I'd like to know the stupid amount of pre-orders, which are useless for digital version. I'll never understand why people are so eager not to own a game by buying it digitally.
They might want to stop making cross gen games before releasing a hypothetical PS5 Pro. I really don't see the point of releasing a boosted version when even Sony isn't taking full advantage of the normal PS5. Nobody expect consoles to be as powerful as a high end pc anyway.
Sales coming after a price increase always reminds me of a comics in which 1$ lemonade doesn't sell, but it sells instantly when the sign says: "80% off! Was 5$, now 1$ only"
It's insane it took over a quarter of a century for Hollywood to figure out that hiring the right people (aka people who love the game), a good enough director (not Uwe boll or Paul ws Anderson) and having a sufficient budget were key to a good videogame adaptation movie or series.
They never gave it the right budget in the past, because everything failed, because everything they made sucked. I'm glad they broke that circle
@HeeHo If people never bought any from those scalpers, nothing would ever be scalped ever again.
It's the same with macro-transactions, pre-orders on games so unfinished you can't call it a pre-alpha version. People who buy and encourage these trends are the real problem.
So Sony basically paid a lot of money so people who are already playing the game won't have any major update for 12 month? What kind of ugly move is that? This is one of the worst exclusive agreement I've seen
Regardless of the reason, an indie dev should focus on the most recent hardware to make the best game possible.
I really don't like this console generations where most developers refuse to move on and drop 9yo hardware. If this continues, they will release cross-gen games on PS4/5/6
At least it wasn't held back to be compatible with old hardware, like HFW which has fog that magically appears only to hide all the details as soon as you are 10m above the ground so it could run on a PS4.
And if the sales aren't good, they'll blame the west and pat themselves on the back for not releasing a physical version. Why would they even bother with logic?
@get2sammyb Knowing Sony's greed, I don't see why they would sell is cheaper than their overpriced Elite controller. I'd say the minimum price will be 250$, or 300+€.
The good news is, I won't be tempted until sony gets it together and has enough stock to sort the scalpers problem... So, probably mid 2026. By this time we'll be talking about ps6 shortages coming up
I'm pretty sure they will keep trying to make live services for the next 100 years as long as one in a hundred makes money to cover other losses. In the end, all the studio's which failed will be acquired by Microsoft, EA, or another evil giant
@themightyant This is pretty much what I do with most games. They are way too often released as overpriced mess and get better and cheaper overtime. There are too many good games I haven't played to justify paying 70+€ for a broken game.
If physical copies disappear completely, I'll start jailbraking my consoles and wear an eye patch. If you can't own anymore games and have to download them anyway, you might as well stop paying for it.
I'm still worried they are focussing way too much on recapturing nostalgia, and not enough on creating a good game. But at least they are trying something instead of filling a map with too many icons and adding more crappy light RPG elements.
They should have been nominated for best random thing when Joel picks up a gun AND looks for ammo on a corpse in the last episode. This happens so rarely in a film of TV series, they deserve an award for this.
It feels like developers don't even know how to fully exploit modern hardware and most games are still cross-gen. I really don't see why they would want a revised version at this point. They would have to optimise it on 4 different different playstation consoles, when many devs struggle to make a decent release even on a single platform.
I lost interest years ago when they dropped platinum games as a co-developer. Cygames is a mobile game developer and they don't have experience with a game this size on console. Hopefully they will prove me wrong
You guys are really desperate to keep talking about FF16 for no reason (except the advertising contract you definitely have with Sony or Squeenix). It's not like it's the first game that falls victim to rule 34.
I would have probably bought it if they weren't so greedy with their 80€ games. Instead of buying it at a normal launch price, I'll wait for it to drop below 40€
I played version 1.5 on PS5 and it kept crashing every few hours. Considering it was supposed to be a huge improvement compared to the release day, I can only imagine how broken it was
@sanderson72 Next: being the first one after the present one or after the one just mentioned (from Cambridge dictionary).
"next-gen" is a marketing BS, regardless of the old gen still being around. It's like talking about today as "next Tuesday". It would sound incredibly dumb. The day a new gen is released, it should be considered current gen.
The only reason it was called next gen is because Sony and Microsoft wanted to have a much more powerful generation and invented that dumb term so stupid people would think it was revolutionary. Today (which still isn't called "next Tuesday" btw), it has no meaning whatsoever. Also a PC should be called "gen-after-next" if you still want to call your ps5 "next-gen".
A game that will get PS6 features on PS5? You probably meant "current-gen", not that stupid marketing BS that has been around since the PS3 era. I thought we went over this.

I'm so glad we got our daily dose of Xbox BS. Can you make it into a weekly complication of all Xbox/FTC/whatever crap instead of vomiting 135 articles a day about this?
I didn't see Nintendo buy 69 billion dollars worth of developers in the GameCube or WiiU era. Maybe the FTC should limit Sony and Microsoft's acquisition to what Nintendo spends on acquisition. That would shut them up once and for all.
I'll wait for Spider-Man 2 under-40€-edition. I'm not paying 80€ for a game that will most likely get a 30+€ season pass, so 110€ in total. I still have plenty to play, so I can wait for a proper discount on a fully patched game that includes all DLC.

It depends on the type of remake.
