Re: Take Cover, Your April PlayStation Plus Games Have Been Announced

Shellcore

It's kind of the IGC equivalent of dad dancing. I appreciate that Sony has tried to be with it, but doesn't quite pull it off. Happy with Zombi even if again this falls short of games with gold. Just relieved that it isn't more pixel side scrolling. Still got the old twin stick shooter, but cant win em all! Overall, I am happy with this months selection, although the bar wasn't set high at all to begin with.

Re: Dinosaur Hunter Turok May Roar to PlayStation 4

Shellcore

No problem with them being available to play. Won't interest me. I wonder what the price point will be though. If it's in line with the PS2 remasters I would be a little disappointed to be honest, as they have been choses for (mostly) being best in class. These games weren't amazing on their original release really.

Re: Fallout 4's Far Harbor Expansion Sounds Bloody Massive

Shellcore

I've heard this is correct in terms of landmass, but the amount to do within that landmass will be less than Shivering Isles, but more than dawnguard hence the cheaper price than the former. Looking forward to it. Now, survival mode news if you have it please? Rumours are that the beta is out on PC this week!

Re: Poll: Are You Still Playing The Division on PS4?

Shellcore

Although I have never played the game, it does seem that Ubisoft has managed to create something that has obviously compelled people to buy and play it. On top of that the negative outlook on the run up to release has resulted in unexpected praise. As I write this, 80% of people who took part in the poll has bought and played the Division. Impressed.

Re: Talking Point: What April PlayStation Plus Freebies Do You Want?

Shellcore

@GlynCR I would say the games were more of a justification rather than a bonus. Online was free before, not so now. Only the introduction of the fee and games have changed. For me, they go hand in hand. If I had to pay a subscription just to play online, then I would have to re-evaluate my priorities. Paying for something when I can get it for free elsewhere is madness. The games are the reason I'm staying, not a pretty bonus I should feel grateful for. Sony is a business and we aren't getting these games because they are being generous. They full well know they have to offer them as part of the value proposition of the plus package.

Re: Talking Point: What April PlayStation Plus Freebies Do You Want?

Shellcore

1. Temple Run using the DS4 "motion control" to hit those high scores.
2. Pitfall - Still haven't played that.

Oh, yea. Anything that is made by a small team on a limited budget, preferably with shoddy graphics and a side scrolling 2D perspective with pixel art. Won't hold my breath through. Never get anything I like...

Re: Fallout 4's Survival Mode Isn't Too Far Off on PS4

Shellcore

I feel like my previous play through was just a practise run for the real "Fallout" experience this will offer. Base building and supply lines will actually have a point to them. Food will become more than a passing thought and, for me, it marks the point where it becomes more of an RPG.

Re: You Won't Be Reading Any The Division Reviews on Launch Day

Shellcore

Not surprised at all. Is this the new embargo? "Oh, the servers aren't switched on so the online elements cant be reviewed". Who the hell turns the servers on the day of release! The only saving grace for Ubisoft in this instance is the two betas that have been offered before launch, otherwise I'd call bull on the whole thing.

Re: EA Is Making an Absolute Killing from Microtransactions

Shellcore

This hurts especially after the news of Konami putting expiry dates on it's micro-transaction currency in MGS V. Every extreme piece of news seems to normalise the already unacceptable business model. Soon, the new demographic will enter the market and this will be all they know...

Re: No Man's Sky Will Carry An Intergalactic Entry Fee on PS4

Shellcore

The price is a bit of a shock to be honest. I appreciate the supposed scale of the project. However, aside from "It's big and you can fly", we haven't had much information about actual "gameplay" and ways to keep the player engaged. The graphics look pretty good and the premise is exciting. Just a little cautious waiting for the suits to come and say "Well, you paid £50 for a game with a very small team and low overheads. Ass Creed 10, or whatever, has to be £80". If its not the team or the cost of goods we are paying for, then are we supposed to be paying for quality and enjoyment?" In that case, every game would need its own RRP based on metacritic or something. Be smart, be wary.

Re: PS4 Fans Are So Mad at PlayStation Plus They're Making Parodies

Shellcore

@adf86 It's a discussion mate. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself with the games available on IGC. Fact is, some of us are not. Please don't take conflicting views as an attack on your own. The great thing about this community is the discussions we can have about the subjects, which would be pretty damn boring if we all followed suit with the same viewpoint. Whilst I value your view of the world in this respect, I don't feel you feel the same about the views of others. Please state your case, but don't lower yourself to insulting people. Cheers

Re: PS4 Fans Are So Mad at PlayStation Plus They're Making Parodies

Shellcore

It's funny, but also a little sad. I like indies, but not all the time. I'm not going off on a rant again like on the most recent announcement article, but I hope Sony see this parody video and start to measure up against Games with Gold. They don't have to, and probably wont, but I feel a little taken for granted. Maybe Pushsquare could do a poll to see if this feeling really does account for the majority, or just for the small vocal minority (like myself). Anyway, first world problems and all that. Happy gaming

Re: Your PlayStation Plus Games for March Have Been Revealed

Shellcore

@adf86 I'm sure I heard that Xbox One and PS4 are in direct competition. They each have dedicated services. Games with Gold is currently a more attractive proposition value wise. That was my argument. I agree PS4 has a higher install base, which is why PS Plus is lacklustre at the minute. There is no incentive for Sony to try harder. The value is diminishing and therefore customer satisfaction.

Re: Japanese Sales Charts: Street Fighter V Falls Short on PS4

Shellcore

I don't honestly think the lack of features fuelled this supposed underperformance in sales, as I don't believe many people know. I feel the retail price for a fighting game is what is putting people off. Plus, I don't think these games are in vogue anymore. Black Ops is doing well because that is what the mainstream audience buys. These guys don't usually post on specialist gaming websites. Sure the game is great and I will buy it down the line with a price drop and a content boost.

Re: Your PlayStation Plus Games for March Have Been Revealed

Shellcore

@adf86 The point is "value proposition". It's basically that a service should communicate why its product offers more than other similar offerings, such as Gold. Obviously, the majority of the people on this board aren't feeling the love with the neverending indie games being shoehorned into plus. This is nothing to do with indie hate or quality. It's to do with people's acknowledgement that the value proposition is slowly lessening in terms of what is available elsewhere. I like indies and I like my old Volkswagon Golf. Both do their jobs well. If I see other consumers getting triple AAA games and Aston Martins, I'm still going to question my purchase as a consumer. We need to be concerned and real about what is happening, not accept it because we don't want to be seen as whining.

Re: Your PlayStation Plus Games for March Have Been Revealed

Shellcore

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I agree completely. I'm whining, but I don't care anymore. This month is not good and I'm fed up with "indie" games. If that tag is inappropriate, then I am fed up with playing below par games with under performing graphics. I didn't buy a ps4 for this!
