A new version of the PS5 Pro is reportedly coming very soon to the European market.
That's according to very reliable leaker billbil-kun, reporting via Dealabs.
Apparently, the new model (CFI-7121) is simply a minor hardware revision, and will likely be virtually identical. It's posited that the only meaningful change will be the machine's improved energy efficiency.
The Dealabs report says there won't be any reduction in SSD storage space, nor any other tangible alterations, and its price tag will remain the same as well.

It'll be going on sale in Europe from 30th September 2025.
This move would echo a similar one Sony made with the regular PS5, only in that case, the SSD storage was in fact decreased, from 1 TB to 825 GB. Again, the report says that won't be the case for this PS5 Pro revision.
Whether the revised PS5 Pro is coming to American markets "remains uncertain at this time", according to the report.
It's not unusual for Sony (or other console manufacturers) to release new models of existing hardware, if only to reduce energy consumption or make tweaks to the internals.
Given billbil-kun's track record, we expect this is true, but we wouldn't expect to see Sony making a song and dance of it. This revised PS5 Pro will simply replace the current one.
What do you think? Are you an energy-conscious PS5 Pro user interested in this revised model? Tell us in the comments section below.

Probably just different thermals or something, like in the early PS5 models
Do we know when the up date for PSSR is coming out, 2026 right?
I'm glad they are focusing all their efforts on power saving features.
You never know, it might come with a stand…hahahahaaaa…
Maybe it's just a more efficient model does the same thing but just uses less power no drawbacks in quality??
It's always good for companies to try be as green as they can nowadays even small improvements over time add up to a lot!
With even worse optimisation on games like Borderlands 4, MGS3 Delta, Silent Hill f obviously!
Of course it'll come to the US. They're not gonna maintain a fab process for the old model once the stock is depleted.
@Foxhound And yet 1st party games run as smooth as butter on my pro.
I’ll stick to my normal PS5.
I have no interest in the Pro especially since it doesn’t even have a disc drive.
Wasn’t bothered about the PS4 pro either
Probably cheaper to make and priced the same just so Sony can up their profits a little bit more...?
Sounds like another price increase is coming
I still and have said from day one.
They should release a 1tb at £100 cheaper giving the gamer the option.
They just forcing 2tb to get more profit and make it look more powerful because of the higher price.
They make out they took the disk drive away to give the gamer the option, well why not the memory.
Happy with both machines, but good lord are they ugly. Fingers crossed whoever designed the plastic shell has been handed a mop instead, with someone else at the helm of aesthetic design.
Reduced energy use sounds so much better than we found cheaper parts and materials. In the end we all know they will not change the internals if it does not have any significant cost reduction just for us to save the equivalent of 5 minutes vacuum cleaning on a yearly basis. If you still do think that is the case , wake up.
People don’t want big bulky consoles, I really don’t understand why Sony went ahead with the design of the PS5. You place it on a table on its side and the thing looks ugly due to the base being bigger. You can’t slot it in narrow spaces so it has to be in more open spaces. They must have been thinking this console should be a focal point of everyone’s room when people tend to go along a more minimalist approach in how they have their rooms
@BusyOlf It's like a dubai skyscraper and a BT router had a baby. It's awful.Then again it might look better in 20 years who knows? But its too bloody big now and i wouldn't get a new model unless they seriously shrunk it.
@BusyOlf @Balaam_ both your points are true. Never liked the design of it. A console that needs a stand or legs to sit flat seems odd. But i have gotten blasted on here many times for saying this. But my only gripe with the PS5 is the size and layout choices of the controller. Sure the Dual sense is good with features and i know controller size is subjective. But man Dual sense really hurts my left thumb. Some of that i think is the tighter tenison Sony uses on their sticks compared to Xbox and others. But i really like the PS5 and wish i could play it for more than a hour at a time. But the controller just has me back to Xbox within 60 mins. I hope PS6 makes a basic design consoles and they get the Dual Sense 2 a little smaller. 10-15% and loosen up those sticks a little bit and i would game on it a lot more.
@HonestHick it's funny, I have the opposite experience, with my XSX controller hurting the tendons in my wrists, but PS5 so far no similar issues. A shame there aren't more size and design options for both controllers, instead of just different colour options!
@Dimey Having the two thumb sticks at different levels never made sense to me.
@Lowdefal @MysticWangForce Lol the design grew on me and now I think it looks cool, I think they've been going for document type design since PS2. Book design - PS2, two slabs - PS4. A white document file/folder with the base held at one end - PS5. Don't really know what the PS3 looks like though. 😁
@Dimey i agree with you. Hand sizes and fnger length make it hard for one controller to work for everyone. I would love a smaller Dual sense but likely they wouldn’t be able to get in the haptics and feature set they went for, and i do like the controller. Not like i hate it, it’s just the least comfortable out of the 3 for me. It’s funny cause the older PS consoles i used to say the controllers were to small. Now it’s to big. I just like to complain it seems hahaha JK
The PS5 Pro is already pretty energy efficient compared to the base PS5 when looking at output compared to energy input, but every little helps I suppose, though without shrinking the die size of the SOC any further I can't think it will be a big change, and I dont think they are in a position to do that.
