@Reverandjames I have a feeling Injustice would be tricky due the amount of licensed characters in it. That's also why you never see Marvel games added to the service. Rayman's more likely, but the official response is going to be the PS4 version came out last month, and it's too soon to add it to the service (as it would basically prevent people from buying the full priced game).
The fact is, we're not going to get boxed games to be on the PS4 service for a while. If you only own a PS4, and you're not gaming online or enjoying the indie games, then PS Plus isn't going to be worth your money. As a service, it increases in value with the number of Sony platforms you own. If I were in your shoes I'd probably cancel the sub and check back in a year.
@Reverandjames Well, if you do cancel your subscription, spend the money you've saved this month on Fez. I've already played it on the Xbox, but it was one of my favourite games I played last year. Think it will work great on Vita too.
@rastamadeus Bit harsh - Having worked in customer facing environments myself, I know it's touch to make everyone happy and they're limited as to the information they can provide. It's annoying that no one ever got an answer to why CS:GO was never released in the EU, but that's only because the powers that be stopped them fro releasing any information. And frankly the forum gets filled with so many entitled smartasses that I don't blame them for ignoring some of them.
It looks like they've managed to stop the leak before the day they announce the games though (assuming they're going to officially announce these alongside the 3pm Store Update).
I guess Sly will be a decent, fluffy, change of pace, and Merc Kings is fine by me, but seeing as I already picked up Hotline:Miami in the sales there's nothing else that appeals. Footie and MotoGP do nothing for me, sadly.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya yeah I see where you're coming from, although I wouldn't say the titles so far have been bad, they just might not have a wide range of appeal. If you weren't using the online aspect, and were after boxed games, then fair play, I'd give it a rest for a while. But only if you just own the one platform. If you're plum enough to own two, or even all three of the platforms, (like Big Daddy Cool, as I like to call myself) then Plus is a no brainer. Five new games every month? Game on!
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya i'd be pissed if they had PS4 tomb raider this month as they've only just had the PS3 version on plus. Injustice would be fine by me, but it's not likely. I'd say give it 9 months to a year before boxed games start appearing. I do see the point of some people's criticising the choices for PS4 so far as they are quite survival based - which is why they need to finish DriveClub already!
People are so unreasonable with their expectations for the service. I mean why would Sony give away a Vita game that just went on sale? And is actually selling well for once?
The one thing I would say is DriveClub has better be good for the time it's taking to come out.
I was almost certain Payday 2 would be in there this month - not that I'm disappointed. I don't think it would be my cup of tea. I'm quite excited now as the announcement will be a surprise. Driveclub maybe?
In general, the games tend to be whatever I bought a while back and have just gotten round to playing. So by sod's law I'm fully expecting this month's reveal to be Ni No Kuni. But I'm hoping against hope that it will be Dark Souls.
@Jazzer94 I'd agree to a point in that neither All-Stars Battle Royale nor the Sony Kart games (Little Big Karting and Modnation Racers) have fared that well against the Nintendo rivals. But Sonic All Stars Transformed proved there is a definite market for a strong Karting alternative - especially since there is a contingent that believe the best Mario Kart games have been confined to handhelds for the last few generations.
@Shellybird27 Just to clarify, I wasn't ragging on the Kart design. Nothing wrong with that. I just don't think Knack is a strong enough character to warrant further appearances in any more games. But then I felt the same way about Nariko, and she got a straight to DVD movie.
But hey, I got a chuckle out of it. We all need a chuckle every now and then. I implore you to have a chuckle.
Remember the announcement of a Shadow of the Colossus film? And that Uncharted film starring Mark Wahlberg? Fact is nine out of ten of these announcements never make it to the screen... But then again. who'd have thought a Heavenly Sword film would actually have been made? Sony seem quite aggressive in pushing their IPs onto the screen as of late. Even so, I'd be surprised if we ever saw a trailer.
I think Squall's favourite line from FFVIII was in fact "...", but "whatever" came in a close second.
Yeah, the gunblade holds a lot of sway. It's a sword, and a gun! What more can you say? And although it wasn't neccessarily a Squall specific move, the Eden Guardian Force attack was probably the most ridiculously over the top attack sequence ever put into a game. I'm not even sure how to describe it, other than the animation takes over a minute to unfold, and I think it ends with the destruction of a galaxy. Watch for yourself...
