet. I played Ni No Kuni for an hour, so that will probably get remastered when NNK 2 releases.
Have they remastered the Bioshock games? I haven't finished 1 or 3 yet.
I bought PSASBR and haven't played it, but I'm not sure anybody is calling that one AAA. My kids have played it a lot though so we got our $5 worth.
Like so many, I played it and stopped due to the increase in file size issue. That and my wood elf was seemingly useless against the dragons.....lessons learnt and shall be purchasing this to have my revenge (after the patch).
@rjejr We've seen boxart for BioShock remaster but it's still not announced yet. Maybe this week?
It really depends on how the game is going to run on PS4. Will it run smooth as butter or stutter like a dying car?
I have hopes that it will run good because i think, and correct me if I'm wrong, the PS3 was a difficult hardware to port to...or something like that. The PS4 is supposed to be more game-designer friendly?
Looks like a did good visual overhaul.
My son just started playing my 360 version last night. 10 mins in he got stuck between the wall and animal carcasses hanging from the ceiling... Had to go back to an autosave/checkpoint. I've told him when you play Bethesda, you save often. Going to wait for reviews. If it actually functions like a playable game, may get it on a sale. Still can't understand why Bethesda gets such a pass for releasing the buggiest crap every time. (My copy was free. Brother gave my his physical because his new 360 had it digitally pre-installed.)
@get2sammyb Are you letting PureXbox handle all the Xbox stuff this week? Normally you'd comment on a the competition from an X1 S w/ 4k streaming.

Do you think there is any chance of a PS4 Slim tonight/early morning since Neo isn't due out until who knows when? You keep commenting on the Sony secrecy. I don't think there will be, if only due to that faceplate getting changed for every major game. This seems about the right time frame though, 2 1/2 years after launch. If not a slim, how about 1TB standard?
They said no Neo at E3, they never said anything about minor revisions.
@rjejr It feels like the only PS3 games I want on PS4 are the few that haven't been ported
Skate 1-3
Shadow of the Colossus HD
Sly Cooper
Sonic Generations
Please have a shared trophy list and I will re-buy this game on the PS4! I wish Sony would let me delete trophies from > 0% games, then this wouldn't even be an issue...
This and Mass Effect are probably the only remasters left that I would buy day one. I have pretty much lost hope on ME.
@sketchturner Aren't those all PS2 games? Or are you making a joke that every PS3 game has already been ported and all thats left are PS2 games that got ported to PS3? B/c that is kind of funny, time to start porting the PS2 to PS3 ports.
@Splat don't give up yet! It'll come, it has too!
@rjejr Hah... No, the games I listed are PS3 games except for SotC (I just really want the HD version). I should have clarified I meant Sly Cooper Thieves in Time.
@thedevilsjester what are you talking about?
You can delete already 0% trophies .
@sketchturner Oops, I always forget about Thieves in Time, having owned the other games on both PS2 and PS3. I tried TiT but quit playing about halfway thru the west.
So, I've been playing Fallout 4 lately, and I have to say sometimes, the frame rate drops like the bass in a particularly sick dubstep tune.
Will this be the same? I'd rather play a game with bad graphics and have it flow incredibly well.
Did they remaster dead space titles?
@rjejr Maybe because sony e3 just around the corner and xbox1 slim is expected at this time, so it's not a surprise. I think rather than making ps4 slim sony will lower the base ps4 price to $300 and make ps4 neo for $450-$500.
I hope sony e3 will be as good as last year.
@BLOB My comment said > 0% trophies. Deleting 0% trophies is almost useless because the low hanging fruit that some games have (I have even gotten a trophy from a game just for buying it) means that after deciding if you want to keep playing the game or not, you probably have at least one trophy.
For this purpose though, I would like to either continue my progress (shared trophy list) or start over (let me delete the trophies).
I'm very interested, but return to Skyrim...I don't know, the flaws really bothers me.
@thedevilsjester ok. i would prefer that we're able to delete trophies (even with 50%.)
It's what I wanted, but I expected it to come with remastered oblivion too for $60. That and Fallout 3 with NV hd would sell like hot cakes.