@TheArt
I like the PS5 design too - I prefer the Pro (/slim) model design, but the original PS5 was good too. Much better than just a 'boring' black box!
@HonestHick @Dimey
I had an Xbox360 (no PS3) and when I moved to the PS4, I was so surprised at how comfortable the controller was in comparison - I found I really disliked the Xbox controller setup, and for what its worth, when it launched I thought the PS5 controller was better still.
But I do think this is one of those personal preference things. Who knows, next gen, maybe Sony offers a choice of set-ups as an enticement to current Xbox players.
@Rich33 if Sony offered different controller layouts it would for sure entice me to play more on PS. Sony is still using the layout of the Super Nintendo controller. When Sony needed to add analog sticks to that design the only room left was at the bottom. Some like it but on IGN poll off set beat in line 56-44. So Sony could in fact benefit from having an option. I can use either or, but for inline to work for me i need the controller a shade smaller than dual sense and i would love for the tension to be a little less. Also i prefer Xbox’s concave to convex sticks. My thumb doesn’t slip as much. I am way more accurate on those sticks. Otherwise i really like PS5. Series X for me is all about the controller and snappier Ui. However i love consoles so i enjoy owning both. They all have pros and cons but i prefer console gaming to PC even tho PC is knocking at my door wanting a chance. I am still a little torn if i want to try or not.
@Rich33 Yeah they dared to try something different instead of the same old black box. Series X looks too simple, the S, the One and even 360 look a bit more thought out.
@HonestHick
I have fairly small hands, but the Xbox stick layout just really strains my hands / wrists reaching the left stick. I get the same using the Dpad on Sony controllers too.
I have seen polls either way. Incidentally, I dont know what IGNs readership split was/is, but they always seemed up until a bit ago when I stopped visiting their site to be quite Xbox centred - although I am going a lot on their comments sections which were often, at least in my experience quite toxic indeed (filled with people who parroted rubbish and seemingly couldn't/wouldn't understand facts), and a few very well publicised at the time comments from one of their heads, which made him sound like a real fanboy.
I know if Sony were to change controller layouts, the backlash - probably mostly from people who are happy at the moment but dont take part in polls, would be enormous, but I do think an option next gen would be ideal - I suppose I just want everyone to be comfortable playing games, and a stick position option is really easy to design.
I think the problem with PC is you are either in or out given the much larger outlay, though Im sure some would disagree.
@Oram77 Next summer last I heard.
@TheArt
Im not the biggest fan of the series consoles design - but I did like the old 360. I think when it comes to PS5/Pro/Slim I like the completely non-boxy design, and the integration of the grey (PS1 reminiscent) covers.
I always lay mine horizontal, so maybe that affects my view (no pun intended), and I do have plenty of space so that probably helps.
When I first got my Pro out of the box, I was pleasantly surprised by the sleeker design - as oppsed to the original - but im sure this applies to the slim as well.
I'm surprised they haven't removed USB ports yet or something. Hopefully I didn't just give them an idea...
I don't expect much. It's still not an offer i am interested in. Especially without a disc drive and at that price.
I ordered my PS5 pro, will receive it this Tuesday. Looking forward to it and replay older games to see the improvements. I sold my retro game collection of the NES, SNES and Gameboy. Kept the N64, PS 1,2,3 and 4. I know some would call that crazy but I never played those games anymore and my kids have zero interest in those old consoles. Plus I have all the games on the minis.
I assume it will come with a price increase
I do not expect much.
Because, I expect PS6 to be announced, which is not in the far future, at all...
@Lowdefal oh I loved the PS2 from the get go. It's just iconic to me now. I think most of my problems with the ps5 stem from how sodding big it is!
The "minor" revisions to the PS4 and PS4 Pro were actually very significant, to the point that I sold my old console and purchased a new one.
The money I lost during that process was well worth it for the reduction in fan noise. A good value upgrade in my opinion.
Fortunately, the fan noise on my PS5 and PS5 pro is so low that I don’t notice it. At no point is it intrusive.
So in this case an improvement in efficiency isn’t something that interests me to the point that I’d ever be looking to buy another. That's if it even reduces heat and noise.
Anyone in the UK who hasn't got a ps5 yet, Argos selling the digital edition for £329.99 and disc version for £429.99. just thought I'd share the info, not going to see savings like that on a ps5 again.
Will it ship with an SSD at all? Maybe you'll have to buy one separately so their investors can get richer.