It did split reviewers right down this middle - people either loved it or hated it. Eurogamer were included in the latter - I think they gave it a 3. It was an interesting review, not for the score, but because some of the people involved in making the game jumped right onto the comments section to complain about it. If it's still up you should track it down, as it's quite a fascinating insight into the relationsh between game makers, publishers, and the media.
So I've got a question: it seems their haven't been many reviews for this game. Despite it riding hgh in the charts. Why is that? I'd assume an embargo, but embargoes usually extend to release date, and I'm sure this game has been out for at least a week?
Demon's souls was one of my games of the last gen. It was in turns atmospheric, thrilling, terrifying, depressingly bleak, thought provoking, ingenious, rewarding (albeit sometimes through tortuous grinding), and, moreover, expertly crafted. I don't think there's been a game since with a better level design. Having said that, I never did get round to playing Dark Souls... I really hope it turns up on PS+.
Who is this Pachter guy and what makes his word gospel? His self-perception of being an industry guru reminds me of how Jonathan King put himself forward as a pop music Tsar... And we all know what happened to him.
@RyoHazuki you mean you can't be bothered to play what is considered to be two of the best games of the last generation? Dude. Maybe this video game malarkey isn't for you. I hear Legos are fun...
I generally don't double dip... and if I do it's so I can play cheap PSP games on my vita. But I am intrigued as to how much they can upscale Uncharted 2 in particular. Especially THAT bit in the wrecked building...
@Splat good luck doing the puzzley bits without a touchpad... (there is an alarming amount of rubbing going on in that game - I'd say it makes up about 60% of the game length).
There's a lot of reports of doom and gloom about the death of the traditional games console as we know it, but you see the figures of how the PS4 and Xbox One are selling and it really doesn't seem bad. I mean the bubble could burst, sure, but both look like they're selling themselves without any real killer apps to boost sales yet. Plus, the micro consoles that were said to be the next big thing have thus far been pretty shabby. Change may be coming, but it looks like it's a ways off.
@greaseman85 ugh, such negativity. There's nothing wrong with the analogues- Killzone proved with a decent auto assist the Vita has shown it can make a damn fine FPS. On the other hand, COD proved that some developers won't hesitate to make a half arsed version of a big franchise for the system. While we haven't seen much of Borderlands yet I remain cautiously optimistic.
Surely there's a way to crowd source, even if not by kickstarter? Everyone who played the first two games would want to get in on it to get some closure. I know I would.
Let's all just leave FFVII alone. DoC and Advent Children were terrible.
I'd love a XII remaster as I sadly never got round to finishing it on PS2. But surely no one actually though X was the pinnacle of the series? It was decent, don't get me wrong, and X2 was a really good laugh at times, but after the superlative VIII and IX it seemed like a jump backwards, in a gameplay mechanic sense anyway.
@RyoHazuki don't be so quick to write off Brothers or Pixeljunk Monsters - they're both great games. Brothers is a sweet Boy's Own adventure with a Scandinavian touch that tells a compelling story, and Monsters was one of the best tower defence games of the PS3 generation. Hell even Smart As was supposed to be an OK knock off of Brain Training.
Cool. Not having an R2 button or a way to remap it to R1 kind of stopped me from being able to get any decent play out of Contrast via Remote play. But with something like this I could quite happily be playing away while I'm on the bog.
Let the Sonic cycle begin again. I still say there's a good game left in Sonic. It's good that they keep trying different things, as it's insane to keep doing the same thing and expect different results... I just hope with all the misfires hat have happened over the years they can nail it this generation. Hell, thanks to the good folks at Sumo Digital they pretty much nailed the kart genre in just two games!
Ps: Generations is a game I keep hoping will show up on Plus one day. I liked the demo but I'm just too cheap to shell out for a copy. Shame on me.
I think other than Payday 2 the Eu have already been given these games or they've been announced already. So the it looks like things are just levelling out. So prob payday 2 for us in Europe next month, but everything else will be a nice surprise.
Not a Europe thing either, I'd imagine, due to Sky and Xbox's bumchummery. But Now TV will stream it on PS3 I'd imagine, if you want to go down that route.
My PS3 isn't going anywhere. I look back at the days when I had both a PS2 and a PS3 and remember how looking for overlooked, cheap second hand PS2 classics became something of a hobby. I STILL have some titles on PS2 I never got round to playing (Killer 7 being the main one) so it might yet get broken out again. So in effect PlayStation Now is never going to be for me. Plus I don't have to worry about bandwidth issues this way.
I'm still playing the first INfamous after I got it in the Welcome Back package! That's the thing with these Open World games - they're just too f*cking long!
