Team Cherry will reveal a "special announcement" concerning Hollow Knight: Silksong on Thursday, 21st August 2025, at 3:30pm BST / 7:30am PT / 10:30am ET, it's confirmed. The news will be shared in a YouTube video, which is already public and set to premiere, as seen above.
This is official news from the developer, but Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has shared more information, stating the release date won't be shared during today's Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase. This would suggest that the launch date will be part of Thursday's update, though.

Schreier says he shall have an article on the same day that provides "the story behind why Silksong took seven years to make". Following a video call with co-founders Ari Gibson and William Pellen, he's able to share a "very fun story" about "what the last seven years have been like for them".
It's been a very long road for Hollow Knight fans, but it now finally seems like this is the week its dedicated community gets a release date, with PS5 and PS4 versions already confirmed. Will you be tuning in to the livestream? Let us know in the comments below.

In 48 hours the game is cancelled
It'll be a Stadia 2 exclusive. Also Stadia will be back to fail more spectacularly than last time.
So tired of hearing about this game lol. I mean the first game was good but you'd think this sequel is the second coming

I'm sure the game will be good...but after waiting 8 years or so there's no way it's ever going to be good enough to feel like that wait was totally justified unless it is some kind of genre redefining masterpiece on a scale we haven't seen in years.

@Dom_31 Exaclty. I cared in 2019 or 20. Will play at some point and I'm sure it will be fine. But "excited" died a long time ago.
How awesome would it be if Team Cherry slapped a $70 (or $80 on S2) price point in this thing?!
I tried Hollow Knight as I'd heard great things about it but bounced off it pretty quickly (which takes a lot as Metroidvanias are one of my favourite types of game.)
I've been tempted to give it another go...but the insane hype around Silksong has actively been putting me off.
Finally, so we can move on from this hype. I am sure it will be good but I don't believe it will be worth the wait at all.
